MASSIVELY proud of you, Al !! And, to have Gina there to help is just "off the charts" great! As I watched you being so careful to get things just right be begin with, I was reminded of the adage, "Slow and steady wins the race." Many of us might be tempted to get a little lax in the precision of measurements, but I think any "smidgen" of an error at this stage will be amplified later on. I continue to wish that several of us were there to help you--not to be in the way, but to help make this build go faster for you and to tire you out far less. Sending hopes and heaves your way, bud!

Goooood Moooorning Lumnah Acres. I'm so glad everything is working out smoothly on the farm. I pray you are able to get that building put together quickly, before the truly bad weather comes in. This is going to be a wild weather season. Two storms hitting almost at once in the gulf is an example of what we also up north can expect this winter just weeks away. Don't let grass grow under your feet. Don't be afraid to ask people to give you a hand. G-D Bless and Stay Safe.

I enjoy watching you build. You know the correct way to do things and do them, so I can learn from you. As I’m 77 yo, I’m not likely to actually build my own cabin, but I’ve always wanted to. Watching you and seeing how it’s done I can build it vicariously.

You see Al, this is the beauty of "Batter Boards" when you begin your foundation (pier in your case) layout. You would have your perimeter locations already laid out and saved. Doing this, you always want to layout, prove it, and use those measurements consistently from then on. Doing the same layout over and over leads to errors that go un-detected until you stumble onto a big problem that's often too late to correct. They aren't difficult the their effort is well worth it. Here's a link that illustrates. batter boards serve what purpose Just for "shits and giggles", What material are those sill plates made from ??
