It's Too Hot For This

In this Fall Line Ridge video, we feed pigs, prune Christmas trees, and split firewood during a terrible heat wave.

Please, God, send rain & clouds! Thanks for the videos with your precious little boy in them. He is adorable!! God bless y'all!! 💞🙏💞

Looking at the bottom of your pig feeder I could see that there is a lot of product that never gets out of the feed holes. If that were mine I think I would make something that starts with a pyramid with a square base that was big enough to extend to the edge of the feed holes so that all of the product slides out to feed the pigs rather than sitting in the middle and spoiling. Great video Wes keep cool and thumbs up.

Yep, that's definitely a good idea. Whether I'll take the time to do it or not is another thing 😂. I might just start taking something and knocking that stuff in the bottom out of the holes when it gets to that level.

Hey Mr. Green Jeans, It's Christmas in July !! "Christmas Tree Oh Christmas Tree !!!" "I'll stay in a firewood shed" says that Junior Supervisor !!! He's so cute. It is 26c (78.8f) in Montreal right now. If temps rise to 30c (86f) Environment Canada calls it a heatwave. If we have 3 days or more of 30c temps, weather warnings go up, because people die. We don't have AC in home unless you have a central air home or a window unit (Which we have in ours). Then throw in forest fire smoke, which is plentiful right now, and you have disastrous air.

Scratching the pigs is good for relationships, I’ve seen some pigs that won’t let anyone in the pens all because they don’t trust people. If they ever get out at least they won’t be scared to came to you when called. People that have negative opinions on pig farming don’t have any understanding of how farming is done, all they know is the grocery stores have everything they need.

My Dad grew up on a farm and had the same attitude about farm animals out of necessity, something his "city" kids didn't understand. He had a coworker that raised pigs on his small farm in a rural area about an hour from our home. He raised a pig for us and of course we wanted to "visit" our pig. My Dad said "no reason, he's not a pet, he's food". We asked "what's it's name?" He said "Food"!

Both of my parents were farm kids. We spent a fair amount of time visiting my mom's parents on their farm. Between that time on the farm and what we learned in school, we were well aware of where the meat we ate came from. The cows, pigs and chickens we saw walking around could later be on out plates. Never was there a disconnect. My parents had favorite farm animals and it never bothered them to later find the pork chops for dinner was their pet porker.

People get upset that homesteaders are so nice to the animals they slaughter, they treat them like pets. Acting on emotions, these people feel the farmer is evil. What it is, is that those animals dont live stressed out, in fear, or dangerous to humans. When their last day comes, if dispatched on the property, especially via gunshot, the animal doesnt ever know its his last day. And everything has to die sooner or later. Better that their time here was happy & healthy, no matter how long or short it may be.

I just stumbled upon the following video and thought of you and the cords of wood that you stockpile for your home heating. Perhaps a similar IBC tote located near your sawmill could be used to collect and store the slab lumber that you remove when processing logs into usable timber. (kzread.info/dash/bejne/p3V7qs2hqq2peto.html) Additionally, by keeping a tote near the mill it would save you the trouble of handling the slabs more than twice. Another way to minimize steps and simplify your timber production. Wishing you and your family a blessed holiday week filled with gentle rains, seasonally appropriate weather and restful evenings together with family and friends. Peace brother

The sad fact is , that if people want to cry about the harvesting of livestock , in this case pigs , they should cry for the pigs that donated the meat that is purchased in a grocery store . The grocery store-bred pigs didn't have near as happy a life than the pigs at Fall Line Ridge . And I am quite certain that when he says grace at mealtime , Brother FLR gives thanks to both the Lord , and the harvested animals for being the blessings that they truly are . I hope that my sentiments make some of y'all bleeding heart types , and I use that term respectfully , feel even a "little" bit better about the reason that our friend here raises pigs . Also , prior to consumption , you might want to give God and the harvested animals that grace your tables , thanks for the meat that you buy at the grocery store . And in the event that , I don't know , you are a vegetarian , I have three questions for you . 1) Why do you "not" eat meat ? God made you a carnivore for heaven's sake . 2) If you don't eat meat , and possess the opinion that you do regarding our friend's choices , why do you watch a ''farm" channel that highlights the raising/harvesting of livestock ? God knows that Brother FLR doesn't chastise anyone for disconnecting those lovely vegetables from their "mother" plants . And , 3) why don't you also question Brother FLR's theft of that wonderful honey from those peace-loving bees ? Now , before anyone accuses me of being offensive , I need you all to know that it is impossible to be offended or insulted unless you agree with what was said . Because if you call someone an ugly fat ditch-digger , and they are neither ugly , fat , or in the habit of making holes in the ground in the pursuit of a paycheck , they will simply chuckle . I do realize that it's also impossible for the person making those comments about Brother FLR's animals to be offended . Because that person deleted this channel right after commenting . That is , unless they are a glutton for punishment . Punishment not unlike the punishment felt by the animals on display under cellophane wrap at the grocery store . P.S. , if the commenter IS still here , I await their rebuttal with a full ink-well . Praise God .

I think that the pigs are treated well. Just because they are meant for meat doesn't mean they shouldn't be given a good life until its time. We have started our flick to raise eggs and meat just for us. We have decided to see how Orpingtons will do for meat chickens. Just because we plan on that doesn't mean they won't be treated well. God put us on this earth part of his design was for us rule over not to treat horribly.
