I always use vaseline to paint wheels. smear it around the edge af the tire, paint, and wipe it off!

Easy way to mask off stock wheels is get a troll of that brown paper (paper bag type consistency), curl it around the rim, it will slide right inside the grooves and outer edge of the rim, that way you can paint it all with both colors of paint at once. That's what I did in the garage 15 years ago.

For the rear castle nuts, you should use a tool called a "torque multiplier." The benefit over the "wacker" that you used is that with the multiplier tool you can re-torque the nut back to original specifications. The tool has a 9:1 multiplier effect, and works on 4 and 5- lug rims as well as on the gland nut.

Just invest in a Milwaukee M18 Fuel Impact gun. Undoes rear hubnuts and flywheel gland nuts with ease. 1400ft/Ib of nut busting torque it's a great bit of kit.

I knew from experience that that sound was the solenoid. Pop it in reverse and rock the car back. That used to unstick mine.

Interesting, someone did an alternator conversion on that '63. Wise. I did the same thing on my '64, that was my first car. No more dim headlights at night when idling at a stop.

Is it really a model '63 or a model '62? Because beginning on August 1962 (begin of model 1963) the front hood didnt have the Wolfsburg emblem over the handle anymore. So either its a wrong hood or really a '62, but either way I think its awsome what you are doing (the two tone rims in particular, because these were the factory style). I hope you leave it in the original perlwhite tone!
