So I've only sat behind the wheel once and never studied but I'm 18-- (no permit either) Could I possibly pass first try?

That’s why I tried to keep my eyes off the clock, didn’t know what time it was throughout the test so wasn’t until I realised we were just coming back that it was the end. Like everyone says, it goes really quick!

Yes! The advice I received was also: stay focused on the present moment, not on the future, or past mistakes. The present is the most important.

This tip is really important, this is exactly what happened with me on the test! I failed just 5 minutes from the test center because my mind was already on "ok I made it"!! The examinador gave me instructions on the roundabout and I didn't even listen cause I wasn't focused anymore!

He shouldn’t fail you if you miss his instructions , it’s not a serious mistake , neither a minor one, you either repair your mistake , either he is forced to redirect you to other directions if you missed it for the first time .

I just struggle with unclear instructions like mine told me to go right and pointed towards Straight ahead. I have been thinking that's its a pass if it's safe to do so when they don't find any errors. Don't know if the examiner was mean or was just destined to fail me

I passed my test at 9.07am today (2nd time)!!! I'm 39 and it's the happiest day of my life. For any younger people out there DO NOT put it off

Well done! I'm 29 years old and passed 2nd time 5 minors. The fact I waited years before doing my test and getting my licence paid off in the end.. I saved up for 6 years to be able to buy a proper car outright and pay the insurance. Well done my dude

Somehow, despite a million lessons, I thought we had to do two manoeuvres but in fact we only did one. So as we approached the test centre I was a bag of nerves thinking "when is he going to ask me to parallel park" and couldn't believe it when we parked up and that was it! I passed by the way

I thought I failed in the first 5 minutes and a few other times too but luckily I remained calm (somehow) and drove back to test centre fine. When debriefing me he said nothing about those many scenarios I thought I failed in and I didn’t get any faults for them which shows u how u can’t let your nerves get to you! Stay calm !!

I’m glad I’m not the only one! I made a couple mistakes and I assumed I failed the basic skills and he was taking me on the road just to be nice. On the road I made a few more mistakes but I felt calm about it because I was certain I had already failed and he would sit me down and talk me through my errors at the end. I literally did the whole thing assuming I failed in the beginning and it wasn’t until he told me I had the best score on basic controls he’d ever tested that I realized I hadn’t failed the first part. Then I thought he was just trying to comfort me for failing the on road. It wasn’t until I had the paper in hand that I realized I had passed the test completely. Actually believing id failed worked really well for me because the pressure was gone and I just tried my best.

Another bit of advice I would add to this is; When the engine is off and you're getting your final verdict/feedback, mind your p's and q's and be mindful of what you may say. If you're unsuccessful, be civil. If you've passed, also be civil. Last thing you want is to develop a rep for being a problem exam taker as this may cause an examiner to be wary and potentially be more vigilant on specifics, rather then the entirety of the drive. As for passing...if you have 3 minors, but you felt several of them were unjust, just remember....you've passed. Get over the extra minors. A flawless drive isn't going to reflect on your insurance quote, so why worry. I was close to disputing one of my 2 minors when I passed several days ago. Quickly realised that it wasn't worth arguing over. I've passed, and that's all that matters. Good luck to those who have a test coming up.

My instructor was saying I can use his pot of £1 coins behind the gear stick for a bribe, jokingly, but I made sure not to make any jokes like that, they might take it the wrong way and maybe a minor fault could turn itself into a serious if they are pissed off, you never know.

I did pass my driving test, although there were many times where I thought I had failed. One time was at the last 2 minutes where there were temporary traffic lights. I had given way to someone waiting to emerge out from a side road, and after that I thought 'Why did I do that!' Thought it would have gone down as hesitation, but turns out that it did not go down as even a fault.

I was in this situation on my driving test yesterday and it was going well, I knew where I was and so close to finish, and I remembered this video to keep focused, even when parking up at the test centre. I passed with four minors! Buzzing still! But, this video really came to mind towards the end. Thank you!

Honestly I passed the test without looking at the time once and just focusing on the road. Felt like it was over in 10 minutes, we had to do an extended test because I got around the route too fast. At the end I finished in around 43 minutes with 2 minor faults.

I was coming back to the test centre on Friday and I failed on the final roundabout. It's in an industrial park and for the first time ever, a van emerged from the right 150 yards give or take from the end and I just didn't acknowledge it. It's painful but there's nothing I can do about it, rather this is a lesson well learned.

I pass my test on Monday I remembered your video about staying calm lol the drive was going well then he asked me to do the manoeuvre at the end of the test backwards bay parking at the test centre car park but I stayed focused and did it in one go 👍🏽

When I was on the way back to the test centre. I just waffled a load of rubbish to the examiner. I pretended to love motorbikes and all the other hobbies he said he enjoyed. I think he really needed it…😂 Nothing beats a little bit of phycology.

I failed my first driving test because of this exact mistake. Just five minutes before the exam ended, I prematurely celebrated, losing focus momentarily. In that lapse, I missed a no-entry zone, ultimately resulting in failing the driving test.

I passed yesterday! 😊 But I thought I must have failed in the first few minutes based on how supportive the examiner was being, so I just thought I'd use it as a practice 😅

Yeah, passed first go yesterday and I didn’t even look at the clock. Did the manoeuvres and the test seemed to fly by after. Don’t treat the manoeuvres as the only part of your test or solely focus on them and it should be fine.

My advice would be to never look at the time during the test, just keep your eyes on the road and focus. Also, if you don’t look at the time the test will seem to go faster

At least in my part of Kentucky the test was 20min but that was just because we where in 25mph zones so it really was going around a block backing into a driveway and turning around parallel parking and stopping and going smooth

I failed on parallel parking for not looking out of my mirrors and blind spots

Mine was going really well until the last stop light. It had changed yellow as I was coming up on the white line and so I started to slow down because I knew I couldn't make it through but the brakes were just done so they aren't "broken in" yet and I just slipped over the line

I was honestly so focused on driving I didn’t look at the clock and I have terrible geographical awareness so I had no idea I was at the end until he warned me the building would be coming up on the left. Thank goodness they don’t expect you to remember street names or landmarks.

@@JamesTravis Yeah, and I never had to lane change and perform other minor tasks, such as indicating the location of my defog and hazard lights. I've watched several driving tests recently, only to realize how comparably easy mine happened to be. I took it in a reasonably medium-sized town south of Houston, TX. I lived only a few miles away, so it wasn't like I deliberately chose one out in the middle of nowhere for an easier time, lol.

Last time I failed in the literal FINAL 3 minutes. 😩😫

In the uk you will probably get a letter within 14 days with confirmation of the speed. If you are unlucky you will receive 3 points and a fine. Or they might offer you a speed awareness course.

I am sure students get tired by 30 minutes on test.

I thought I’d passed my test. My instructor in the back seat thought I’d passed. Then she said I’d failed round the corner from the test centre for supposedly getting too close to a parked car. Literally a minute before the test ended.

It is normal to doubt yourself. But trust your instructor and the examiner. They both believe in you. You just need to believe in you. Safe driving

It’s very short,and quickly you can pass it easily,or fail it easily by not turning on turn signals.
