    I was completely satisfied with my Paradigm subwoofer until I brought the KF92 home! The 11Hz low-bass extension gets all the glory, but I'm equally as impressed by how low the distortion is from this subwoofer. It is simply unheard of to have a subwoofer with this amount of clean, detailed bass; with unbelievable low bass extension; while also being in such a small cabinet. A next-generation subwoofer indeed. Amazing.

    These sound great with music aswell due to their sealed design and very fast bass response. It makes integration with speakers quite easy. The fact it can be used with movies and still go down to 11hz is awesome for audiophiles.

    There's going down to 11Hz and then there's having some meaningful output at 11Hz - it's clear from Edge of Tomorrow that these were rolling off pretty majorly way before 11Hz. Impressive for the size nonetheless.

    I do read about KEF subs often, typically in the discussions of musical subs in 2ch setups. They come up often in discussions with comparisons to REL, and Martin Logan. HT not as much as they're tuned and voiced for tightness and impact rather than SPL and ULF. In smaller rooms with significant room gain, sealed, compact subs are the way to go.

    Ok I just tested this woofer. It is very impressive for a small cabinet like this. The extension can reach low and deep. The driver worked effortlessly at 47 to 50 percent volume. It is tight and sharp for this size too. My only complaint is that it is too glossy. Easily to suffer micro scratches on the exterior. The price also increased by quite alot now. If you are lacking space and still wants something that rocks, have money to spend, this is the woofer to get.

    @@Kwarkiemodo it came in yesterday, hooked it up today. While I haven't completely dialed it in yet so far I'm extremely impressed. I thought my 15" ED was great for years, and never really thought of replacing it until it started making rattling noise. It was also way too big a box at around 25" around to be reasonable in my small living room. So far the KEF is just on another level. The amount of output for such a small box is incredible, and I'm only at 50% volume. There is tangible output all the way down to 10 hz, things are shaking in my room that never have before. No cabinet resonance, it can be going full blast and if you put your hand on the box there's no vibration at all. Super tight bass as well, it can start and stop on a dime. I can't forsee ever needing more or bigger bass, I just don't think anything could do better, especially at this size in my space. Highly recommend.

  • @Kwarkiemodo

    @Kwarkiemodo

    @@IkariWarrior1701 Thanks for notifying me back. Good to hear you like the subwoofer so much! I'm still hesitating which one to buy. I think the size of the subwoofer is very important and that it has a tight bass in music but can also produce nice low sound in movies. The Arendal 1923 2s has almost the same price. 1200 watts with 17-200hz at 3db. But the size is much bigger. Could just go with the Arendal 1923 1s with 800 watts at a much lower price (1299). Don't know what's smart. The Arendal gives 5 years warranty on the amplifier and KEL 2 years. Have read that their old amplifiers gave a lot of problems. Also the size of the subwoofer is very important. Want to keep my wife happy too:). Just do not see a white version of the Kel and I have everything white in terms of speakers.

  • @IkariWarrior1701

    @IkariWarrior1701

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@Kwarkiemodo Yeah unfortunately there is no white option. I was lucky enough to get this one for $1599. Hearing it could actually hit 11 hz at volume and it's incredibly small size sold me on it. Also hearing Shane say he thought he'd left his 18" sub on when these were going was pretty big praise. I had never considered KEF a subwoofer company until seeing this review, I'd always assumed I'd go with an SVS or HSU.

    @@Kwarkiemodo first I have a Klipsch R-100SW 10" subwoofer, which is ported, and sounds very muddy at higher volumes, I got this sub to pair with my Klipsch R-15PMs then I got the KEF LS50w, and so I got the KEF R400b off of ebay... it sounded really clean and tight, but would only run for 30mins before it would make crackling noises, so I wasted a few bucks there... Now I have this KF92, by far the most expensive sub that I have ever purchased 2K for essentially a 12" sub is well..a lot but it has improved the experience of my 2.1 channel system by a lot! there is so much more information in the tracks that I didn't feel before I still need to get it calibrated properly into my room and system then this sub should be able to enhance frequency below 100Hz

    Was wondering the same thing. If using two to increase spl, they must be in the same location such as stacked. That stacked setup would be more of a fair comparison to a larger sub like PB-16. If the two 92s are placed at different spots, there will be less of an increase in spl but the bass will be more even across the listening area.

I have bowers & wilkins CWM 8.3D in wall speakers. and 4 CT SW12 but the bass doesn't go low enough. I've been wanting to swap out the subwoofers with something that I can feel but limited to the cabinet. Suggestions?
