Had the same reaction with the position of the neck strap. I went from way up high using the radio as a “shelf” to really low and tilted forward like you. Ended up trying without the neck strap and liked that best.

Just seeing your video for the first time and I appreciate your thoughts. I got the non-pro edition and it DOES have the neck strap mount. It's my first true radio, and I'm very happy with it. For now I'm only using it for FPV FREERIDER Recharged on my Sammy Note 20 Ultra, but hope to get a cinewhoop or something in the near future.

Tango 2, the hands down best second controller you can buy. For me this is the perfect radio, I am a student and only have 2 5” racing quads that both run crossfire so my whole fleet is covered. My current radio is the x-lite with the internal crossfire mod so I would get the same rf performance for a huge bag space saving and time saving on setup. Having a lightweight and fast setup is a goal for me, this could allow you to arrive at your spot and be flying in 60s. I think with this I could get the whole drone bag with a field pack under 5kg too. Take it mountaineering! It’s just a shame I’m poor and can’t afford it 😥

Just to add: gimbals are so smooth! Fit is indeed perfect, it stinks there is no bay to add multi module or full size crossfire, with that it could easily become one radio to rule them all.

You described exactly why I want it, not having to assemble the big TX. Having a big radio for long range is just fine. I see a lot of reviewers do a who is this for, I think it’s for everybody, I think that everyone who used CF will have two radios from now on. For whoops I always take a NoRX FC and put in Crossfire anyway, just because “I can”. Also Trappy is talking to Bob Roogi about integrating CF in a whoop/toothpick FC. It would be nice if we could share the bindings between the big TX and the Tango 2, maybe Trappy can do this with the cloud?

I started out on the micro crossfire, then spent the additional 200 bucks on the big brother crossfire for the added features it offers, I just don't understand why TBS wouldn't make the tango 2 compatible with there own crossfire module? I'm not getting the Tango 2 just because of that. And the hand rest / arm positioning you mentioned. Sucks because I was really looking forward to it with all the hype that's been going on for years now... 🤦‍♂️ Good thing I bought two Taranis x9d's ! 🤘😜

And yeah, agentX is a pain on the Mac. What u\su\ally works for me is: open AgentX, *then* plug in the radio and turn it on, then hit USB (Agent) in the pop up, then wait a little bit (like 10-15 seconds), and the tango should populate. For some reason scrolling to the bottom of the list and back up seems to help too? If all that doesn’t work, restart the computer and repeat, that should “fix” it. And by the way anything you plug into AgentX I find this to be the most reliable way to get it to connect.

is it just me but setting up a taranis doesn't take that long. that being said I don't have any protection on my radio like a case or gimbal cover, I leave crossfire in the module bay and I leave my crossfire antenna on. so he has a few extra steps but I have found none of that is needed

I would think leaving the module in would protect those pins a little better than leaving it open to anything being able to hit and smash them but I think he's only saying and doing all that to make it seem less gimmicky about how hard it is to press a power button and I also leave neck strap connected to transmitter.

Tango 2 isnt for me but something of small note from your crossfire mounting/unmounting. I have 2 or three times forgotten to install my damn crossfire antenna before powering up. Reason being is my stupid X9D had that stupid 2.4ghz antenna still there and I would forget about putting the 900mhz antenna on. So I wound up making a gimbal protector that locks into place with the lanyard on the balance bar so you cannot remove the protrctors without removing the lanyard. My gimbal protector is also my 3D whip 3db crossfire whip holder... so I have my antenna in my hand to put on before I can even take my gimbal protector off. I like the crossfire module with mavlink/bluetooth/500mw-2w too much to ever want to change of it. But it can be a headache to store and be compact.

@@ummagawdFPV this last weekend was my worst bonehead mistake... After flying with an external battery powering the crossfire I took the antenna off, turned the radio off, put in my bag. 5 hours later when I am at home unpacking I take my radio out to find crossfire still plugged in with the thing hot as hell due to no airflow. It was on 500mw for 5 hours with no antenna. Trappy says it should be fine but in the back of my head I will always remember that issue and whether it may lead to a failure. /facepalm

@@FRY_FPV That's a good question. I'm not sure because I always fly with airmode on. Granted I went to perch on the edge of a building and bounced right off the other day. Haha. One thing though, on FL1, "airmode" isn't active until you throttle up the first time. So essentially you know how Steele can hold his quad in hand and move it around and it doesn't react? We'll like that, when you initially arm it. But once you throttle up it "turns on" airmode. I'll have to check in the group to see if idle up can be done or it it can be put on a switch.

pretty lame they dont include the neckstrap holder. 40 dollars for just these foldable gimbals is pretty expensive.

For me A game controller style radio gives me never the grip and comfort/trust as a traditional radio does. Just ergonomics.. so never a game controller style for me!

Tango 1... such a beloved icon that it wasn't even worth dusting off, even for the purpose of promoting the Tango 2.

The hardware is awesome, but locking you into a single protocol is lame.

Sorry, Trappy but just copying the design of basically any gamecontroller doesn't cut it for me. I've seen this shape before quite often - some might even speak of cloning...^^ 🙄🤷‍♂️ This thing is snake oil and nothing more. FrSky already did the controller-style radio and as great as Crossfire might be - lately I heard people don't like being locked in to eco-systems. Great review though, Tommy. Thanks for putting in the hard work.
