I lived in NYC over 20 years and it has turned into Gotham City (this is what the press calls NYC now). I used to worry about being shoved into the train tracks, a game called "knock-out" punch when a gang member tries to knock a random person out with one punch and a serial killer who has been increasing body counts but evading police. This was pre-pandemic during "safer" time's. Now, there are shootings and random assaults everywhere. Anyway, I moved out along with thousands (mass migration of out NYC) and moved to a smaller city. While this city doesn't have the crime of NYC, everyone that I know in this building has had their catalytic converter sawed off and stolen from their cars (parked behind a gate within a building). So yes, crime is a problem and unfortunately, there is no Batman for Gotham City or any other city in the US.

I think it's an embellishment of the truth. A spectrum. I think, How true it is, depends on what socio-economic environment you are living in. Op's narrative, it seems to be many events from over the span of 30 years, combined into a single narrative, to create a fearful impression. None of the things OP described are fake. Being shoved onto the tracks, nowadays, is very real. Knockout punch, is a very weird and far too specific a term, to use, when describing something, that honestly - I've never even HEARD of, outside of the recent Joker movie. That makes me inclined to believe that OP is not lying about that, either. In the 80s, and 90s, crime, in NYC, was a really big problem. Also, indeed, what happens in the lower classes, is extremely dangerous, and for many middle class people, such as myself, who are isolated from that area of life, we really don't know much about it. But I have heard enough, to fathom that OP's words are not false, in pertinence, to such socio-economic conditions. Nowadays, Crimes of less than 200$ are not punished, at all. People who are repeat offenders, are not arrested, and/or punished. This year, there was an asian woman pushed onto the tracks, and killed, by some insane person, who had committed several crimes, and had been repeatedly let go. And this was literally, I think, in Grand Central, or somewhere else, along the 7 line. These are all very real occurrences. OP's fears are definitely not without reason, and they are certainly not based in fantasy. However, if one is of middle class status, and above, these aspects of NYC, will literally, almost never show themselves. But, as we can see, times, and THINGS, are changing. As I pointed out, above - Crimes, and violence are getting more and more rampant/abundant... Fa zhan de qu shi, the trend, seems to be... slowly, heading towards what OP is describing. For women, these dangers, it's very true, are almost exponentially magnified.

We live in the US. I'm White and my wife and 2 daughters are Chinese. With the ever increasing wave of hate and violence toward Chinese and Asians, I have a license to “conceal carry” a gun in order to protect my family. It’s far more common than one thinks. For about 3 months during COVID 2020, Asian's were the largest population buying firearms and ammunition in the US. A number of our Chinese friends have guns, some with more than one. Checking some WeChat groups here, owning firearms in the Asian community is no longer considered taboo, but something that is becoming a “norm”. But compared with many Americans, Asians typically do not shout to the world, guess what, I own a “bunch of guns”. :-) [In America you might need more than 1 gun for protection depending on the area of the country you live and level of violence. A pistol to carry, a separate more powerful one in your car or truck (called a truck gun, semi-auto short barrel rifle, multiple 30 round magazines), and one or more with different capabilities to cover various kinds of attacks at home such as a shotgun and semi-auto short barrel rifle. A minimum of 500 rounds of ammo just in case. Preferably more. Plus you have to have hearing protection so you don’t severely damage you and your family members hearing.] Quite a time in America and it's only getting worse. If there is open hostiles between the US, UK, EU against China, China hatred will be massive and the safety of many Asians will be in question. We could be at a point in American history that hate and violence against Asians is the highest since the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882 baring Chinese immigration, and the Page Act of 1875 baring immigrant of Chinese women. Chinese are the only ethnic group totally banned from immigrating to the US in its history. And it wasn’t UNTIL The “Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965”, when these measures were overcome. So racism against Asians, particularly Chinese has always been part of American society. This dark side of American history is hidden and not taught in the public schools and universities. We don’t expect any support from the government, so essentially we're on our own to survive. ------------- THE CHINESE EXCLUSION ACT OF 1882 The Chinese Exclusion Act was a United States federal law signed by President Chester A. Arthur on May 6, 1882, prohibiting all immigration of Chinese laborers for 10 years. The law excluded merchants, teachers, students, travelers, and diplomats.[1] Building on the earlier Page Act of 1875, which banned Chinese women from migrating to the United States, the Chinese Exclusion Act was the only law ever implemented to prevent all members of a specific ethnic or national group from immigrating to the United States. Passage of the law was preceded by growing anti-Chinese sentiment and anti-Chinese violence, as well as various policies targeting Chinese migrants.[2] The act followed the Angell Treaty of 1880, a set of revisions to the U.S.-China Burlingame Treaty of 1868 that allowed the U.S. to suspend Chinese immigration. The act was initially intended to last for 10 years, but was renewed and strengthened in 1892 with the Geary Act and made permanent in 1902. These laws attempted to stop all Chinese immigration into the United States for ten years, with exceptions for diplomats, teachers, students, merchants, and travelers. They were widely evaded. The law remained in force until the passage of the Magnuson Act in 1943, which repealed the exclusion and allowed 105 Chinese immigrants to enter the United States each year. Chinese immigration later increased with the passage of the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1952, which abolished direct racial barriers, and later by the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965, which abolished the National Origins Formula.

The U.S. was founded by European race who wished to take the continent for themselves instead of let King George grow his empire. It's just another Brit empire and as such inherited all of its racism, violence, aggression, Christian crusade, what's not. We know who wiped out the natives, took Mexican territory. This is why America especially its ruling class is anti-Blacks, anti-Asian to its core. Why fought so many wars in Asia, subjugate them. Who invaded Japan as soon as the civil war was over around 1880? Who colonized Philippines and killed 100,000 of its natives. America's epic racism continue to this day but the era have arrived to stop it. Because non-White population will gain majority and will rule. Whites will not let go without a fight and so there will be a second civil war - a real shooting one. Steep economic decline, end of the American empire and global power contribute much to the civil war. The result is predictable - split in 2, but probably up to 4. There will be 4 countries, one of which will remain controlled by racist White. One cannot end White racism which originated from the English aristocratic upper class way back. Because by now it has been burned into their genetic code. They are all born with it. Hidden, suppressed but still there. All you need to do is to poke deeply until it hurts, then all the racism automatically come out.

The US has embraced individualism, the idea that every person is more important than every other person and all other people combined. We demand a government that doesn't govern. Rebellion against social norms is a celebrated social norm. Everyone wants a gun and no one wants to get shot. We all want more money than average. We think we're better drivers than average. We're all entitled to special treatment. In short, we're founded on cognitive dissonance. This is why it doesn't seem strange to us that we oppressively and violently represent freedom itself.

San Francisco was still livable in 2019. Today, it is a cesspool. A sanctuary city for crime. The good news is you can join in on the crime and start an Ebay store. You can use the surrounding stores as your warehouse. For example, hit the LV store and steal some bags. Then auction them off on Ebay. It currently pays to be a criminal. Law abiding citizens have been brushed aside. A homeless person jaywalks right in front of a police officer and they ignore it. If hard working citizen jaywalks in front of the same officer, he'll get a citation. It is wrong on so many levels now. I wish we could put America first, but it seems there's no interest in it. It's all about the MIC and foreign affairs.

Met a young Uygur girl (late teens early 20's) yesterday, coming out of a mall where I live. Been in Canada 8 months. She passed me by, as she was walking faster than me. She turned around and apologized, "Sorry! Very Sorry!!" Amazing. Once we got talking, she was very friendly. Like Jason has always said about the Chinese. Was a magical few moments while we walked together, before our paths diverted. An old dedushka and a Uygur traveler. That's the wonder of having channels like yours, which give a window on a world I would never have otherwise seen or experienced. From Russia, China, Ukraine, Greece, Cyprus, Africa and anywhere in the World. I can imagine what the future has for us, with immersive technology. The Fantasy World that Lincoln has to look forward to.

I lived myself in China (Shanghai) for 3 years, and it was absolutely gorgeous. But you have to be fair: there are occasionally workers sleeping on the street - at least I saw some in Shanghai during the summer heat. But - of course - it's totally different from homeless people in Europe (I'm a German) or the US: they just use the heat of the summer in order to be able to save some money, even if a overnight stay would cost them almost nothing. But they are so diligent, that they even try to avoid those costs, in order to save money even faster. They are decent people, no alcoholics, normal hard working, content people.

The reason behind this, I think, is the American jail houses are always full. Crimes like those shown in the clips are regarded as petty theft so no one is required to be locked up behind bars. The police watching the theft go on is inexcusable, their lack of enforcement encourages more crime. The tent villages are also a problem in Toronto due to the cost of housing. I don't want to hurt Canadas reputation but it would really shock foreigners/investors to learn that we have plain clothed police in Canada who actually commit crimes such as those shown in this video, it's used to increase their budgets and "manufacture threats" This has drastically hurt our nation and global competitiveness. While we spend money on dishonest domestic police forces in Toronto, Durham Region Peel Region and elsewhere, China spends money on improving their streets, building new infrastructure and funding innovation. This HELPS their nation succeed and it's why I've said from some time that coupled with Chinas focus on education, eliminating corruption and attracting top talent, China is going to prevail. I highly advise China to not follow in our footsteps and to hold abusers of power accountable.

Also remind them that your elected US bosses have squandered your tax money to the tune of 17 billion giving it to master zelenski of ukraine. What has zelenski got on US that US owes him so much?
