Toners in skincare, lets look at when toner sales are falling and what happened to The Ordinary Glycolic Acid Toner. Do you need a toner and if so which are the best skincare toners 2024
Hey guys and welcome back to Mad About Skin where in this video we are talking skincare toners and whats happening to toners 2024 with falling sales and some products being pulled from market. Do you still need a toner and if so which is the best toner 2024
Toners have been a part of our skincare routines for years with people falling in love with korean skincare toners, hydrating toners and exfoliating toners, using multiple toners every single day. Recently however brands have reported a fall in the sales of toners and some of the most popular toners have been disappearing from shelves. Lets look at whats going on with toners and what is behind the fall in popularity.
Korean skincare toners and korean essences have become staples in peoples skin care routines and can be great for hydration but people took it too far with the korean 9 toner method and skin flooding which saw the excessive use of toners in peoples routines.
Personally it think there is still a place for a toner in your skincare routine and in answer to the question do you needn't a toner, here are some of the best toners 2024 for taking your skincare to the next level.
I would love to know what your thoughts are on toners so let me know in the comments below.. Share with my your favourite skincare toners and the ones you would recommend.
If you enjoyed this video and would like to see more like it then please let me know by giving it a thumbs up and a like.

I once did not believe the importance of toner in skincare regimen, I thought it was a scam or just bunch of ingredients diluted in water, but when I started using it my skin became so plump and significantly enhanced, since then I realized that it really helped serums and moisturizer to sink into my skin.

I ❤ toners! I use gentler exfoliating chemical versions now and less often, but I started with The Ordinary’s glycolic acid toner. I love soothing/hydrating toners from Korea, made with plant extracts like Centella Asiatica, Artemisia, Heartleaf and milky toners made with rice or oats. I often choose toners featuring beneficial fermented ingredients. I have dry/dehydrated mature skin and rosacea, and I find my skin and moisture barrier benefits from a few layers of soothing/hydrating toner before applying a more moisturizing essence. I allow that a few minutes to absorb before moving on to the active step of serums.

Hi Rob, ❤ I fully agree with your point of view. I use a toner when I need a greater moisturizing effect, or a gentle exfoliation or pore reduction, and I like Haruharu Black Rice Hyaluronic Unscented T, Paula's Choice Calm Nourishing T. or Resist Anti-Aging Weightless Adv Repair T, but I am very curious to try the Milky Toner of TO. Sadly I missed yesterday's livestream, but now I'm running to catch it! Ciao 😊

Rob 💗 amazing video as always. Your videos started off my skincare journey, and I still look forward to every video 🥰 I am extremely sensitive to skincare, and honestly? I adore toners. I have found that K beauty toners - but moreso ESSENCES have improved my skin immensely. Being able to add in hydration and actives in light layers without overpowering my skin has been crucial. I think people expect TOO MUCH from their toners, are picking the wrong ones, and are not using them long enough to see the benefits ♥️

❤ Toners will have to be pried from my cold, dead hands lol. That's how I like to do my exfoliation, & how I put hydration back in my skin for everything I do to take care of my oil/acne. I do tend to direct newbies away from that Ordinary gylcolic toner though; that's too much for people who don't know wtf they're doing.

I use them as moisturizer as conventional moisturizers still make my skin break out. I like the snail mucin ones. It's just a better choice for my skin. i do not layer them, I hope they stick around. In my case I use them to hidrate the skin and for that I prefer my Niod mist. Is just faster if your only objective is to soothe and plump. I still use toners but not everyday, I tend to rely on serums or creams for my actives. Nevertheless there are days that I like to layer 1 or 2 toners (secret key is a great one) and watch my lines disappear 🥰. My daughter gets great results from the toners of Paula’s Choice for her acne. Each case is a case. Great video as always Rob.

Toners are in my skincare routine for the long term. Most of them are in fact essences rather than traditional toners so they are a way of gently adding more to you routine. Though because of this I can see it would be easy to over do things and overload your skin creating more problems than benefits. As you say it is a matter of understanding what is in the toners and what your skins needs understanding the potential benefits and indeed, yes risks. I like the cooling and calming effects of a basic centella toner , the hydrating effects of a rice toner and yes the evening our of ones complexion with the Secret Key essence. Not forgetting a good green tea toner to assist with those oily areas. The key is to learn to understand your skin, the benefits of certain ingredient in relation to your personal skin requirements and not blindly adding additional products to your routine. I have 8 different toners in my skincare library but no I do not use them all in a single routine but know when to bring each of them into action as required.

I do not always use them, but one is used if my skin can not tolerate a stronger exfoliation and it needs exfoliation and the other if my skin barrier is irritated and need layers of soothing hydration and calming ingredients. ❤ in the winter I do use toners more though, living in a pretty cold country in that time of year.

💜 I love toners (especially milky ones), but I can’t say it’s a necessity for me. My super sensitive skin can hardly handle the basics these days. I have recently found the Goodal Rice toner, which somehow doesn’t contain any of the many things I’m allergic to. I’m also tolerating (and enjoying) the corresponding moisturizer, so I’ve got my eye on that for when I can add an extra step into my routine 🤞🏻

Toners, boosters, humectants, oh my! The only 3 things I really need are a retinol, a simple moisturizer, and a mineral sunscreen. AM: wash, moisturize, sunscreen. PM: wash, moisturize, retinol. These 3 things are the ones that have actual scientific, peer reviewed, control based, studies to prove efficacy. Sometimes I do play around with the fancy stuff in pretty containers just for fun. But I don't really need them.

I ❤❤❤❤ toners and still use multiple layers of it, but I have deeply thirsty skin and I need that extra hydration. It’s also about size/price as I couldn’t afford to apply serums in the way I do toners. I’m extremely dry/dehydrated and hydrating toners are an essential for my skin. However I can see them feeling like an extra step for those who don’t have dry/dehydrated skin. Applying a serum to a damp from cleansing face isn’t enough hydration for me. I need my skin to feel quenched before I apply my serum/serums and moisturiser/spf to have any hope of not feeling like my skin is too tight by the end of the day. I’m prepared to spend the time layering to achieve this with the hydrating K beauty toners and essences I use. I’m careful about what I’m using them for and have an exfoliating essence that I use when required, but the majority of my toners and essences are all about hydration/moisture. I’m not layering nine or seven or whatever, but I usually use three - a spray, a watery toner and then an essence for texture and quenching. Skin trend’s come and go so for me it’s always about what works for me and this does. Best wishes x

❌️ I just do not have patience for toners, the liquid just goes everywhere, and I don't like using with a cotton pad either, I feel it is a bit ruff on my skin. So, If I want something more liquidy I much prefer a mist :P Otherwhise, serums in a gel texture I find much easier to apply.

The hardest part about my routine is choosing which three I’m going to use🤣 A lot of mine are going to expire soon, so I guess that will help me choose which ones to eliminate. I have so many favorites though. At 58 y/o I’m mainly looking for hydration, anti-aging & gentle exfoliation. I am super into all kinds of peptides, as many as I can get in a bottle, and using retinal. I’ve been using your MAS copper peptide serum & anti-aging oil with retinal and loving it!! I’ve never been able to use a retinols before w/out drying out my skin. Yours does not. What did you say the percentage of retinal is in your oil? Thx! Have a great day😊💕
