One interesting thing about your trip is that you allow us, those of us who live in other countries, to see a face of the USA different from the one shown by the cinema, advertising and tourism in general…, And you meet good people every day... Your simple and positive way of facing difficulties is very motivating. Keep pushing safety!!

Chad's explanation of being a trucker and learning to live and accept that traffic will be bad boils down to the serenity prayer "accept that which you cannot change, courage to change the things you can and wisdom to know the difference" which is the staple for mental health an addiction recovery. You don't even have to be religious to use it. It's just that logical of an idea to use. If you burn it into your mind you will take every situation in a much different and patient manner.

The great beauty of travel adventure is that we absorb the lessons. Experience teaches us things that take time to understand. Someone on here yesterday made reference to Lao Tzu and the idea that we feel depressed or anxious when we are focused on the past or the future. We feel settled when we can remain in presence. Similarities exist between long distance skateboarding and cycling, hiking or paddling. Yes, driving, too. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this. Always learning. I watch your videos on morning coffee break. Admit to some yearning for the path, but it will happen. Yo. 🖖😎

@4:10 you made that dog's day. Well done Sir! You can both be proud. Back in the 80's in junior high I used to skate three miles to school, skate somewhere to session and then usually more than three miles home. Since then I'd scoff at fools who walk with their boards or carry their board on a bike instead of just skating to where they're going. Now, since seeing you, I scoff twice as hard and feel a bit embarrassed that I didn't used to skate further. Well done Sir. That dog's got nothing to bark about.

Like lay on the ground and prop your legs on a wall vertically for like 10-15 minutes? Good way to help your blood circulation and maybe your swollen feet!

Dogs just want to play. They respond to fear hence when people fear them they respond. If we act like we want to play 100% of the time a loose dog will either be nice or run off from its own fear. Never pet a dog while eating. Always let them smell you first with fist closed. They will respond and let you know immediately if they are afraid but stand your ground and never show fear

Hey Chad - just wanted to say, your videos inspired me to do my longest skate to date. It was only a bit over 11 miles, to lunch and back (in the rain) but instead of driving like I normally would have (or even biking if I was ambitious,) I decided to skate. It was awesome and forced me to practice my SWITCH skating like you mention in the videos. 50+ miles a day is insane. BUT I see how its doable if the road isnt too bad and it isnt just straight uphill. It was so much fun. Thanks chad! DO YOU HAVE A STRAVA?

Tino pai tō mahi e hoa (great work my friend). Hope the shins settled down overnight. I here you on that being driven by 'common fears' thing. I remember seeing this experimental short film once (it was part of a programme of shorts one night) where the filmmaker was interrogating the 'culture of security' and contrasting danger as represented in the news media, where you get the most dramatic highlights stuffed into a short span of time. They gathered footage from an inner city security camera and randomly cut several minutes at a time from overnight into an 18min film in which nothing happened. The peak drama was a plastic bag blowing through frame and a stray cat wandering by. Like your experience, contrasts that idea that bad things are always happening, but most of the time they totally aren't. Love the thoughts you share in the vids man, keep it up 👍🏾😃

You should try Lidocaine cream. Best cream I've ever used for pain/ cramps. I can ride all day using it on my legs. Stay safe, God bless
