It's Not STUPID If It WORKS... But What Is It?

I got some projects finished and made an invention to help with one. PLUS, The County Engineer's Office stopped by to talk. I'll tell you what they said about my drainage project.

Hey Sam, the foil tool worked very well. Garden is looking good. You are getting great experience using the excavator, learning when to use it and when it doesn't work so well. Yup, using the right tool for the job is the way to go. Have a good one!

If that pipe wont hold with glue you could do plastic welding on it. The commercial products are usually meant for smaller scale plastic repair. So DIY solution would be to make the stables from wire or nails and just hold them with pliers and use torch or something to heat them up. Good amount of stables and the pipe will be solid.

If you can, always separate your organics into a separate pile. Also your topsoil needs to be separated from the rest. It will save you work later and give you options.

Morning Sam. Great video 10K is just around the corner. I was thinking 🤔 you probably already thought about it but I have seen people use a railroad tie and the thumb of the bucket to smooth out the grade after all the excavation. But the tiller and tractor may be faster.🤷🏻‍♂️ thanks for the video and keep on doing stuff. I can’t wait to retire and do more stuff 😂👍🚜💨☀️

Very cool garden. Those will definitely be to close together. My grandfather used to plant exactly that close then he would take half the plants that didn’t do as well. I remember asking why are we throwing out all these good plants. He said we grow double in case some do not do well. I start all my plants indoors now days, I like watching the Root health and discard and slow growing or damaged roots. I love growing stuff.

Lots of good stuff done today! Nice. It might be an idea to use a spray paint line to know how far back to excavate for the rough cut and for the final grade. It would give a straight line, or at least a planned line, for the start of the slope. Pretty easy for me to armchair quarterback though. Three fingers?! Ouch!

Sam you are figuring out the excavator is not a replacement for the tractor or vice versa. Both shine at different times more than others. Hope your pipe repair works. I'd went with cpvc pipe glue myself and sealed it with bedliner for strength and water tight. But let's hope you fixed it. Great job with everything BTW.

On your pipe, I just got through doing same thing but I didn’t use glue. But first, I wanted a tee that was 15x15x8 and was quoted around $250. I didn’t want to put that much into it and already had a 20 foot piece of pipe I was going to put in also. I researched and found out that the pipe is thermo plastic. So I cut a hole in the 15” pipe and put in a piece of 8” pipe. I used a small propane torch to melt the plastic and old screwdriver to smash the joint together. After it cooled, was as strong as the rest of the pipe!!!
