"It's Not Going To Get Better"-Dr. Olumide Emmanuel Speaks On Wealth Creation In Nigeria

Ойын-сауық

Wealth creation is an activity that is brought about by owning several streams of passive or active revenues under you. Essentially, wealth creation results from either increasing your income, adding an extra source, making high yield investments, or even thorough savings. However, regardless of how you get there, one thing is certain, which is the fact that you have to create value for others. Most individuals that built wealth, created innovative values that they converted to money. Therefore, having the mindset to create value is the best first step to take.

    It is sad that most Nigerians believe this false / 'poor American' narrative that children are evicted from their parents' homes in the West at 18. This is absolutely incorrect and mostly associated with poor or irresponsible people, particularly in Anglo-saxon societies. Living in Germany and Switzerland has changed that narrative for me and I continue to learn so much every day. Responsible and financially stable parents here in the West take care of their children...pay for their degrees, even at the post-graduate level and so many expenses related to those degrees. I used to look out my window every weekend when I stayed in the student dorm at the university, to see several parents visiting their children with a lot of groceries/ necessities. I have even seen several parents here in Germany buy homes for their children just to give them a head start. And these are not the billionaires of those societies. Please let us stop generalising the narrative of certain English-speaking westerners, who evict their children from homes or ask them to pay rent at 18 once they can no longer get government benefits on those children.

    You are very correct, white people understand the concept head start, and I have decided to follow that pattern of thought process. I am not kicking any of my kids out even at 18, they are living with as long as they financially capable to do except if one of the choose to live early, even at the end of financial mistake I will still take them in.

    Many British people, traditionally provide deposits for their children to buy their first house. In fact, now the trend us for children to move back home to be able to save while working.

    The best approach is to understand the fact that no man knows it all and if you are a Christian, always allow the Holy Spirit to filter information received. There are societal traditions abd expectations also that influence people, Jewish children are not call mature at the age of 18, they are trained to be mature earlier than that. My friend's daughter met a Jewish boy in his 20's with lots of real estate. When he told his father about her, his father asked her if she was ready to become a Jew, that they do not practice sex before marraige. My dismay about this Jewish guy is the way he thinks. You' ll think that he is 70, he is so highly responsible, mentally and emotionally mature. Secondly, you want to know your child's personality especially if you got information when a child is older. If you kick some children out at 18, doom and shame is waiting oh. If you are still waking that child up to study, pray. If you are still on his or her case regarding his friends, use of internet, bathing, cooking etc. You better train him beyond 18. It may seem sad but please applaud yourself for being honest and responsible. If your child is not saying no to drugs and immorality, please keep that child. With prayers, God's wisdom and hardwork, you shall overcome. I understand what Dr. Emmanuel is saying but please let's understand something, we learn from people and I appreciate him so much. I have watched some of his series but always understand your own personal situation. If your child is a people pleaser, please retrain, please be honest. It us not just about age. Is the child ready to face a world full of yes sheep but wolves also.

    U are right. But generally speaking, what happens in the western world is, kids start working at early stage in their life (btw age 13 to 18). They work @ Mc Donald's, they work in warehouse etc. Once they start earning steady income, the parents push some financial responsibilities to them. Be it, paying of water bills, electricity bills, WiFi or support in paying mortgage. Some may decide to move out and live with friends. Then they become independent. This is far contrast to what happens in Nigeria. Most of us finish high school, majority go for degree certificates. Hence, at age 27, we still live with parents.

  • @tosina6641

    @tosina6641

    11 ай бұрын

    @@bayobello2684 You see, the problem here is that you are also generalising like the guest on the show ('generally speaking', 'in the western world'). These generalisations are unfounded. That I am a Nigerian from West Africa, does not imply that someone from another West African country like Senegal, wouldn't find my ways weird. Secondly, that we see a certain 'segment' of the American society on TV or can only access certain 'classes' of Americans when we visit or live there does not make their realities a representation of that society. This is not to say that some kids don't work at a young age, rather it is that there are even struggling parents who stop their kids from taking these jobs. And this is just because they understand that the people your kids interact with in their formative years from ages 13 - 18, determine their life trajectory to a great extent. For Europeans 'in the western world', a lot of them have chosen to be child-free; heck, they rarely even get married. This is because even in societies with strong social security systems, they now understand the cost of raising kids and are not ready to make the sacrifices required to do that. Hence, a good number of the few who choose to have children dedicate their lives to giving their kids the best because no well-meaning parent wants their child to suffer. Most Africans and a lot of poor people around the world don't understand this. For most of them, their kids are a way to access government benefits in societies with good social security systems, until they cannot. This is when they start asking the 'child' to leave the home or contribute to household expenses. In Africa, kids are generally seen as the pension/retirement plan of most parents. My point is, please stop the generalizations. We have not lived in every country of the 'western world' to know what obtains there, because visiting a place is different from living in that society with an open mind.

    I can so relate with the aspect of going to school and wasting time, I've started doing what I'm into now before I entered University and after I finished I kept looking for jobs until I started my hair and makeover job all over again. So parents should help their children to discover what their good at before setting them out into the real world.

    Thank you Dr Olumide, Artificial intelligence can still not replace the clinical assessment of a medical practitioner. I understand the fact that not everyone needs to go to the university. Unfortunately the state of the Nigerian secondary schools don’t prepare our youth for the job market, therefore vocational training or university education is still very necessary in third world countries.

    I do agree with him on some of his views, however, the mistake we are making in Africa is that, AI will solve all the problems. No, AI solve already existing problem that man have input solutions. However on critical thinking, AI will only suggest possible way but, may not likely proffer the solution because man has not solve the problem. So education is still needed for critical thinking of new solutions to emerging problems. Besides, who service or carry out repairs/maintenance on AI program, man. So education is still needed, but the right kind of education is what we need most.

Society is suffering today because they have removed God Almighty, his promises for the future and his prophesies out of family. Things will not get better (not a curse!)! We are not wiser than God Almighty; we would be deceiving ourselves if we think we know better. We must run to God now to be happy. This current life is just a means to the future God has promised, let's not make it the end itself. The proud make it the end.

    Being this too negative about education is not really good. Even formal education is not only for earnings but to open you up to many opportunities and brighten your scope of reasoning. Education is to be seen as means to an end not the end itself.

    I was expecting this. No one should take this personal, it's just an illustration on the changes en trends. The world is changing and dynamic is the new thing, with tech taking a great deal of new things. There would be lawyers who would use AI to ungrade and excel, while the same AI would take some people's jobs.
