Plot twist: The ghost is just trying to return backpacks, and ask this guy if he knew anyone else that went hiking in the woods that lost a pack. Also, the bones in the campfire where just it giving a make-shift funeral to a dead hiker. And it wanted to ask this man if he could help find anyone who knew the hiker. But the problem? It lives in the woods, it doesn't have good social skills.

Seems to have a similar face to the bridge worm (written by the same person), if they happen to be related, it might suggest theres more than one "red ghost", instead of just a one off anomaly, perhaps a species

The number of basic things you DON'T do when out in the woods is fantastical with this guy. I have extreme doubt that he was an expert hiker. Even without The Dark Brotherhood on his tail, he'd be more likely not make it out of the woods eventually due to his lack of even basic research. That said, I did paranormal investigation professionally for many years. It sounds less like the red ghost and more like a human recluse who survives off of backpackers. The deer in the tree is a good indication of that. It's used as a warning to other woods-dwelling people as a marker of “territory” - As in, if you see a deer in the trees, turn around.

I do have one theory about the Red handprints, I think she did it’s just to mark her territory, dear I think she just put it on top of the tree for a The last warning, The campsite and backpacks oh that I get nothing from one of her previous victim, and why she return the backpack to him when she falls in home just to return it, possibly for leaving her woods alone?

Maybe it prefers the meat rotten or it had enough and it stored the rest of the deer on the branches for later, so it could not get stolen by wolves or bears. Some animals do something similar and it's also a good advice to campers to put your food on branches of trees and not just on the ground.
