You can no longer collect this amazing fish from the ocean. This amazing saltwater reef fish comes from the oceans of Hawaii. Because of illegal collecting of this beautiful saltwater aquarium fish you can no longer get them from the wild. It is the beautiful zebrasoma yellow tang. The only way to get this fish now is through breeding programs. I was Lucky enough to acquire this fish over a year ago while it was still legal to do so from my local fish store.

my quetion about i have mixed malawi tank and in that there is one 9 inches fuscotaneous he always try to grab small fishes but i want to add 3 clown loaches which they are 4" in my tank so can i add them plz answer your advice is valuable for me
Ya your very lucky to have one I saw one at a petco for 30 bucks yesterday!!! But don’t have room, have you seen my new reef tank lately?

I got a pair of foxface and rabbit fish and my parents for Christmas got me a even bigger tank . Your tank is such a inspiration
Good hope this forces the breeding effort to take off for them like it has for the blue tangs.
Love the Yellow Tangs! That's probably why the price of them has jumped @ LFS

No fish should be wild caught there are so many species in captivity. Tank raised only here 👍

Yeah there are. But they got there from wild caught in the past. They are having success breeding yellow tangs in captivity. 😀

Sadly even in today most saltwater fishes are wild caught unlike freshwater where almost all fishes are captive breed Problem is that breeding of tangs , angels, butterfly etc etc are extremely difficult. Those fishes are pelagic breeders . Pelagic breeders release their eggs on open water coloumn . and their newborn babies are very fragile , under developed.. they are extremely difficult to raise in captivity Unlike clownfish, gobies , cardinals which are egg layers - gives birth mature babies - they are easy to raise - only you need cultured rotifers and phytoplankton etc. And some saltwater fishes simply don't breed in home aquarium.
