As an OM-1 user, I sincerely hope that, as they have always indicated and promised us, an update relating to AF only arrives also for us customers who have placed their trust in the new OM SYSTEM brand because AF tracking on people was already missing, ( compared to other brands), right from the start. The OM-1 is a fabulous machine and I would buy it again and I also understand that the release of this new model was a must due to the expiration of the name and not to fall behind the releases of competing brands (see Panasonic G9II) . But if they don't keep their promises due to marketing alone, customers will think twice before investing more money in the system.

Some reviews slated it as the OM 1 was actually developed by Olympus where as this update is by OM Systems which some people think will be the last.

you've had all the updates! OM (on YT) officially said there will be no new AF FW feature updates for OM1.1 (serious bugs will be patched) its a dead end, firmware is the death of ALL electronics.

Hi Emilie The OM1 mark ii and the 150-600mm lens are not for me. No significant advantage over my OM-1 cameras and 150-400mm+x1.25TC shooting wildlife photography and video. I will wait for the OM-1X with more powerful processor and memory and improved sensor and the 600mm f5.6 professional prime lens. Currently looking at the Panasonic G9 mark ii particularly for the video capability and also considering the Panasonic 50-200mm lens since there has been no movement of this medium telephoto on the OM System lens map.

I am not aware of any future OM SYSTEM products. I can only comment on the products that I know and are on the market and not rumors. I understand that not everybody will upgrade but as I said in my video, I am very excited about the upgrade that OM SYSTEM put in their new OM-1 mark II.

@@EmilieT Hi Emilie. Only joking, no rumour, about the OM-1X (EM1-X) and the 600mm pro prime lens. But that is the sort of camera and lens in which I would be interested 😊 The only other lens that I have been waiting for is the 50-250mm (Internal Zoom) which has been on the lens road map for years. This medium telephoto would be great for wildlife video work. Great M4/3rds cat today with Rob Trek.

Some nice improvements to an already great camera! Also, a bit off topic but enjoyed your contribution to the Rod Trek event this morning! When folks were suggesting also a need for smaller mft camera’s with great features ( I agree with this) for more casual use you should have mentioned that it exists on the OM side…the OM5!

While I am commenting, slightly off topic, but I think it is harder to manually focus when the 1.4 teleconverter is on, vs 300mm alone. and peaking is harder to see.

hi Emillie nice to see you so happy with your new equipment, enjoy it. even though the reactions to the modified Om-1 Mark II and the sigma lens are not very positive. The Om-1 mark II is a rebranded and software updated OM-1. This sigma lens also does not have 8.5 stops of image stabilization at the extreme range, but only 6. stops at 600MM. I know I sound pickles, but I sincerely mean well with you and with Om systems in general.❤

Great to see that you got the new gear. I am looking forward to your review. I got the OM-1 MkII on pre-order. I haven't decided if I am trading in my OM-1 or keep it for a 2nd camera. No plans or buying the 150-600 lens since I already own the 150-400 lens.

@@EmilieT My OM-5 is serving really well as a backup to my OM-1. I will definitely keep my OM-5. I don't know about the original OM-1.

The OM-1 has interesting new features! It's cool seeing your photos from a beautiful area that I've driven through. The lens is quite an interesting addition to the lineup. It's causing quite a buzz with speculation of it's origin. I look forward to hearing more in the future👍👍

If you want to save some money, buy the amazing OM-1 (you can get it used) and invest the rest of your money in pro lenses.

More Ram just say we can do things faster ... so all those features can be done in OM1 I ... (maybe they will run a bit slower due to memory management)

I look forward to seeing an evaluation of the subject recognition AF, especially birds among branches and twigs, using the Mark II.]. I have the OM1 mark1, 300mm lens, and bird recognition works best with a clear view and a bright reflection off the eye. But it focuses on nearer branches or twigs all too often, especially if there is not a reflection in the eye to help eye focus.

Hi Calvin! Yes, trade value is never in the costumer's favor. If you sale your camera, you are better off selling it on your own.

It's not for an average photography-lover. Makes me really angry watching videos promoting photo-equipment only few can afford... Btw, it's not a science to get good pics with such a lens & a camera thich doesn't required much skills to press the shutter and you know that. ​@@elwirastadnik if you think the other brands have cheaper gear well go and get that. To use this camera and lenses you need as much knowledge about photography as you need with all brands. Start saving some money if you want this kind of gear, that's what I have done for years. My income is about 400 dollar per month, yes you read right, 400 dollar but I can afford it anyway because I have saved money for many years before I got sick. So just do someting about your situation instead of whining to Emelie. Maby wait for a while and get the camera and lens on the used market, mpb for example. Thats what I do most of the time, but this time I have preordered the camera. I choose this kind of things instead of expensive clothes, luxury food, luxury travel and other expensive habits and prioritaise what I do whit my money.

Whoa that's quite a new camera & lens setup Emilie! It looks as big as my Nikon Z8 & 100-400 lens! Congrats, I'm excited for you to be testing them out. We must get together to shoot soon - I'm very curious how this new system works :)

I there my friend! Yes it is definitely on the bigger side for the lens and I personally will keep shooting with the 150-400 but this new lens will be great for video as a second body and I can use it on a tripod. At least that is my plan :)

Ahaha :) I would say you are paying attention to the whole picture here. I am using the promaster glove: promaster.com/Search?term=gloves&x=0&y=0. They are great but for extreme cold conditions, I would look for mittens and a liner.

@@EmilieT oui voici un des exemples de personnes qui connaît parfaitement ces boîtiers Olympus avant et om system aujourd'hui et qui démontre concrètement que cela ne marche pratiquement pas voire pas du tout et qui indique un autofocus plus épuré au niveau des cadran blanc certes, mais qui n'est pas du tout plus efficace en réalité, les tests sont flagrants à ce sujets : kzread.info/dash/bejne/k5hnlMqzk5a8n6w.htmlsi=_b3cIhjS-mfnKKnG Autre point, comparé aux ambassadeurs ils précisent clairement aussi que les filtres dégradés ne fonctionnent pas dans les circonstances de mouvements avec des paysages d'eaux, des oiseaux qui passent dans le paysage etc (cf ses démonstrations) choses que je n'ai entendu aussi clairement et explicitement dans aucune vidéos d'ambassadeurs que j'ai pu voire pour l'instant, je ne comprends pas pourquoi ce manque de clarté car cela me semble assez trompeur de ne pas le dire même si j'imagine que ce n'est pas votre intention, mais pourquoi ne pas détaillés ces points alors.. Does the om1 and the om1 narkii share the same body. I'm asking cuz I'm looking to by a skin for the om1 mark ii . If they are the same body then I can order the skin for the om1 cuz there aren't any for the mark ii yet. How is the af. Is it actually a big improvement?

Same body as far as I can see. AF detection for bird in branches is definitely improved.

@@EmilieT hi. I am trading in my om1 for the mk2. I read thete us an af firmware upgrade for the om1 but it still will not be as responsive as the mk2. The C-af on the mk2 is what I'm most concerned about. Is it stickier than the om1. I'm also more confident that because of more ram in the mk2 that we can expect more firmware updates to work out any kinks or ad a new feature perhaps. But again the C-af. Coming from a sony a1 user that af was incredible. But wanting to downsize i got the om1. Can I expect better stickier af with C-af? Thank you for your replies. If you could give me your honest opinion and the facts I would sincerely and greatly appreciate it. 🙏

Hard to compare with sony as i never shoot with a sony camera. Do you live close to a camera store who has the camera. My best advice is to go and try it out. For me I was already quite happy with my OM-1 mark I C-AF capacity.@@r51234x

@@EmilieT yeah unfortunately they don't allow you to try them put here. Unless it's a floor model but something this new there's no chance. I keep hearing the mk2 has better C-af that the m1 and that even the firmware update in the fall still won't make it as sticky. Idk.

Goodmorning. I got all that info from other reviewers. About the af being updated on the om1 buy still not quite as sticky as the m2 still. Plus there being more ram i think it's safe to say that there could be more firmware updates on the m2 in the future to perhaps work out any kinks or enhance features. I would however love to tell you that you are by far my favorite ambassador. Your enthusiasm, energy, genuinity, joy and love for this art form is contagious. Your videos are informative and fun to watch. And I appreciate you taking the time to actually reply to your fans. Please don't misunderstand my questioning. I am in no way trying to belittle or say that the om1 is an awful camera. In my opinion for the features it has it is definitely one of the best to come out on the market. I really do like mine alot. However that being said the updates on the new m2 is enough to want me to upgrade. Thankyou for your videos and sincerity. Keep up the amazing work.

Nice but I can understand getting the new camera as I will too, But why the lens? If you have the 150-400 no need for it. Stick a 1.4 tele on your 150-400 and it will be sharper than this lens.

Great question! I would use it as a second body for filming. Would give me the distance and a cheaper second telephoto lens than the 150-400. I am not sure I can justify having 2 150-400...but maybe in the future.

The OM1 II has some nice new features. I am not impressed with the 150-600mm lens. Being able to turn the camera on/off with just the right hand has been overlooked yet again. Yes, you can use the toggle to do that. You lose the function. Canon, Nikon and the Panasonic G9 do it. It took long enough for Olympus to add the multidirectional joystick to control movement. Canon had this for a long time. Not being able to update firmware via card or save settings to a card. I own the OM-1, 100-400 and the 150-400 f/4.5 lens. No camera company is great, they all do dumb things. I have bashed Canon when I owned Canon gear. There should have been a bit more. At least we can use the same batteries and grip.

Nice features on a nice camera but a terrible firm behind it. I mailed with them about the faults in the firmware of the mark 1. They are not planning any firmware for it. So you are insane if you buy the mark 2 to discover that in 1.5 years your camera will not be updated anymore when they bring out a mark 3 (with some nice same features like again the same sensor/processor but now with a rubberized shutter button). Oh and about lenses, you should wait for the 4.5 kg 200-1000mm f16-f32 that comes with the mark 3. Back to my new G9II, respecting it more and more each day.

It is like saying you will not buy a new iPad or PC because the one you bought a year ago can't be updated. I personally love my camera and I ordered the OM-1 Mark II because there are features I want that are not available in the OM-1 and that would take more than a firmware update to get.

We have been getting new firmware since the OM-1 was first released. We are just getting a new camera, with a few more features, same as iPad or iPhone. But if you bought an iPad 9 months before the new iPad was released you would still not get all the power and features of the newer iPad, just the updates firmware. @@EmilieTok you do not get it, software (ios) on all ipads etc is the same, the comparison does not fit, I am not alone in my point of view, OM is following Pentax

The live GND filters are BRILLIANT. I'd pay extra for that as a set of dedicated filters like that cost at least 100 dollars, but this gives a filter to ALL lenses. Just awesome.

there are a few usage issues with GND regarding subject movement. if your trees sway the camera stacks whatever its tiny brain decides, could be sharp or blurry! once in GND mode, you cannot change exposure settings because dials are locked out. Then it takes 5 seconds to process, meanwhile the bird flying over the sunset is there, gone or edited out forever lost. Thoughts ? @EmilieT

Two years for that? The bosses of OM-System are scraping the bottom of the drawers. It doesn't smell good at OM...

Well that is an updated OM-1. I am personally super excited about all the features I talked about and the improvement OM SYSTEM made to this camera. But as I said in my video, it doesn't mean everybody will update their camera. I don't update my iPhone every year for example.

They promised good updates on their site. The update that comes to the authum cant be planed, it had been ready already... they did that to calm the storm. It is a petition that has over 1000 signatures allready.

C'est bien de voir un youtubeur qui cause des molettes. Quand on compare celles de l'OM10 à celle de l'OMS OM1 on se demande si quelqu'un essaye des appareils photos chez OMS Systme avant de les vendre. Celles de l'OM10 sont royales, celles de l'OMS OM1 complètement ratées. Celles ci sont elles vraiment différentes ? Savez vous si Olympus accepte de remplacer celles de l OMS OM1 par celles de l OMS OM1-2 ? merci pour la vidéo

I buy my gear with my own money and I pre-ordered my camera and lens like everyone else. The views expressed in my videos are mine and OM SYSTEM has not asked me to do this video.

Em1 mk 3 has much better ergonomic !!!

Landscape camera? nope not with 20mp, high res mode with any movement and you have artifacts, until that changes its only good for still life. Ambassadors why do companies bother ? we all know they are always going to praise the product, total waste of time and not objective.

Hi Steven. 20mp are not an issue for me. OM SYSTEM has not asked me to do this video. I accepted to be an ambassador because I love my OM SYSTEM gear and it has changed my photography. I speak about my experience and as I say in my video, I don't expect everybody to share my experience or view on some of the updates. I also disclosed from the beginning of my video that I am an OM SYSTEM ambassador. Companies bother about ambassadors because we know how to use their products and get the best out of them instead of finding mega-pixel excuses for example.
