@@dystrct Cars 1 and 3 are amazing, but Mater isn’t the main focus in those films. You can SKIP Cars 2 and not miss anything.

I just rewatched Cars 2 and I completely forgot how good the music is. Sure they focused on Mater more and added the spy stuff but I still love this movie. I remember when my grandma took my brother and I to the movies to go see the movie

They honestly could of had some spin-off where it focused on the spy aspect. Also I could of sworn remember hearing that they originally had that idea, but idk if It’s something else or switching my memory around.

The problem for me is that the movie feels like three movies smushed together. We have the World Prix racing movie, the James Bond spy movie, and we have the Mater comedy focus. Each individual part can be pulled off well, but when put them all together, they take screentime away from each other that degrades the whole feature. The best movies like this only combine two dissimilar aspects, three is just a complication. The racing part could work well with the spy plot in the background, and the spy and Mater stuff could work as a more overt spy parody, but all together it's just not as good as it could be.

my POV of this movie is that the events from it are semi-cannon (the races) but the whole spy and guns thing was added by mater like he's telling it in one of his tall tale stories.

@@Elavator66 Fun fact: the score that plays during the scene when Mater is telling his friends about what happened in Cars 2 is literally called "Mater's Tall Tales". Also when Finn McMissile gives the Turbines to Mater a track called "The Turbomater" plays, which is a reference to Terminator, but it also sounds like a reference to the name of every "Tall Tales" episode.

Absolutely. It was a terrible addition to the cars franchise, but if you turn your brain off and ignore how it affects the canon, it can be enjoyed like around a 7/10

He's a pretty famous composer. He composed a few other Pixar movies, such as UP, also the MCU Spider-Man movies (the ones with TH). Hope this helps.
