IT'S FINISHED! New carpet & Seat Covers make this GMT800 look brand new! Plus, Paintless Dent Repair
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Last video we towed home our wrecked 2002 Chevrolet Silverado Z71. We picked it up cheap because it had been wrecked and abandoned by the previous owner. Thankfully they did source a lot of parts needed to fix and left them in it before they abandoned the project.
In this video, we completely transform the interior of the truck with new seat covers from eBay and new ACC carpet from Rockauto. The difference was amazing, the interior looks factory fresh and smells new. While we were inside the truck we updated the door speakers with a 6.5" component set and tinted the windows. But, It didn't stop there. We then pulled a bunch of hail dents with a cheap Amazon paintless dent puller, installed new headlights from Amazon and fixed a pair of faulty knock sensors.
What a truck, this truly was the last generation of perfect GM trucks. You cant beat the recliners these have for seats and aside from the transmission, they are bullet proof. Its already 20 years old, but I know it will serve my son well for years to come.

Son should be grateful for a dad like you, nice job!
you are an awesome dad Josh, love how you really came through for your son
Beautiful truck. A truck that still is a truck and not a multi media center that happens to have wheels.
What an awesome father son project! Great work! Thanks for the content!
Good seeing you back around Josh. Awsome project with boy. 😇
I should have done the same thing with my boys. They saved up to purchase their first cars. They decided on turnkey / ready to roll. But it would have been fun to work with them. Great job on an awesome truck.
With these cheap dent puller kits you could also take out the fender liner and have somebody also massage the inside of the dent as you pull it from the outside for better results.
can't go wrong for $300 truck and spending quality father/son time working on it together. I'm sure he's going to enjoy the truck for years to come. It was nice to reupholster the seats and new carpeting , headlights and other components for his truck.
For Gavin's first vehicle, that is a really nice truck. It should be dependable, but if it does break, it is easy to work on and will be a good learning experience for Gavin
Great rebuild. Please consider getting some kind of theft prevention. Most people don't realize that people will steal anything even if it's old.

Yup same happened to me, luckily had an AirTag so I got my truck back.
Another great little series just like the Ranger series. Love seeing people purchase inexpensive vehicles and fix them up on a reasonable budget just to see the awesome transformation. Hope to see your son's reaction and enjoyment of the "New" truck.
Video approved, click.
Josh kids could only be so lucky to have a dad like you
Your dad would be proud!
Cameron has a nice shop! Great work!
Always a good day when you upload a video notifications on!
Great looking truck! Awesome father and son project!!
Great progress, truck is really coming together. I would love it if you could give us a price breakdown when you are all done.
Hell yea Josh
Hellova first vehicle!
Excellent work, the side of the truck looks amazing! Solid content and truck. Hey FRG, I enjoy long videos when working on cars.
This reminds me of my first truck. 2001 GMC Sierra in pewter. Had the same interior. I loved that truck.
When are we gonna see you at JR's new shop?
Another great video
I think this is the same year truck my friend gave his son for a first vehicle. His pickup had a perfect body and a tired engine. They rebuilt it together including the trans with a friend who specializes in transmissions. It's now lifted with big wheels and a killer stereo. I'll share the link with him.
wow things are really different in Kansas .. Broken windshield like that would not be a wise idea to bring to a DMV test.
Pretty damn desirable truck!
Looks pretty sharp. Good work!
You missed a lot of opportunities for great content. Most of us watch these videos to see the work. Lots of talk showing parts in boxes and then finished shots after the install are not going to keep my interest. Some good content and the concept of fixing up the truck with your son is what caught my eye.

I thought the routine stuff would be boring, and I wanted to keep the truck to a 3 video series. Message received.
But did Gavin get his license?
Change the cabin air filter on that truck. I bet it’s clogged up

It was. There was a mouse nest sitting ontop of the blower motor.
I'd love to see what kind of solution you come up with for the rockers and cab corners

easy to work on, cheap parts - junkyard has lots of good spare parts - forget ebay - with the junkyard you know what you are getting and cheaper than ebay
Great project with you and your son ! Did the PDR work ?

It took about 80% of the dents completely out. And pulled about 50% of the dents it couldn't get fully out.

Your son is like twice the size of the last time I saw him
Too bad your kid didn't help you fix up his truck. Some kids don't know how lucky they are.
