IT'S FINALLY HERE!! Frogfish Mochi!!

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

The 17g Dropoff tank was set up with a Frogfish in mind, after half a year the tank has finally matured enough to host it's first frogfish!

    Thing is with drip acclimating of fish that has been in transport for longer than a couple hours, The buildup of CO2 reduces the pH making the water more acidic and therefore the ammonia that has built up over the last 12 hours also becomes non-toxic to the fish. However when you open the bag to do drip acclamation you suddenly oxygenate the environment and the pH shoots back up to neutral and instantly makes the ammonia toxic to the fish. As soon as you open the bag you should release the fish out of the old water. Have only just found your channel love your videos has inspired me to get into salt water aquariums

    +Kyo Jane I believe they grow up to around 5", they hardly move around though, so as long as the water quality can be kept space doesn't seem like too big a concern. My opinion may change once Mochi gets larger and if he becomes more active! I think 20g is usually the minimum recommended tank size. Please let me know if you do set up a Frogfish tank!

    I paid $100 for the fish and around $37 shipping from a private seller. I think DD has them once in awhile for around $150 - $199 shipped. Hmm, 14g would be OK for a juvenile, may be pushing it a little for a full grown one.

  • @InappropriateReefer

    @InappropriateReefer

    I'd imagine it being a very tight fit. I think Frogfish + Dwarf Lion MAY be ok (be sure to have great filtration), 29g for an eel would probably push it over the edge, even if it's one of the smaller Golden Dwarf.
