I will provide my opinion on the two versions: I think the remake has cleaner line art, although, I will continue to have a soft spot for those distinct Adobe Flash CS6 brush strokes. I prefer the way Steve spawns into this world, I think it's more interesting in the remake, particularly with how we see him starting off as a stylized human before transforming into a voxelated representation of himself, whereas in the original, he just spawns in, already voxelated, looking downward. I think the colors in the remake are more vibrant, although, I will continue to have a soft spot for the muted color scheme of the original video. Regarding the facial expressions, they do definitely give off their own distinct energy. I think the original animation has that particular sketchy early-2010s rage comic influence on the facial expressions. Highly detailed (crusty) lips, eyebags, and how everyone is cross-eyed. I think the remake provides a modernized flair that doesn't sacrifice the spirit of the source material. I think the remake overall has a rounder feel to its drawings, which is not inherently a bad thing, it's a matter of preference, really. I personally like this change! One last thing, I do think in the original animation, Steve's punch has more impact here (0:39), probably because of the added smear frame that takes place between the anticipation and the punch. Another thing to note is how in the original animation, Steve slides forward during his punch. I also think that in the original animation, his punching pose is a little more dynamic due to his posture, I think him being slouched contributed to this. Other than that, I like both animations! It is purely a matter of preference. As someone who grew up watching the original since childhood, I will obviously have a soft spot for it. Thank you for bringing back memories, Sam!
