@glennkreisel7943 I do agree with that. But it's the attitude they take as ex players knowing full well someone else thought the same about them at a point in time when they got drafted. I believe players should actually take the stance "Let's just wait and see " . We all knew what Alex was....he had had opportunities to prove he could win in those stressful big games. He wasn't the guy. Reid and Veach seen something in Mahomes. The rest is history. Good point though. I like it.

@@DaCaveKast for sure I get where you’re coming from, but you also gotta think about this. That’s not a real conversation between shannon and someone else. That’s a convo between a tv host and a tv host tryin to get ratings, one person has to take a side, hell even Skip Bayless actually said he liked mahomes the most coming out of that draft. Now look at him😂

@@DaCaveKastthis is a good video. I’m curious how actual Chiefs fans objectively felt the night of then draft when he was picked? I remember thinking, while I’m not sure how this guys talent will translate to the pros, I did feel like he was in a good spot to succeed compared to where he could have gone in the draft

@jonathangodsall3010 it's a good question ... I thought at the time they chiefs would get screwed out of a QB that year...damn sure I thought buffalo was taking Deshaun Watson. I remember seeing Mahomes name come up in some circles, but I really thought he would be gone by 20

When Cris & Shannon didn’t like the pick so much Skip was also at the table & actually picked Mahomes as the best QB of the draft. Even Doug Gottlieb liked Mahomes. I saw a pre draft video of Mahomes passes being clocked with a radar gun but thought he was going to sit for more than a season by the team that drafted him because of the talking heads. Imagine the Bears passing on Mahomes for Trubisky.

@@DaCaveKast Was Gottlieb filling in for Colin Cowherd in that clip? It seems to be in 2017 from after Mahomes was drafted but before he started that last game of the season for the Chiefs where he’s repeating Mike Grundy saying that he expects Mahomes to do well. I don’t remember seeing that back when it would’ve aired nor what Gottlieb predicted for Mahomes. I just remember him taking over the league with practically the first game of 2018. He smoked my Steelers Wally in the season & was the best player on the field. I like everything about Mahomes.

some perhaps...but others { Sharp, Cater, etc. ) didn't like the pick cause the thought was the chiefs were ready to win at that moment and picking a rookie didn't improve their chances of doing that . Especially at QB

He did need some fine tuning.

Possibly... but he was young, and you have to have a playmaker. I think they helped ... but I also think Alex Smith was the biggest influence.

The ones in 2017 doesn't mean as much as the ones in 2022 after tyreek trade. They KNEW better and still fell on their faces
