It's been decided... we want to CHANNEL the car 4 inches 😎

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

We've been back and forth on whether we should channel the body OR keep it a highboy. We don't really enjoy the look of all the holes in the side of the frame so that's what made us decide to channel it. By channeling it 4", it will bring the body down far enough that the frame will be hidden. The first step will be to strengthen up the b-pillar 🦾

    The bead rolling doesn’t need to be perfect as long as the floor gets stiffened. If you don’t own a bead roller, you can make a die out of a piece of hardwood , carve out a half round groove slightly larger than the bead you want to account for the thickness of the sheet metal, then use a piece of metal rod and hammer the rod into the sheet metal placing another piece of hardwood over the steel rod so you don’t bend the rod. Diagonal bead rolls can be made.

    If the body drops 4" - what happens to the rear-end stance you wanted to keep? Not to mention, the 4" over your head is from sitting at floor level - 4" seat bottom ?

    Why’s everyone getting so riled? It’s his project, he’ll build it his way. Allot of times, I kind of get lost on what he’s doing, but I sit back and watch the progress. As far as mistakes, if you never make mistakes, you never do anything. At least he doesn’t edit them out like some other builder videos.

    I would have put 4" sells on each side of the car that way it would cover the frame i think it would be much easier and less work and time an it would look better and you would have more head room an it wount look out of place because he going to race the floor 4" so that's 4" up long the bottom of the doors not only that it's going to throw the wheel wells off. Thats funny he is saying he build a car in 30 days its not going to be finished so if the car is not all the way finished then the car it not built in 30 days.

    If you drop it 4" the back tires won't fit in the wheel wells. The way the body sits is part of what made it so cool. Sure looks like the tires will rub the body in the back, and it also reduces the interior space even more. I think the tunnel is bigger than it needs to be too. Love the chop and the car, but I think this is a mistake to channel it. I also think you should try to make a bench seat work if possible.

  • @charlielemmons5525

    @charlielemmons5525

    The tunnel can't be any lower because the engine and transmission are sitting high up in the frame. No way a bench seat will work because the tunnel is more like a console.

I love watching what they build and I don’t like too say he’s doing something wrong, because I don’t know what’s in his head.. But if you want 4” and nothing more than that, then you should measure from underneath the floor section, not from the top of the floor.. But what do I know, I’m just a ex contractor who measured for a living..

    I say some negative things about Chad but I really think that nobody and I mean nobody can build as fast as him and I truly believe that the floors he does is very smart because he obviously knows that he's working with twisted up junk so when he builds the floors like he does means it will always come out perfect to whatever twisted frame he's working with.
