'adjusts glasses' -Horrible work environments. -Underpaid employees. -Horrible products. -Horribly overpriced products. -Day one microtransactions. As with anything with these type of situations, you could argue that Capcom is greedy for making people rebuy Resident-Evil 2. Yeah, sure. It has a different third-person camera, different gameplay, totally different graphical artstyle, revamped bosses. But no, it's the same game as the 1990s version, it's just greed. Not like servers are expensive, employees are expensive, etc. If you want also 'ANOTHER' example of the exact same situation as this, but worse. Rockstar forced last-gen players to rebuy the next-gen version of GTA5. If it was completely different from day-one, and was on either a different engine or a complete rewrite of the coding, then that wouldn't had been bad. Nope, it was literally the same game as the 360/PS3 version, just ported to the next-gen consoles that you had to pay for. They just decided to stop updating the older version (which they could've easily since it's not like the next-gen version gave anything new in a technological sense) and only updated the next-gen version.

I would imagine ark 2 gets delayed again in 2024 as they start to work on the new ark 2 nfts and microtransactions

A bitter appeal for Wildcard devs Roadmap... It was so bad and I don't understand why few days ago Jeremy Stieglitz was so excited - we've got only bad news. I expected this roadmap to be dissapointing because I was expecting delays but it isn't dissapointing, it's just sad. Everyone expected ARK 2 moved to 2024 but rather early 2024 not end of 2024 (so probably early 2025 because we will have a few small delays just before ARK 2 launch for sure as always). In June 2025 we'll have 10th ARK: Survival Evolved launch anniversary so can you guys from Wildcard just promise us that you will give us ARK 2 not later than 10 years after ARK: Survival Evolved? Or maybe better not promise because my main problem in this roadmap are broken promises. First about ARK UE 5 update. Me and for sure many other ARK players would be ok with paid remaster (you can buy new version of ARK and support Wildard in making ARK 2). But there is one big problem - you announced ARK UE 5 update will be free for all ARK: Survival Evolved players and now you changed your mind (it looks like you were surprised not only how much time but also how much money do you need for making ARK 2 - it shouldn't be a surprise for experienced devs like you). That's first broken promise and many ARK players will call it was a lie. Also there is still a big group of players in official servers so if they want to play ARK: SE in the future like this they will be forced to buy ASA. I also don't like idea of paying for DLCs maps again. If you want us to pay for ARK remaster just give us one final price for everything. Now about ARK Animated Series. At start of 2023 you promised us that it's just around the corner and people are expecting this series very, very soon. Today you wrote just few words informing us that you still even don't know on what platform the series will launch, also no date when to expect this show. That's second broken promise. Will we see Animated Series in first half of 2023? That's why I'm sad now and why I can't trust you guys anymore. Just don't make promises if you are not sure you can keep it. Respect your community. You should know it but you still make the same mistakes again and again. There will be no ARK 2 gameplay trailer or screenshots this year. I just hope when you released info about ARK 2 in 2020 you've already making this game, it wasn't just a idea and now ARK 2 is very advanced in development right now but not ready to be shown yet. But you should be ready to show us how ARK: Survival Ascended looks on UE 5 and I think all of our community of ARK players would like to see some trailer soon. So don't promie us this trailer, just show it to us. So please Wildcard - no more promises, just show us new trailer of ARK on UE 5 and inform us when you know where and when we will be able to watch Animated Series. Restore our faith in you. You have to change a lot in communication with fans. Good luck.

I feel like no one is mentioning the PS Plus free version that was given away. I never played ARK until I got it for free...I imagine many many people did as well. And plenty of people probably get access from gamepass or something...which means by turning the server access off to those versions, they can "force" players to pay them directly for access. Not really accounting for the fact that most people just...wont...and they'll be killing their game with this move. Way to shoot yourself in the foot Wildcard. Havent seen videogame suicide like this since Anthem "promised" to not give up on development. 😂😂

Paid mods was a nail in the coffin for me. Don't get me wrong, I like that modders can get some financial support for their work, but I think that it should be optional, players should have a choice. I was extremely worried about mods since they announced ASA because I have a lot of mods and I can't imagine playing without some of them. And now there is a possibility that some of these mods can be locked behind paywall. Great.

I think the biggest thing that annoys me is the state that Ark SE is still in. They said they'd look into DLSS years ago, now it's gonna be $60 to get it on a separate version. Non-dedicated servers still have tons of bugs, mesh exploits, general performance, the list goes on. They've given us no reason to trust them with a new version when they can't treat the original well.

Ark is the only game my lady plays. After filling her in about all the new charges I think I have her talked into ditching it altogether. If she buys it again I have to buy it too and I don't want to get ripped off. I installed Borderlands 3 on her PC and I hope she gets into it. In the meantime I have to find another game for her.

For me to rebuy this it better be a damn good remake...like with a lot better visuals and absolutely none of the bugs from Ark SE. Even then I'll wait for a sale..

Ark survival evolved already ran like shit on every gaming console, including PC. If this remaster is a fucking miracle and the game runs perfectly, I'll MAYBE give it a look. But fuck, being forced to pay $90 dollars for a game you already own is fucking scummy

I don't personally play any of the official servers but for the sake of those that do I really do hope that at the VERY least they either go back on that decision, or the game gets more delayed so they stay open longer lmao

I don't usually do this but I changed my review to "Not Recommended" and also uninstalled the game (yay storage space again lol). End of an Era for me. I'll support them again when they stop doing stupid things...oh wait...lol

We'll just have to wait and see how it pans out. Of course, with enough feedback there may be some changes and I'm sure mods will always stay free on Steam. At the very least we know what is being planned rather than nothing at all

No we the PC players, will still have to pay for the mods, since now if we want the cross over whit consoles, then we to need to pay for mods, we otherwise always have been free.

The community should be getting together and going after the devs/Wildcard Jeremy said ark UE5 was “ FREE”. Now they charging. Pretty sure they can be sued for lying to the public. It’s not first time wildcard devs have lied to ark community. Many other studio have offer free upgrade for current gen console. Or at least $10-15$ for upgrade. That be ok. But forcing us rebuy it all is scummy move.

Even Wildcard employees don't like what snail games is doing, it's all snail games' fault to be completely honest. If it wasnt for them then we could probably get the upgrade for a cheaper price or even just a discount because having to buy the dlcs again is just pure bullshit

At least with the paid mods it is up to the modder if they want to sell they can still make their mods for free as I understand it. Also, the mods are cross-platform now not just for pc. What I was told.

Wow, I pretty much everything about ARK: Survival Ascended, but I never knew that you would have o buy everything again, now that’s screwed up, I can’t believe wildcard for this.

The people that arn't pissed about the servers shutting down are the unoffical server players. I'm not happy about the decision to reverse the "free" upgrade, especally since they are pretty much forcing fans of the game to buy ARK 2 in order to continue to play ARK 1....the fact many ARK players are already not happy with how they are describing the ARK 2 game is probably one of the major factors into this decision.

You can purchase it separately. I'm a beta player of ASE and wouldn't mind having that month without others in Ark2 beta. This isn't the first time we've been told we were getting something for free from them. They tried to charge beta testers for SE, and that failed.

I was thinking that ark 2 would basically just be a foundational overhaul like what ascended seems to be (which, while lame for a sequel, is DESPERATELY needed). Ark has plenty of content at this point, what it needs is to not be fundamentally broken and bloated. I was expecting the sequel to basically be a bugfix and I was still let down. THAT IS ALL ARK NEEDS, it doesn't need 35 new dinos and 8 new maps, IT NEEDS TO HAVE A STABLE FRAMERATE AND NOT TAKE UP HALF MY HARD DRIVE

I have changed my time frame for Ark 2 from June 2024 to September 2025 😂

I bought the original game way back when it was still early enough in development for the bugs to be justifiable, but as soon as they released paid DLC while the base game was still in early access (i.e. Scorched Earth), I realized what kind of company we were dealing with and decided I'd never give them any more of my money. Lo and behold, several years later and things are still the same (if not even worse).

The only good news is ark survival ascended will be free if you have game pass, and the season pass and genesis might be too, so if I can get it for free then sure I will get it. If I need to pay money though then I'll be glad to keep grinding on unofficial

If they do that they're going to have a massive player drop after I left wildcard I don't think they would do this because one reason I say this and this is the reason why I say this when I left there was some shady stuff going on

My Opinions on road map -ASA should have come with all existing dlc packaged with it except the new one their making, then the price would be valid (I personally believe what was said in HOD's video that ue5 was planned to be free but snail changed it) -Official should have at least had a year warning for shut down like official has been rough for a while and fresh would be nice but don't just make everyone's progress worthless -Official at least for old gen should have been given either new servers or be kept around -premium mods i think is a good idea but the split should be more in favour of the mod creator however this isn't the worse split I've seen in gaming -delay of ark 2 sucks but expected, Personally I've learnt to just deal with wildcard never meeting deadlines so if the set a date i think cool if it comes out then but it probably won't. ruins their hype and potential sales of the game but hey thats their loss -everything to do with sotf is wonky, idk why they added it earlier and didn't save it till the asa launch -sabertooth is nice but doesn't make anything better for the reveals -Nice to kinda know where the animated series is up to sort of -qol is nice but like way over due, not grateful of it but finally something was done

as you point out in your first point, people are putting the blame 100% of Wildcard (the actual devs) without actually acknowledging that within the gaming industry it's the publishers (in Ark's case Snail Games) that are usually forcing the devs to either release the game early or do blatantly anti-consumer shit just to get a quicker injection of cash into their wallets and make the investors (a thing I say shouldn't exist let alone have any say in any company they invest in) happy to keep that cash flow coming in

They should just focus on Ark II. Ark Survival Evolved is sub-par, yes, but that doesn't mean they need to overhaul before the entire sequel comes out like geez.

There were certain annoyances about the game like decay of certain items regardless of the time and effort put in the game or lagging issues. But after finding this out, my tames are now free and the game is uninstalled. No point spending time on the game that has no future. It's not the same because ark servers are running 24/7, but when you look at games like Battlefield that have 9 games released since 2008 and still running you would think that Wild Card could keep Ark servers running, restrict new players to certain servers and shut down others as they become inactive.

I play single player so it doesn’t effect me

I don’t even know what’s going on, I’ve just been playing scorched earth in single player and am breeding rexes about to fight a boss for the first time

well im not rebuying ark unless it actually has good improvements, being one of my favorite survival games and all ill keep ark survival evolved to play with siblings but otherwise im not getting that remade version.

It doesn't surprise me how this shit even exist, the whole ark community just likes the dlcs and how broken they are, people don't have rational sense at all

Another game I'll never play again because I refuse to pay any gaming company that runs on greed.

Im excited for it. You get ark 2 and ascended for $50 I havent played Ark in a while but will be excited to get back into it because of the remaster.

The worst thing is that I can’t beat it without my bestfriend because we wanted to do it together,but he can’t be online much because of war. I mean,that’s the stupidest decision they ever made. I can forgive them their Ark 2 delays or price for a remaster of old game on a new engine but shutting down servers :(

How would i do this

If this news is real!! then why is Steam still selling ARK 1 on the website if the servers are shutting down in 5 months?. Are they not even letting the sellers know about this yet?. Are all the sellers going to give money back to the people just buying the game that will be screwed in a couple of months???

The difference being you get the update for free and everything carries over to the new system.

Paying for it I'm fine with as long as its a good bit chanced, but lying is obviously the bad part, paying for DLCs is shitty atleast make it free for the ones who already had it or £10/$10 for all of them. Buying mods is fine too since they said the creators can decide I believe, but there being no Ark 2 gameplay this year is a bad sign sounds like there's no game. Also that sabertooth looks fine what they going to do? Give it spikes too?
