"It's An Awful Feeling" - Titanic Reporter Breaks Down Talking About Missing Submersible

Ойын-сауық

Piers Morgan Uncensored is joined by friend of explorer billionaire Hamish Harding, who is currently missing on the Titanic wreckage tourist submersible, Jannicke Mikkelsen, retired US Navy submarine captain Lieutenant David Marquet and the first journalist to report from the Titanic wreckage Dr. Michael Guillen to discuss the latest on the missing sub and the likelihood of survival for the five people onboard.
Piers asks David about the likelihood of survival and he explains that due to the way the vehicle was constructed and having no communication that there is a slim to no chance of being able to find the vehicle in time.
Michael then becomes emotional whilst describing his personal experience of being down that far in a submersible which was stuck for an extended amount of time and the feeling of being "utterly hopeless". He describes it as an "awful feeling" and sympathises with the people on board and their families for what they must be going through.

The worst thing about dying like this is having time to think about it while being completely helpless, and knowing you paid for this tragedy. God have mercy on them.

Dr. Guillen is clearly suffering from PTSD, yet what a kind and gentle person he is to contribute to this conversation. The fate of the Titanic was avoidable and the lives lost was tragic. Now here with the Titan submersible we have history repeating itself. So sad for the friends and families of those whose lives are lost.

Thank you Dr. For your perspective on what it felt like to be in that situation. It was obviously meant for you to be here. And Thank God for you’re kind, gentleness, and wisdom. Especially when u spoke on the fact( in another interview) that we must remember that “the titanic is more than just a ship wreck, it’s a very sacred place in which men, women and children died”. I’m with you, something’s we shouldn’t mess with. God continue to show us all that when we delve into certain things that we are standing on dangerous grounds. Thank you Dr. I’m glad you’re here with us. Take care!!!

Why would you want to “see it up close”?? What’s to see ? A big rusty piece of metal ? You can’t touch it, you can’t explore it, it’s too deep to really do anything with it. Thats worth your life ? To see it ? Aren’t there documentaries on TV where cameras were sent down and took videos ? Can’t that suffice ? You aren’t going to get much of a better picture than that anyway and you can do it from the safety and comfort of your sofa in your home. So many people perished on the Titanic as it is. It’s hard to fathom why others would purposely risk their lives to go “look” at it.

I have studied about the Titanic since it was found. I was obsessed with it. Have tons of books about it, have a model, collectibles and have been to a few Titanic exhibits. But despite my fascination with the ship, you couldnt pay me enough to dive down to it. And why, for the very reason we are all watching these clips. My fear would always be the submersible becoming trapped on the ocean floor and not able to rise back up and having to sit there and wait to pass away from lack of oxygen. Just thinking of it gives me chillbumps

Iirc is because there’s less surface area for all that weight to work on. Submersibles are also fully speced into exploring and research while subs tend to just use water as cover - think of it like a video game and submarines spec into combat and stealth with the underwater movement perk while submersibles have the same perk but speced into scouting and defense instead You’ll notice the only thing that really goes this deep are small submersibles not the larger military subs and I’m sure it’s for a reason

His aunt describes him as "a totally good kid". To think what his mother, Christine Dawood must be going through just makes my stomach churn. My heart goes out to her. There’s reported banging on the hull indicating it wasn’t total failure. This is both good and terrifying. On the one hand the vessel still contains live passengers. Which indicates that the haul is still intact. Power however could have shut down so it’s hard to say if it’s on or off. Chances are that it’s off given they are likely still submerged. Otherwise it’s thought they’d resurface with all the features in place to help with that. This means there is hope as they are still alive and banging can be heard. If they aren’t too (not past several hundred feet) deep and are somehow located then they should survive! On the other hand which, sadly seems farrr more likely. They are probably on the ocean floor and sealed in an iron coffin. With only probably 24 hours or less of oxygen, it looks bleak. In other words they will probably be slowly suffocated to C02 poisoning right next to the titanic. No power and no communications. No last words and only the cold ocean surrounding them. It’s truly fucked up and arguably a haul breach may have been a less gruesome death. As it would have been an instant death with no pain. Terribly tragic situation considering how easily preventable this all was. Between the poor materials, lack of communication, and inexistent safety approval. As stated in the interview Im genuinely surprised despite them knowing the risks they got in. Im sure the prior expeditions make it seem less scary at that time. But why play russian roulette with an iron ocean coffin? Story so far (and unfortunately likely ends in) a grim tale to serve for future exploration.

Lesson learned for all of us from this interview: no matter how huge of a fan we are, never visit Titanic ever again nor let humans go down there please.. Not only it's a gravesite, but also the more visits to it the more we are contributing to the less number of years the wreck is preserved. The risks, dangers involved with the pressure under those depths and all. It's like signing a death contract when it's not yet your time.. What's $250K when there are more things and time to spend with your loved ones with it without risking yourself and your safety.. The rescue team are also facing danger on such a remote, vast, dark place.. My heart and prayers to the entire team and to the 5 people. 🙏

Should we stop flying? And it's gravesite but how many visit the concentration camps in Germany each year pretty sure they are gravesites but no-one says a word about that and as far as preserving the wreck if you never actually go back there again why would preserving the wreck be anything of meaning? Is that for the fish to see ?
