On this day a young doc( Vandana Das, an internee) in her early twenties was killed by some surgical tool at a government hospital by a an assailant who had been brought to the hospital by the police to be treated for some injury he sustained in some violent fight. The entire province is shocked and discussing this as attacks on doctors, mostly by patients' relatives, have been a daily affair here for some time. Stethoscope sadly failed to serve any purpose. It's a huge embarrassment for this State, otherwise doing well on health indicators, that medics are forced to ply their trade in precarious conditions. Just wanted to let you know that things are not easy everywhere for docs even during peacetime.
