My wife worked in a hotel in 2019 and we ended up taking a suite to live in. Then, CoVid happened. Everything shut down and most of the hotel staff stayed home. In this large hotel, it was myself, my wife, the manager and her husband. They were on second floor, we were in the first on opposite ends. I remember it feeling like the world had ended. We had to drive to a city about 30 miles away once a week and there were no cars on the once bustling highways, nobody in the stores, just the key personnel. I still went places and did things, but felt like i was one of the last people on Earth. When night came the world was a liminal space. Anyone else have fond memories of this time?

going to the store and there was no one there or anything much on the shelves... whatever was left behind was just messily put out of place or in a disarray, and it felt like something post apocalyptic yet eerily peaceful and static

Eu moro no Brasil , Rio de Janeiro , Copacabana . E trabalhei todos os dias da Covid . Eu sou cozinheira profissional, agora me tornei adestradora e Passeadora de cães .

Yeah I used to ride my BMX around the city late at night during lockdown because there was no one around and I was free to muck around on all the edges and concrete, not even an angry copper to fine me for being out. There was nothing. It was the best for riding.

As someone who has read into the families of old who woke up at 4AM for the sake of getting chores done around the house and work on the farm accounted for, not to mention tending to the crops and taking care of the livestock, all of this until bedtime at 7PM without a minute to spare; this is something that has made me feel proud to honor those who went through the blood, sweat and tears just to keep their household operational. Get it? I wake up at 4AM on Wednesdays and Thursdays for work, just to make the most of my working hours in the entire day that I’m awake. Now that’s respect.
