I discovered your youtube channel when I was recovering from minor surgery. You are so elegant, yet very practical. I found my first Waterford small vase the other day at goodwill, thank you for showing us how to check the markings to identify the item. I don't entertain very much, but you make me want to invite others over for a tea luncheon. Love all your ideas on tablescapping. I live in ohio and have been thrifting all my life, my father taught me to look for bargains since we had a large family. Everything you do is worth watching.

Thanks. It was an interesting exchange of thoughts and comments that came of this. The German connection (with me) evoked lots of painful memories for the lady. Will share in the coming days on the community page. I don't want to get too personal about it. Need to think about how to highlight this unique experience.

Thank you for inviting us along with you! The Charity Guild Shop is a long time favorite of mine, and it's been a long time since I've visited. Thank you for posting the pandemic hours. Your advice is always spot on, and your knowledge really enhances the shopping experience. My maternal grandfather came to the U.S. as a child of 9 years old in 1892. I spent so much time with my grandparents and his family growing up, so I have a love of all things Danish and Scandinavian. It was nice to see items, especially the glass piece, from the area. Again, many thanks!

I am shocked at the price of the Kjobenhavn - sometimes called lace and some times called butterfly lace - one tea pot on the secondhand market is usually around 2000.00 dollars. I wept when I saw the price for 20 pieces - it is the one pattern I have wanted my entire life and have never been able to get. I usually focus my efforts on art, but that porcelain is exquisit.

Because I found a beautiful clear crystal basket, medium size & unusual shape, you came to mind. I decided to buy it since it was such a great price: $6.00. Would love to see a video of your various dish patterns...I'm trying to fathom a collection of 28+ 😊, suggestions on how you store them (if you do something special), where you store your collection, frequeny of use. If adding or given the opportunity of specific pieces, which besides dinner and salad plates are a must or wish list pieces? Largest/smallest collection (number of settings), largest number you have entertained using one or mixture of your collections. Are you a "resource" in your family/community for parties/occasions to fill in borrowed serving pieces and if so have you ever worried about breakage or damage? Is the collection utilized for more intimate gatherings with like minded enthusiasts that appreciate your beautiful items and the vast collection more to have varied and splendid settings/venues/themes or just a collection/addition of great pieces at great prices which results in more to work with for different table setting combinations? You have made references several times picking up a treasure for a table you are working on for the channel. Is it just for the channel or then used for impromptu dinner with friends/family? (The final product you film) Sorry for the questions...just found you and such a breathe of fresh air as opposed to the paper product one-use society we have become. Hopefully your channel inspires younger generations to see the true value of a beautifully laid table and revive the use of dishes and silverware. Thank you for your very inspirational content!!!

Pleased to read your message. Thanks for reaching out and following my channel. That is the goal to inspire younger generations to appreciate items they will inherit. Since they are all about recycling, then what is not to love? Would like to showcase my storage at some point. Will give a home and dish tour when we are in Germany this Summer. Had to laugh when you asked if I am a resource for family and friends. That would be an emphatic YES! Seems that I am always setting up their parties and loaning out my collections. Always happy to help beautify their events. Some items I acquire to complete a table to showcase or an upcoming party. I often host a yearly sale in Houston to offer some of these treasures.

That is awesome! I suggest you use Dawn dish soap and soak if possible. Then, use a soft cloth or sponge to clean. Be mindful of the detail if delicate.

It’s interesting hearing that you don’t have upscale charity thrift stores in Australia. Would be a good opportunity for a non-profit to open a shop. Many items are consigned and not only donated. Proceeds go back to the community.

@@LadyMaryBeth We have charity shops but all smalls and the items are not that good compare to American thrift shops. We have antique shops but prices are too expensive, because competitions are not that so great.

Which part of Texas? I could recommend stores in other cities. I grew up thrifting and antique shopping with my parents. There was always a charity resale or church rummage sale. I volunteer in the community and it's my mission to share these stores that benefit great causes. Definitely a win-win!

I am a beginner thrifter. What is the purpose of the list of dates with the prices next to them at the bottom of the sale tag? I thought the price at the top is what you pay. Is Waterford Crystal always marked if the tag doesn't say what it is? If not marked, how does someone with an untrained eye tell the difference between Waterford and another maker?

I know you will enjoy finding bargains! Many charity thrift stores lower the price after each month it sits on the shelf. Refer to today’s date to see if it is automatically reduced. Waterford finds are often marked simply as crystal when they don’t recognize the brand. Look for the acid etch mark and telltale signs. I share some tips in the Waterford segment: kzread.info/dash/bejne/gayp18ymqNWccqQ.html
