I understand what he’s saying I kinda just always felt that you should declare a hand. You have to remember back then bowling with two hands was taboo it was almost looked at like corking a bat in baseball. You just have all this tradition and now someone is allowed to bowl using two hands which provides an unfair advantage and all those guys had spent their entire lives bowling one handed so it’s not like you can say we’ll everyone can use two hands if they want. Yes that’s true they can but it’s kind like the rug was pulled out from underneath all these guys who had some a lifetime mastering one handed bowling then allowing Belmo to waltz’s in there and use two.

Also, it’s amazing how many people still think that both hands are used to rotate the ball and create revs. Every single two hander to ever bowl on the PBA removes the off hand before release, the revs are created with the same two fingers that any one handed bowler uses. Anyone who says both hands are used is admitting that they know nothing about the physics of bowling ball roll..it’d be impossible to impart the same axis tilt and axis rotation with both hands simultaneously.

I don’t think it’s a travesty, just like any other sport, bowling evolves, and here we are. It’s just a more efficient way to bowl, and it’s all around better. They even made reverse block easier if you had ball speed. Pure garbage. Those balls took degrees of power and finesse out of the game.

I’m all for bowling whatever style works, it’s the complaining about the evolution of two handed that’s just incessantly annoying. 😂. Much love and thank you for your kind reply.
String pins are a travesty to the sport, Two handed bowling is just a style thing. You can get the same revs and speed thumb in, you just destroy your arm/shoulder to do it. I mean before the Fosbury flop people just did high jumps on their belly.
I'm so glad someone made this. I understand preferring things how they were when you were younger, and I even like Jason Couch a lot. But that quote was as uninsightful as any I have ever heard about anything on any topic, ever.
A good amount of bowlers are stuck in the past. Two-handed bowling is the future. Oil patterns have gotten longer and harder (that's what she said. 😈), balls have gotten stronger and more reactive, and people are adapting to transitioning conditions better than ever. The old-school ways aren't as effective anymore. Those who won't adapt to change will quit. If you think two handed is unfair/should be banned, then switch.
Basketball players used to shoot free throws with two hands and underhanded. Golf clubs used to be all wooden. Sports equipment and styles are fluid.
If Jason Couch, (a great bowler, by the way), were truly "old school" wouldn't his ball only have two holes, one finger and one thumb? 😊
I love the collective hating and whining when people see somebody rise to the top of a field. Yet to have someone give a good reason on how 2 handed is “cheating” or is “unfair”. Should reactive resin have been banned? No? Then don’t complain about 2 handed
I've been bowling for 4yrs started one handed and injured my forearm so I was watching Kyle Troup and belmo bowling 2handed and said I can try that to distribute some of the weight off my arm so I started working on 2handed and it worked I've been bowling abt 3yrs now 2handed but you release with one hand and am proud to say I bowled a 300 2months ago and I constantly bowl 200's I'm abt 200-220 average bowler thanks Troup and belmo
Couch better go two handed because Belmo kicks his ass 😂
Belmonte's living in the bowler's paradise.
To me bowing two handed was cheating a few a decade ago.. but it helped evolve the sport in a dark time... today I would say it evolved the sport
greatest thing to ever happen to the sport.
I will say, it is much easier to get revs 2 handed, which is why Belmo revolutionized the sport. It gave everyone the opportunity to have more power. I support and am thankful for 2 handed bowling and more importantly Belmo for bringing much needed attention back to the sport. Btw, I’m a one handed and have been for 11 years 😂
Well, the best bowler right now is a one-handed bowler, so it just proves that there is more than one way to be successful.
A strike is a strike. Me and my team will always pick on our two-handed teammate, but hey he out scores all of us so he doesn't care.
Absolutely it's about time someone speaks up it is a travel to the sport and is destroying the sport it's not two handed bowling from 100 years ago it's one headed bowling I don't care how you think you deliver the ball.
Ill never stop using 2 hands
I agree with Mr Couch ! 2 handers are so disrespectfull! ANd also looks absolutely ridiculous!
As a 1 hander Belmo still my favorite bowler. Anyone else?
It doesn't matter how it gets there. Jim Furyk has a goofy ass golf swing, but the club head is delivered to the ball the exact same way as any other player on tour. I have zero issue with it and i'm a 1 handed 3 fingered bowler with a fairly high rev rate. I'm a golf pro that happens to be a good bowler hense the Furyk reference.
At first kind of thought it was sort of cheating, but when I thought about all the variables it adds. It does indeed require some skill and practice to perfect it so.....respect when its deserved. Yes" he deserves it.

If you think about it like dunking in basketball, it definitely should help think differently about it. Sports change and people can figure out how to do things better within the rules.
This man is solid and smooth, at the line, Every time!
He influenced me to get started in bowling and yes, be a 2 handed bowler
He’s simply the greatest to ever do it and no matter how much they try to discredit it you can’t take it away from him

The greatest? Nobody even bowls anymore. My area had 5 bowling centers and we are down to one.. Imagine competing against 1/5th the competition and declaring yourself the greatest at something. I quit when the money became trash.
My Generation's Goat.. What he has done, still doing especially doing it with other professionals trying to call your ability a joke or illegal, etc. We probably won't see another game changer like Belmo for another 10-15 years.
Two hand bowling used to be walking up to the foul line and heaving it down the middle underhanded from between your legs. I guess this is different.
two handers rise up!
I don't care about what they say about him, he's the best (Jason Belmonte) by winning champions in bowling.
I’m not a fan of two handed bowling because I feel they have a speed and rotation advantage which opens up so much more on the lanes. However, I love what it’s done for the sport. I see a lot more kids bowling now than they used to and if it helps save the sport then I’m all for it.
If USBC bans certain bowling balls that it deems giving an unfair advantage, hi purple hammer, 2 hands gives an advantage as well.
Couch could rev it up as much if not more than Tackett. Dude was a beast. I like good bowling...period. Old school or 2 hands. It's all about getting it done
Jason Couch you are wrong this has to be the legend
So funny how they had an issue with it
Why would I want to bowl like you, if Im beating you. - Jason Belmonte
I'm a 1HRH, I remembered when Belmo came on the scene and I thought it would never catch on..... Boy was I surprised when I came back to the sport
man he would really hate it now
I understand what he’s saying I kinda just always felt that you should declare a hand.
Anything that improves your performance in any sport should be embraced as revolutionary, not denigrated because it's "not traditional".
I personally still bowl 1 handed, but seeing the amount of success 2 handers have definitely makes me consider switching because it just makes sense. If you want to roll with the competition, you have to adapt.
The Fosbury Leap of bowling.
If 2 handed was unbeatable, why is there still so many elite one handed bowlers? The guy shouldn't be commentating.
I thought he was talking about Belmo wearing those Google glasses 😂
Everyone complaining has tried two hand but realized they didn’t get better so they decided to complain about two hand bowlers instead 😂
It’s just an easy way to get into bowling and see the ball move because of how much easier it is to get revs as someone who is inexperienced compared to learning and practicing with three fingers
Belmo has also won titles 1 handed. He is just the goat

He is amazing, love him, and he is the GOAT, but your statement is not true. He never won a title (certainly not PBA) one handed.

No. He's not. And he bowls two handed, which is something only little children should do.
Theres technically more than a billion different styles since everyone throws it differently
New ways in sports, is not a travesty it just makes the sport better! Within 2 decades the thumb roll will be extinct. I alredy noticed in Bowling alleys with young people!
You don't have to like the two-handed style, but you cannot deny that it doesn't work.
If you can't beat em join em.

I loved that i learned 2 hand bowling and the second game after practicing it, i hit 205
He can play anywhere on the lane and he is accurate.
