One of my friends made a bowl, it cracked down the side. So they drilled some holes and laced it up like a boot. It looks really cool.

You called it your preferance, Id call it your intregrity. You take pride in your work, as you should. And the fact that the wood moved and caused after-creation cracking makes you want to try to repair the problems. You didnt cause the problem but you want your product to be as perfect as possible! It's good to see some one else has post-production problems. My daughter gets upset with when I pull my items from her store because they no longer meet my expectations and I demand to "fix" it. You did an awesome job on that bowl.

Nice fix. I’ve got a partial bottle of Starbond black. I have to use a small piece of wood and scoop it out. It’s like rubberized fudge. 😂 somehow it still works as filler for knots and cracks.

If you use the tail stock live center (with a small rubber chunk to keep the point from digging into the work), you should be able to run the plate at your typical 1050 RPM's for the Sanding Paste without the piece flying off...

You get the brass balls for hitting 1000and not losing it 😊

I kinda expect it absorbed a bit of moisture and expanded a bit to crack then shrunk back down but the resin kept it from closing back up. Might be because the knot with the wax and large amount of resin as a rim. Combination of things did it.

Recommend you buy a small amount of UV glue and an ultraviolet light to use for repairs. So much easier than CA glue. And you can even buy it in colors, though the clear blends into both wood and resin without any problems. Good of you to do repairs before shipping.

actually I get uv resin from both my sponsors and didn't think about using to to mend the cracks, instead of just filling them

I keep looking at this bowl for it’s beauty and honestly can’t find much. The wood is very plain. Nice job fixing the cracks. Could the wood have been too wet during turning? I enjoy your channel and have been a subscriber for some time. I try to give my honest opinion with no intention of degrading a craftsman.

One of the greatest downfalls to CA glue is the failure of the stuff in storage, minimal use. It's not an inexpensive glue, when it goes off between uses it's downright costly. That failure works in the seller's favor, they are not likely to figure out a self-sealing, oxygen free way to store it.. I don't buy, I find other ways to do the job.
