the black hair dude is the mc of index, the girl is the mc of railgun but in both series they still play important roles it's just that the focus character is different, accelerator has the white hair dude as the mc who's name is literally accelerator. there's another guy with blonde hair who doesn't appear much in the ops but he serves as the secondary mc of index pretty much.

I had never heard of this show but thanks to recommendations in the comments I have found this gem. I gotta add the ones I missed for sure! And my basic ass mind did not see the Human Railgun haha. But best believe I was scouting for an actual Railgun 😂

There's a lot of shots of Academy City because essentially, the city is a character itself.

I'm an unreasonably big fan of this series and youtube appears to know this so here I am hehe Sorely underrated but understandably so considering the anime for index can be kind of a slog to get started with considering how many things are going on in it.

This was fun to watch 😂 Anyway to spare you the mental pain.. the Toaru franchise is split into three seperate series that all take place in the same world and city. With most of the events over the franchise happening during the same timeframe. There's A Certain Magical Index, A Certain Scientific Railgun and A Certain Scientific Accelerator. The franchise takes place in the fictional setting Academy City, in modern day Japan. INDEX "A Certain Magical Index" is the main storyline with Touma Kamijou, (spiky black hair boy) a Level 0 esper as the protagonist. He is considered the weakest of the weakest in the city's esper rankings. He possesses Imagine Breaker, a strange phenomenon he's had since birth. Anything supernatural that comes into contact with his right hand will be negated. This is the reason for why the openings of Index have alot of shots focusing on his right hand. Magical Index is set in Academy City, the city of science where students develop psychic esper powers through medication and science experimentations. When Touma meets Index, (the young silver hair nun in white robes) he learns she is a part of a religious magical organization based in Europe and quickly finds himself in a massive world scale power struggle between science and magic. The magic side is made up of the many different churches and occult organizations around the world. Academy City, said to be 30 years scientifically advanced ahead of the rest of the modern world, is practically the face of the world of science. RAILGUN "A Certain Scientific Railgun" is a spin off side series focused on Mikoto Misaka, (short brown hair girl with the coin) a Level 5 esper with the ability to control electricity, as the protagonist. Its more a slice of life/sci-fi thriller series where Misaka and her group of friends often get mixed up in the seedy underground shenanigans of the city. With Magical Index being the main story centred around the massive world scale conflict of magic vs science, Railgun is more small scaled and focused on the more contained conflicts of the innercity. ACCELERATOR "A Certain Scientific Accelerator" is another side story centred around Accelerator (white hair boy), the first ranked Level 5 esper. Level 5 is the highest level, so he pretty much is ranked the strongest. He has the ability to transform and manipulate the vectors of anything he touches. Meaning he can practically control the direction and magnitude of anything he comes into contact with. All three protagonists make small appearances in each other's series. But Misaka and Accelerator, aside from being the protagonists in their own series.. are also important main characters in Index.

the SWAT are Antiskill, a sort of police force composed of mostly teachers with special training to deal with out of control espers and other situations. Although in the case of some of the more powerful espers, it's not enough. Most of the magic has its roots in religious traditions, so magic with different origins will often use symbols from those religion. If you like Energy beams you'll probably like Mugino Shizuri's power. lol. Mugino herself... well, has a bit of an arc for character development.

@@MrRapidCainM8 A real railgun is big as a cannon, some big warships have that kind of weapon but it's more a weapon fixed to the ground, not really a handgun. In the anime Misaka Mikoto is known as the Railgun thanks to her ability to control electromagnetic fields, she can accelerate an arcade coin (and not only that) with it. This is a great anime, you should try it out.

​@@MrRapidCainM8 I can confidently say that Index, or Toaru, literally peak fiction, it is the most well written world, power system and lore to ever exists (literally, Nen, Chakra and other stuff, or the world of One Piece isn't beating Index, Index is at Marvel level but with better writing), and the MC is debatably the best in all of anime, or even fiction, of course only if you read the light novel cause he aint beating Guts-level writing until nearly half way through the Light Novel, which the anime hasn't adapted, and anime butchered all of his character development anyways. If you don't feel like reading the Light Novel, don't worry, there is a manga, though 2 best starter Arc, vol 2 and 4, which is the same to the anime, were butchered, in manga case they had been completely removed, sad but the rest are faithful to the light novel. Why reading the manga you ask? The anime while still good, and probably the best thing for anime fan to get into the series, it is bad, like really bad, it's like comparing Beserk 2016 anime to the Beserk manga, though not as bad because it's still interesting, and kinda peak apparently, 100% must watch. Conclusion for you, anime is for starter, it is really bad compare to LN, it's been 5 years since the last disastrous season, but it's the best thing to start with. Manga is the next thing, the closest you will ever get to the Light Novel, it's peak, but it's a monthly manga, and as I stated, it's missing 2 best arcs. Light Novel: Apparently, it's peak fiction, and it got the top 1 selling for years, with no anime boosting it's sales (cause the anime ain't even doing that good, people only interest in Railgun which is the highly popular one). And finally, the magic stuff is really confusing, cause it's make sense only to people who understands it, well think of it as you learning Advanced physics. The series is long, but every volume is peak so no worries. Also, the light novel is not cheap, though you can always buy the big bible one that have every arcs in the anime, or just read an online translated file, seriously, the english version will make you a broke man. Guide section: Anime guide: Index 1, then Railgun 1, Index 2, Railgun 2, Index Movie, Index 3, Railgun 3, and the Accelerator one Manga: we have Index, we have a certain scientific dark matter, the Accelerator manga (never touch it, it's bad), The railgun manga, the Astral buddy manga, the Mental out manga, and the Item manga, apparently, they released a lot more spinoffs titles, the last 3 are quite new ones. Also a lot more non canon ones, but those are just 4 koma stuff, or real fans of the series, the best one is the Accelerator Idol manga. Light novel: we have 3 parts, Old Testament (OT) then New Testament (NT) and the ongoing Genesis Testament (GT), with side stories called (SS), apparently there are 2 of these in each part, you can always find a "how to read Toaru" guide by simply searching it on youtube. Hope this all help you to have a slight gasp of what you're getting into, it's a big series, but it's getting into the interesting stuff every time, you won't get bored and there's no fillers, enjoy.

If you ever get into the series of index i really encourage you to read the novel NT9 as its the peak of toaru (so far). But the series is so goated and differenet from anything youve ever seen or read.

Hello, did someone say A Certain Series Project? This franchise is literally my life. I think this series is legitimately peak literature. The anime is pretty okay but the original novels are just amazing (okay a few of them are bad). I do hope you check this out. The watch order i recommend is simply the release order: Index > Railgun > Index II > Railgun S > Index III > Accelerator > Railgun T

He barely appears in any of these openings because he's underappreciated by marketing. That, and he gets way more screentime and things to do in the sequel series, A Certain Magical Index: New Testament! I'm really glad to have found this now; the Fandom is in sort of a fever pitch right now. The 56th mainline novel (the 9th volume of A Certain Magical Index: Genesis Testament, the third series) just came out in Japan and it's set to be HUGE! Over here in America, we finally just got the 25th mainline novel (the 1st volume of A Certain Magical Index: New Testament) in English, which the fandom was unsure we'd ever get. The franchise will be celebrating its 20th anniversary in April and we're all hoping for the announcement of an anime adaptation of New Testament. We've waited so long... If you check this series out, count me in to check in every single upload! I'm desperate for A Certain Series Project reactors. And it might be just in time for the New Testament anime, should that ever happen.
