It is so great to see all those supportive messages from individuals and also major corporations. People finally need to realize that it really is a Human Rights Issue. I can relate to Tim a lot. I always thought it would just go away and I was so upset when I started bringing myself to the realization of it but when I came out it was the greatest weight lifted from my shoulders and I am 100x happier now.

Hated myself, too for being gay. Catholic upbringing made me fear my futures. Got married, had three daughters. Got divorced. Accepted myself. Afraid of loosing all of my family and friends...I never had a problem! What was I so afraid of???? Who cares what others think of you! You have more people who love you and don't care that you love the opposite sex! All people want for you is to be loved and share love!

Except in emergencies, I let that loving gentle parental attitude inform every word I speak to my dogs. :)

My family disowned me and they are the religious type, but just like you Timothy, I grew up very involved in the church and when I came out it shocked many people and they said I was never a Christian and never can be because of my sin...can you help me with that? What is your stand? Do you consider yourself a christian still?

If you do some research, you will find that there are gay (& gay-friendly) areas surrounding the big cities in Alabama (e.g. Mobile, Birmingham, Montgomery). There is also plenty of support available via internet.

@imjere - So sorry to hear that a family (unfortunately and presumably your own) uses such hateful and bigoted language. My family definitely called things "SO GAY," but I have confidence the words were used in complete ignorance. Tim was forced to wait until he had worked long enough to be financially independent from his family before he told them he was gay. This way if they lashed out, he could just say peace-out. I fear that this may be the best recourse for someone in your position.

Well just live your life openly, now you know for sure you don't actually need to carry this weight of coming out to your parents, if they don't love you for who you are then who will? do they really deserve you? well that's only if they loved you! real parents loves their children no matter what! I say it again NO MATTER WHAT!!!!! But please don't end your life just because your mum is in denial, just keep on living your life, enjoy it while it lasts!!!! hope this helped!

Great video but it doesnt get better for everyone. I came out when I was 19 ,Im forty now and pretty much wish id just kept it to myself. I was happier and had more friends before. In my exsperience meeting other gay people their rude ,crass, hatefull backstabbing people. Ive not been able to rely on many Ive met and have no friends now that I had when I came out. I wanted to be true to myself and the people in my life that id meet along the way, thinking my life would be easier, open and real.

i think everyone knew that i'm gay ,.. its awkward to remind them that i'm gay.... heheheheheeh!! i dont need to come out, they already open the door for me.....

And if there's anyone that openly confronts you about bein gay, don't even say nothin to em. I know that's easier said than done, cuz hell even i have a short fuse, but do your best. And most of all: keep God on your side. I don't wanna preach to you, but remember, he loves ALL of his people, us too.

It breaks my heart that people want to kill themselves because they are gay, in the old days gay meant happy and I still think it means happy . I love gay people and I love gay men. they get the end of it, most people say well its ok for two women to be together but not men, I think that if more people of the same sex had sex there would be at least a lot more Bi people.
