tbh Im bi and usually catch onto things like that but in the books I though of them more like a brotherly bond so I wasn't expecting but I did really like the movie version. Ive now started to reread it and already I see how many things I missed as I think the context of the the original miniseries where they weren't gay made me just brush these moment off, like the amount of times already Richie has been called a fag was way more than I remember. I think I felt this was more to do with Henrys ignorance as opposed to bowers himself as they all for the most part get called it one point or another

I'm so thankful for the way Bill portrayed Richie + his sexuality. He was so honest and informed about it and I was able to see myself in his character a bit. I always get a bit nervous whenever a straight person plays a gay character but he definitely did Richie justice. I hope somewhere off-screen he got the happy ending he deserved.

I found it amazing that Stephen King said he liked his character of Richie interpreted that way. For an author to do that for a movie adaptation is pretty magical. All the people working in the movie, on scene or behind the scenes, should be proud to pull it off in such a subtle but obvious way that fits 100% with the story of IT itself that made the book’s author praise it. Wonderful acting and writing

After reading the book, I always thought that Richie liked Eddie more than he was willing to admit. The signs were always there and I'm glad they made it reality.

"We shot that scene outside of Hamilton, Ontario" Hi, Hamilton native here, the quarry they filmed It (both movies) at was Elora Quarry, and it's honestly quite far from Hamilton, so I'm assuming Bill slept in the car on the way there. Nonetheless the quarry is a beloved place by the community (until the creepy clown showed up and started eating our children)

An actors contract is based on so much amount of months on the set filming and then they may have x amount of months off but then they are contracted to do x amount of promotion and x amount of press. They know they have to answer the same questions over and over again but it’s what they are contracted for. They cant get out of their contract unless they want to forefit the money

Finn and Bill are so hot despite going against every norm of what Hollywood is about. Like neither of them have “generic Hollywood hot guy” look, but give off that vibe that you just HAVE to like them. Jack Grazer is also leaning that way.

i don't really think Pennywise is homophobic, he kinda lacks any moral bias. He uses Richie's internalized homophobia to attack him because it works, but he just wants to eat. He'd use anything to hurt the losers regardless of moral.

I was wondering what Ritchie’s secret was walking out. I thought it was initially that he had feelings for Eddie but I wasn’t 100%. So glad I watched this cause it makes more sense now. It’s a nice change in making Ritchie, a character who hides behind the laughter, a closeted gay man

Bill can match and mirror nearly anyone’s energy and pace. If you watch interviews, he matches the interviewers pace and energy so well, he naturally creates report with people and why he has so much charisma.

Give Bill a damned break, he’s answered this shit a million times. He’s even said it himself that he gets really bored over answering the same question again and again on press.

OK, as someone who hasn't read the book I want to ask all the people who say neither RIchie nor Eddie were gay a question. Why has this debate about them been going on since the book was first published. This is a quote from a reddit message board "To be clear: As a (gay) kid reading It decades ago, Richie and Eddie's relationship always read as gay to me. The intimacy was clear and they were very touchy-feely. Kids that age didn't always do that in my era. It registered. Did I think they were making out in the Barrens, no. But it read as a 'gay' thing just the same." I notice that no one questions the heterosexuality of any of the other characters. It's always Richie and Eddie. Where there's smoke there's fire. Stephen King said the gay bashing in Bangor Maine was heavy in his mind and heart when he wrote the original novel so he likely added a positive gay subtext to these two characters and and didn't even realize it. All the other depictions of gayness in the novel are negative. The gay bashing and Henry Bowers blowjob from his friend.

Love him and loved this interview! Loved hearing him talk about Richie's sexuality. He's an amazing actor and person and this interviewer is great as well!

It's fun sometimes trying to figure out which questions an actor gets excited about because they haven't been asked them before.

Bill’s performance is honestly so mesmerizing. He really brings Richie to life, and also incorporates the traits that Finn possesses as he plays a young Richie. In my opinion Bill made Chapter Two. The emotion he put into every scene was insane, truly made me feel like the character was real.

I love how Bill Hader has been accepting Richie’s sexuality but NOT FETISHIZING IT! He’s done such an amazing job representing sexuality that isn’t acknowledged or approved of in a way that’s kind and friendly. True ally.

One of the best interviews. Great questions, I loved it!

I really loved this interview. It covers a lot of plot points for IT that viewers want to know but also asks real questions about Bill's other projects. It's just mad respectful towards the actor to acknowledge them as a person rather than just a character
