It Begins… Chinese Migrants are Entering America

When most Americans think of immigration, China is not the first country that comes to mind... but that may soon change.

Chinese immigrants even illegal ones do actually contribute to the economic growth of the US. Most actually work , refuses to take hand outs and the 2nd generation chinese go on to become professionals like doctors to at a bare minimum a white collared job. While a much bigger percentage of the other immigrants (generation after generation) join gangs, commit crimes and bring in drugs to destroy the US. Simple question, Would you live rather live with a chinese neighbour or live in the hood.

Slow down on spliffing the 420; your veering towards passive aggressive selective racism; Already 2.8 million illegal migrants are within our US borders. The population of China is only at 1.4 billion only; where you got 2 billion when this number doesn't even appear on any statistics pertaining to this subject......really proves you need to take breaks from that 420 from time to time; I would recommend 1 month break for every month you spliff ^w^

Don’t let people shame you with the whole “America is a land of immigrants” nonsense. First of all, not all Americans were immigrants. The Native Americans certainly weren’t, and you could make an argument for the black Americans as well. Also, it’s more accurate to say “we are a land of legal immigrants!” Politicians and media folks trying to make you feel that you shouldn’t care who enters your country, by doing a false comparison to your grandparents, who came legally, should be told to go to hell. Also, practices and policies that may have worked and been the right thing to do in 1888, may not be practical in 2024! We are not a nation sparsely populated, with millions of acres of undeveloped, fertile land! we are a nation of 330 million, and the third largest on earth! Are we trying to look like China in India? Do we want cities so crowded and congested, they’re damn near unlivable? We have enough people already! We need to calm down and focus on the citizens that are already here, which seems like it’s an impossibility for our government to do as it is. We don’t need to import more problems!

Hey from an expat in Shanghai, China! 2020 closures weren’t bad. After 3 months everything inside the country was almost back to normal, almost. We were able to domestically travel but international travel and especially coming back to China was the real deal so many people couldn’t visit their families for three years like myself. But fast forward in 2022, things took a turn and Shanghai had a massive city closure with 25 million people got back in their homes and we weren’t allowed to go outside - other than testing - for almost 3 months and for some 4 months and even after that here and there closures that made everything in business super hard to run. We had an expat exodus - people literally leaving their stuff behind and leaving for good. Towards the end of 2022 people started to voice their concerns by gathering outside which is extremely rare - in 10 years I’ve been in China - nothing like this happened, nothing. And after these protests, magically the zero covid policy ended and the whole city, we got sick all at the same time so we got back in our houses again. In 2023 borders opened and most expats including myself, were able to see our families by traveling internationally for the first time in three years. Right now many people in China are in saving mode, not spending a penny on nothing necessary other than sports and health related stuff. I love Shanghai and I have amazing Chinese friends but 2022 was really hard as an expat. I saw so many of my dear friends suffered alongside me, had their businesses shut down due to not being able to operate under such uncertainty. It was hard times and still people being cautious of their spending.

As a Chinese person who had worked in Shanghai and left China in the end of 2022 shortly after the massive lock down, I just want to say thank you for sharing your genuine experience in China here. I believe many Chinese people who left China were shocked and broken-hearted by their countries' reality which went straight down the hill, not only economically but also politically, as the dictator in China right now had exploited the massive lockdown as a way for himself to secure his power and get re-elected as the president when he was supposed to end the term of his presidency and step down, which has led to a series of economic downturn bcz the international capital just lost faith in China's market environment in such a political system, which caused people's life going down the hill too cuz they can't earn money and meanwhile they're forbidded to talk, they don't see a future with the country where they grow up in anymore, including myself. I guess that's the true reason why so many Chinese people left.

Japan has a population inversion problem. Similar to Italy, you can buy a sizeable house on several acres for less than $30K if you don't mind driving 5 miles to the nearest 7-11. Property is extremely affordable even in Tokyo. FX rate is excellent. I recently returned and loaded up on electronic gear for >35% off (lower than sale prices here). As to whether those immigrants will integrate into Japanese society is a completely different matter.

Some cities in China are actually better than NYC in many ways. I visited NYC after living in Zhuhai for a few years and it was quite funny to realize NYC is below the level of Zhuhai and Guangzhou. The subway and JFK airport are trash compared to what you see in Guangzhou. Theft is an issue in Zhuhai (which attracts poor migrants from other cities), but violent crime is low. Xi Jinping is harsh, but he is better than Biden and cares more about his country. Xi Jinping is actually very popular in China and when you ask students for examples of great leaders, Xi Jinping's name comes up. Not many Americans would say 'Biden' to that question.

Even the Manager was Chinese and a nice guy too. I loved them all. Their parents jump into the shark filled waters in San Fran to get here. They own a ton of things there. They do take care of each other and ask nothing even back then.

Adversary, not enemy, at least not yet. Besides, the Chinese are not the only ones. Russians, Pakistanis, Iaqians, Yemenis, lebanonian etc. The list goes on. They are also allies of the PRC. These people are also among the illegal immigrants. Don't forget that we actually have a lot of enemies in the world so....yea.. we probably can't sleep well at night if we consider everyone as enemies.

The acceptance of these "talents" by the United States is in fact very much in the interests of both China and the United States, and I do not think it is necessary for the United States Government to repatriate these "talents" back to China.

Appreciate your multiple perspective view as always. I don't think Chinese government is behind this. It's the easiest worse case fear driven angle to express. Makes sense coming from mainstream news.

I'm not opposed to legal immigration. Illegal immigration is not right. However, in regards to the Chinese migrants, at least most of them are well-educated and here to work and importantly are non-violent and not stealing and destroying things. Most of them are also not on assistance, they rely on one another. They don't want to be around the other dangerous migrants. If anyone thinks that any of these people are spying, give me a break. If anyone is spying, they would enter on tourist or student visas.

Cash, there is a certain network that calls itself “fair and balanced”. THIS was fair and balanced. You’re an excellent journalist, and realtor. Cash Jordan should be a household name. Keep up the sterling work. You’ll be famous one day. Cronkite. Murrow. Woodward. Walters. Amanpour. Cooper. Some day, Jordan. I hope I live to see the day.
