It Always Starts With An Inspection | 71 GMC Jimmy
Ойын-сауық
Join Dan and the FantomWorks team in this webisode as they welcome a '71 GMC Jimmy to their shop. This video takes you behind the scenes, providing an in-depth look at the inspection process. Watch as Dan, Chris, Audrey, and the owner go through the truck, determining the initial list of challenges that require attention. They also look at the owner's wish list, which includes safety, steering, EMP shielding, and more.
As Audrey asks, "Is there anything that's not leaking? That may be a shorter list." The humor reflects the candid and straightforward approach the team takes in identifying the issues plaguing this classic truck.
Discover the true-to-life moments that unfold as the FantomWorks experts assess the condition of the '71 GMC Jimmy, setting the stage for an epic restoration journey. If you're a fan of classic cars, automotive restoration, or simply enjoy an honest and humorous take on the challenges of refurbishing vintage vehicles, this webisode is a must-watch.
We'll release a new webisode on the journey every week on Mondays!

Love to see a real restoration show. Also the shop tour is pretty cool. I went on a tour prob 10 years ago and they had the coolest German Shepard shop dog

Thanks, you too!
I always expect many issues with an older car than just prettying it up. I guess it helps that my uncle owned a Buick Oldsmobile dealer in the 60's - 90's. I can remember looking at customer cars as they came in for service. There was always the easy problem, hard fix issues like "have you changed your oil in the 35,000 miles you have put on this car? Customer looks like "uh". The customers who come in thinking the worst are usually never surprised. :) I like the way things are done with Dan and crew. If the project cannot be done right to put a safe car back on the road financially, dont start the project. There is just no room for "half@$$ing" when it comes to a vehicle. Cool video. Hope that guys Jimmy can be repaired to where he wants it to be.
Glad to see the shift back to what we all loved with the tv series. More detail of the problems, the repairs and work that goes into it. That I will watch. The sporadic stuff up till now was not very appealing.

We made a decision a few weeks ago to start releasing the full car stories, on KZread in this format, we've been filming. We've got a cue now built up for quite awhile! Thanks for being here.
I can't wait to see what the owner says after you tell him about all the stuff that really is wrong. I'm hoping he decides to re do it all but only better than new
Looking forward to more content Dan...!

Hey HERO!
I wish my blazer was that clean to start with, it folded when i finally got the driver's door to open. The rocker boxes were completely gone 😅
nice job!
Looking forward to seeing EMP work wondering if a DIYer can do it
Oh this one's going to be good. Owner better hang on, it's going to get much worse before it gets better
It's not surprising to me that many of us ve3hicle owners , new or old, don't know the reality of the mechanics and electronics of our cars. Who would have thought and electronic position sensor would control our steering?
When I heard EMP wow (prepper) with all thats wrong with that truck he worries about an EMP threat will never happen
The way EMP's work is inductance through a conductive wire. Its commonly known that a nuclear bomb can generate one, but the only thing that EMP could permanently damage is transmission lines over long distances, thats why its so destructive to our infrastructure. A vehicle however, doesnt have enough wiring to generate a charge that could damage the vehicle. The worst that could happen is in a modern car, the ECU could flip a bit and just needs the battery unplugged to reset.
Your X Ray Vision is pretty much as bad as everyone elses, you just have to open it up to actually see what ya got. Great video.
are you guys still making videos? i hope
Is there anything not leaking?
The mechanical issues were obvious.
this poor truck was abused badly,i drove a 72 for 19 years with whatever maintenence needed,1 engine 1 trans,all new brakes,1 radiator,some starters,water pumps,regular stuff for this era gmc
It’s a GMC/Chevy. This year was famous for rusty bodies.
@Fantomworks
8 ай бұрын
Yes, that's part of why the FantomWorks team was impressed with the metal condition of the body.
EMP won't kill my points fired 65 Dart 273 GT
Would be cheaper to find a west coast body for that truck
@Fantomworks
8 ай бұрын
The body is actually in decent condition... it's other things we uncover down the road... you'll see in episodes to come!
EMP shielded vehicle means you are the first person shot and your vehicle stolen.
I owned several in my lifetime and each one of them was a lipstick pig in one fashion or the other, Steering were horrible, Lousy structurally w/o the roof being bolted on, Safety went right out the window on those yrs from the factory and all leaked like a stuffed pig 🐷
