💯 Right... There are some rare albums that don't have a bad song. Breakfast in America. Floyd and dark side. Fleetwood Mac rumours and to be fair tango too.. I would even go as far as songs from the big chair by tears for fears.. There's a few out there..

I am a hard-core rocker through and through. Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Van Halen and ZZ Top are my favorites. However, although 1984, eliminator, Back in black and Led Zeppelin four are my favorite albums of all time, surprisingly breakfast in America is in my top 10 along with Hall & Oates as my guilty pleasure. You like what you like I guess. #SorryNotSorry🤷🏼‍♂️

They started as progressive rock, at this point in their career and this song, it's more pop rock. With lots of extras, like the horns & whistles. Crime of the Century is a "desert island" album, one of those with no bad songs. Listen to it in order, starting with School, followed by Bloody Well Right, and the rest. (Yes, Roger really did NOT appreciate being sent away to school.)

@@christinerobinson9372 People think of "Crime of the Century" as their first album, and it was their first BIG album, with their "classic" band lineup, but they had two prior. A self-titled one, and Indelibly Stamped. "Crime" is a perfect gem; the prior two have some good songs but are a bit uneven. I discovered them as a wee teen, when my sister & her hubs went to see Pink Floyd, and Supertramp was their opening act. I recommend listening to them the way we did, back in the day; the entire first side, a pause, then the second side. Sooo good with headphones.

Not that this wasn't a good live performance. But one of the things with Supertramp, and especially that album Breakfast In America, is the production on the songs is really really good. And there's a lot of little things with this song that they didn't recreate live. In general, if you haven't heard a song before by an artist or band, you should always do the album version first. Unless most people tell you that the live version is the way to go, the studio version should really be your first listen to get a feel for the song and the band.

It should be listened to front to back, much like most Pink Floyd and Zeppelin albums. If you don't agree with me then that might be the crime of the century. Asia and BJ, you guys are all right. I remember being a kid in the late 90s digging through my dad's old records. Man, he had boxes and boxes and boxes stacked 6' high of records. Half the damn basement was records. I'd dig through them and pick out whatever album cover called to me. Stumbling across Supertramp was a life-altering discovery. Supertramp and CSNY. Those two (and all the iterations of CSNY of course) were my life's soundtrack.

You picked a great song to start your experience with this superlative band from the 70's.👍 As a young 🎷 player John Helliwell was a huge influence on me. Especially when I saw this tour in Toronto when I was 14!

My GOD I am getting old. I remember when this song first dropped back in the 70’s. I was a kid, but I remember hearing and thinking “what the hell is this!?” and immediately after that thinking “I must hear more!”

Supertramp without a sax is like Jethro Tull without a flue or without T-Pane without autotune. And they really do live for the breakdown. This is their version of "Another Brick in the Wall."

Supertramp...... I have had the extreme pleasure of seeing “The Tramp” LIVE 4 times. They are musical geniuses on every song they do. Rick Davies - Favorite Piano Player…. John Helliwell - Favorite Sax Player

I wonder if the lack of knowledge amongst American reactors is down to the way their radio stations operate. As a Brit, we used to have a main pop station, and others doing bits of evergreens, cookery chat etc, plus of course offshore 'pirate' radio. That meant we heard current hits frequently but also some older stuff mixed in now and then, so almost everyone grew up having heard the names of artists from 1950's onwards plus their biggest hits

You may have heard the studio version of this song before, or pieces of it. It was released in the 70's and has gotten lots of radio airplay and may have been used in movies since then.

When Breakfast in America first hit the air I was in high-school on a class three-day trip and remembered purchasing this ( in tapecassett form then ) from a town we'd stopped for a quick break and remember trying real hard not to bounce off the seat.was a definite moment for me .dang I wish Bluetooth was around then.
