I remember us in the 1980s going to Carlisle midweek on the train. Rushton stopped the players giving us their shirts it was the last game of the season. We only used to take 50/70 Barnsley, etc etc in the second division then, Malcolm Webster in goal, Floyd Streete, Steve Fallon, Chris Turner land of the giants.

I remember trying to get the bus home on this day and being stuck in traffic for ages

When I was young I lived 10 miles from Lincoln and used to watch them and can remember the first game of Cambridges debut in the Football League was at home to Lincoln ,the Police stopped coaches containing Lincoln hooligans outside Cambridge before the game and loads of weapons were found and people arrested ,Lincoln fans said they wanted to give Cambridge a proper welcome to the Football League .🤔😳
