This reminds me of my time in the Ulpan at Ashdot Ya'acov Meuchad in '73 - 74... The Young people would just break out in dance in the evenings - at the library outside etc... Israel is forever - It is the beginning and the End - NO ONE WILL EVER CONQUER HER OR DESTROY HER !!! Thank you for posting this video - It makes me want to make Aliyah !!!

Also, for example, the dance that is recognised as the first Israeli dance (Hora Agadati) was coregraphed by a guy named Baruch Agadati, orginated from Romania. So once again, nobody says Israeli dancing doesn't have a lot of influences, but exactly this big mixt is making it special.

Dear Alinutza24, It might be surprisng for you, but I'm romanian jew and i posted this. I totally agree with you that the israeli hora was developed from the Romanian one by the Romanian immigrants in Israel. But this was never doubted or denied. At all our israeli dance classes ,seminars adn harkadot, when it comes to the history of the Israeli dancing, always there is somebody to say that the hora comes from the Romanian one. So no worries!:)

This group does a fine Horah! Love the performance, and effort put into learning this particular choreography. The Horah's BASIC movements are always the foundation, but what an audience sees depends on how large a crowd does the dance! Of course, the whole point of the Horah is not to wow an audience, but get an entire group involved in a uniting activity!

Because it was a performance made on spot with dancers from all over the world and not a pre organised group, we didn't have really stage costumes. It was only that the girls wore all black (t-shirt and pants) and the boys (or those playing the boys role) had the t-shir white. But i still think it looked nice especially when we are separated by girls and "boys". I hope that helps. Where are you having the performance? did you learn it from Barry directly?

And the HORA dance is coming from...ROMANIA! i mean the Jewish immigrants from Ro that reached Eretz Israel put their mark to the dances. And nobody hides it. But it got developed in Israel in ways that leave the basic Romanian hora, given the steps from other cultures.

ok, i feel the need to interfene in the conversationg going on. Mamaligas, i am from Romania so i should know about this Hora, right? and i can tell you that most of the Israeli dances have been done with INFLUENCES from other cultures. because Israel was made by jews coming from all over the world that brought with them the culture of the country they lived in. so it is totally normal to see INFLUENCES from everywhere.

@ZamolxesWolf But Jewish Hora is completely different from Romanian in steps and by the way it sounds. Jewish Hora has more of a Middle Eastern and European mix, while Romanian is pure European.
