seven years ago, i couldn't even imagine that i would do a lyric video about my favourite song and that it would achieve such popularity. through Israel's simple, yet incredibly powerful lyrics, his humbleness, kindness and sweetness serve as a token, an inspiration and a treasure for all of us. i hope you all have a wonderful day, thank you very much for the 10m views

When my daughter was born. I used to play this song almost every single night while I danced with her in my arms. Now she’s 12 years old and really doesn’t have time for me. I got a lump in my throat just now listening to this song and remembering how little she was. Our time with our kids is short.. cherish every second of it before it’s gone.

As a teenager, it's really weird to think how distant we can get to our parents, family and peers. It's crazy how sometimes the people we used to run to whenever we got hurt, our first loves, can become nothing but trouble. If you have a good relationship with your daughter, and you sound like you do, you're lucky enough. I know it can still be sad that someone you love more than yourself doesn't have time for you, but that's just how it goes. It's better to be happy for what you have than unhappy for what you don't have. Wish you and your daughter the best : )

They played this at my dad's funeral 5 years ago. I was 13 at the time, so I was handling it quite poorly. At that time I disliked that they claimed it as my dad's favorite song because it wasn't his favorite song. His favorite song was Let It Be by The Beatles. Now that I'm a little older, I understand why they chose to play this song. It fits his personality. He was a man who struggled badly and lost a lot.. but he always hoped for a brighter future. Now he's somewhere over the rainbow, and all his problems are behind him. May he rest in peace.

Oscar, if you have tears running down your cheeks listening to this, then I think that you are a good person, because only a person that cares about others, feels it in their heart. One other thing, keep pushing yourself forward, and if you get knocked down, pick yourself up, and brush off the dirt and keep going. You can do anything you want, and knowing that there are young people like you, gives me comfort in our future.

The studio owner, Milan Bertosa said, “And in walks the largest human being I had seen in my life.” A security guard gave the 500-pound man a large steel chair to sit on. There once was a young girl in the midst of second grade. The girl suffered through neglect and starvation. One fateful day, a terrible injury happened, blood dribbling out of her skull. Her second grade teacher, who knew her student who helped her with organizing and putting every item up and away in its correct spot in her classroom was endangered. She decided to help take care of her for a month until she was feeling better. Every car ride this same song played, as well as the original played. The cotton candy lollipops, the smiles shared, the evening foot soaks, every day spent with each other spent in happiness and peace. Everytime this song played the girl hula danced. A smile shared across the room, turning into a blossom of laughter and a passionate inspiration to be kind and help others in need lasted for life This is my story

Her parents put this song on our last goodbye with her… we just spoke the day before. Life is so sad sometimes. Maybe our loved ones are somewhere happy. I hope she’s flying gracefully where ever she is my god I still miss her

I've never heard this song until today. It's truly a master piece this man had some great potential and very great talent. There's not to many people out there that have a voice like his it was truly one of a kind. It's hard to think that he had to go so young. But this song is truly touching to the heart to me and I know he's still listening somewhere over the rainbow.

When me and my mom listen to this song, she always tells me the story of how when she was a kid she always wanted to chase the rainbow just to see what was on the other side of it, and she always breaks my heart when at the end of the story she tells me that when she die, she will finally see what is on the end of the rainbow. So now I can't hear this song without crying...

I've been listening to this song regularly for years, and everytime my heart is filled with pure love and kindness, and I feel better after. The cute part is that my bf also listened to this song before we met, so it's a little bit of "our" song (that's why our relationship is so soft maybe)

I remember when I was in nursery, my class and I had to sing this song to the whole entire school - even though none of us even knew the lyrics , so we just danced even though we weren't supposed to. But when my year 6 chapter was coming to the end.. On the last day we sang this song to this school, with the projector behind us playing that one time we sang that song when we were 7-8 years younger. Looking at the projector during our rehearsals made me realise that so many people had left and there were a lot more new students anyways- Our nursery teachers and our teachers who were previously teaching us were literally crying and so was everybody else in my year group. That was 5 years ago, now I have just finished my GCSES and I'm waiting for my results to come back.. Listening to this brings back so many nostalgic memories. Thank you for this song Israel Kamakawiwo'ole..

Very few will see this so I’m just gonna pour my heart out about this song. This song has such a level of comfort that I cannot find anywhere else. From the soft voice to the catchy and ukulele tune. I wish I was old enough to be around while he was so I could have gone to a concert of his. This song has partially given me the ability of accepting the loss of loved ones by helping me believe that they’re really happy where they are now. From losing my best friend from being struck by a train down to the loss of my pet, this man made it so much easier to heal from the grief and mourning that has happened in the past. Thank you for what you have given us, Israel 🙏🏼

My teacher played Louis Armstrong's Somewhere Over the Rainbow for the exit music for our first grade play. We all loved it and were touched by it even as children. A year later, they played it at my grandpa's funeral. It was the perfect song to summarize his love for life and people. My dad and I danced to Israel's version at my wedding. I can't listen to either version without crying.

There is so much soul in this song. Evertime when I listened to this after a long gap in time, It got me in tears. There is something about the song which is breaks our hearts that the world could have been much better than this if we only learned how to love everyone without reservations another vibe that I got from the song is that it is telling us that all the troubles we face will be gone one day when we leave this world.
