Isometrics Q&A why not just push against a wall?

Фильм және анимация

Hi if you are new to the channel I want to thank you for stopping by my name is Eric Moss I am a personal trainer as well as a modern day performing strong man which if you’re unfamiliar with what that is I perform feats of strength such as bending steel bars and breaking chains as part of a live show. Like what the Mighty Atom used to do as well as a Alexander Zass but with a modern-day twist.
This is part of a Q&A series where I answer questions about my methods of training this one involves isometrics.

Thanks. I became convinced of the efficacy of isometrics after achieving the lever at 58 simply by doing isometric holds on occasion. Now I do it for all around. One arm chin-up is close too.

I'm not a boxer, but more of an amateur/hobbiest martial artist and I started doing this. It feels like it helps, especially if you focus on all of the core and leg muscles and feeling how they need to contract to generate the most force on the wall.

@@MotoguyX5 i dont get it, do you push your fist into the wall (like a punching motion) as hard as you can ?

@@decathlete2000 yup, I do it in the 90% extended position as well as from the initial throwing position. The key I notice isn’t so much to focus on pushing with your arm but also pay attention to the tension in your core and glutes as well to make sure you build those neural connections to generate power through your whole body

Interesting and informative. I just subscribed. I own an Isochain and it works pretty good but it is limited in the angles and directions you can use it. For crushing strength I use the Robert Baraban chest crusher. It operates on spring tension and is extremely well made. Since you can adjust the amount of springs you can use, you can make it as difficult or as easy as you want. Hope to see and learn more from you in the future.

Try his horseshoe device for the opposing muscles to chest krusher, I love that thing

I own both the chest crusher and the horseshoe device and they are both very well made and challenging. I doubt that I will ever be able to use either of them with a full complement of springs! They are not cheap but in my opinion worth the money.

Seems like you could put some kind of compressible material or springboard on the wall. I put an analog scale on the wall and push. There is a slight give and you get the visual feedback. What is the load rating of the porch spring you bought?
