Mecca did not even exist during the time of Muhammad. All the stories that the Koran claimed happened in Mecca and Medina actually happened in Jerusalem and Petra.

Dan Gibson has said that there's no way a city like Mecca described in the Quran couldn't have existed as it was a baron wasteland... archaeological evidence supports this

According to Dr Jay Smith and co Mecca didn't exist in the 7th century. All the early mosque qiblas point to Petra or Jerusalem and there are no 7th century maps that show Mecca. There are also no trading records of a place called Mecca at that time.
