That's so naive to think that it's a problem of just one individual ideology rather than a whole system, which encourages people to be hierarchical, fascistic and dogmatic. I think it's quite obvious that not only in Islam you can see violent extremism and theocracy. Therefore, removing only Islam wouldn't solve anything, because we still have those old structures of power and system based on money and violence. We need to remove those first!

you know what's amazing, countries like Israel, India, Greece, even Russia warned Western Europe about the disease since the mid-20th century but you did not listen... the disease tried to destroy Judaism in Middle East, Buddhism and Hinduism in India, Christianity in Greece but failed and left scars for us to share.....we showed our scars but you did not care, instead the US and UK funded some of the diseased nations like Pakistan.... such a damn shame but let's still have the hope for a better future

Yes, Western culture is better. And all cultures and religions are devised and implemented by people. As such, some cultures will be worse than others. And that’s why the destitute from Africa, Middle East, South America flock to Western countries, risking life and limb on their perilous journeys.

That wasn't the case in the 14th century when Christianity was what ruled the west.People like to "forget" that many of the first colonists to the Americas where religious people running away from persecution in Europe.They don't go to Muslim countries because the difference is in tolerance. So, the main reason is they are still letting religion rule everything.So yeah they are worse.

A big part of the problem is the tendency for second generation immigrants to passionately embrace their "real" culture, as a way of individuating. Which leads to embracing the more extreme examples of that culture, especially when it is a religious culture.

These conversations are absolutely necessary to humanity. Support for the extremist view of a religion only exists because of the acceptance of the the very basis for it's existence. The acceptance of using faith and belief as acceptable approaches to developing a world view. Not only the acceptance, but the proactive instruction of it as acceptable when needed to include regional or family traditions. In order for the children to be taught to accept things they begin to question, they are then also taught to just start accepting. The "belief in belief" (H/T departed Daniel Dennett!) forced on children for acceptance of the ever more secularized versions of religious corporations' collection plates, gives the tacit support needed to accept the more extremist, IOW the less secularized, versions.

Try using fairness as the measure of all things human. Doing others wrong is the issue we can create unity from. No one wants to be done wrong. We can all make the agree to be fair to each other.

60 year's ago western ladies were burning bras and wearing mini skirts. Never been a requirement to wear a burka In a western country. Female genital mutilation has never been legal in a western country. As far as I know. I am over 5p and no one I know thinks homosexuality should be illegal. Let me ask you why would a Muslim choise to live in a society they find so abhorrent?

Yhe dicission of Burqa ls is interesting. This type of dress has been appropriated as a religious dress. The full covering was used by Bedouins/Arab nomads against the high desert heat and harsh sun. Males also are fully dressed with ful head coverings and around the neck, for protection. Islam stole the dress for its own backward reasons.

The burqa is do difficult to see through with that tiny cross-hatch window before the eyes. Arab men have never been handicapped by a covering like that.
