Everyone has a Larry Bird story.
You could tell the Celtics players were more like a family than just teammates. They knew what each other would do on the court at any given time.

Totally respect Isaih Thomas' perfect description of the LOVE that NBA players have for each other. The world needs to hear more stories of LOVE & AFFECTION just like the way Isaih Thomas tells it. Isaih wonderfully honors Dennis Johnson in the way DJ & Larry embraced for all the world to see. Well done Isaih. Brings a tear to my eye.
There was a time I didn't appreciate Isiah, possibly due to a lack of knowledge or my disdain for the rough style of basketball the Pistons played. However, after a 360-degree shift in perspective, I now enjoy listening to Isiah more than anyone else. His talent for storytelling, especially his delivery, is as remarkable as his skills were on the basketball court.

Yu got that right man but don't you mean a 180 degree shift?
Isiah is the man, I watched this game and the way Isiah describes this play he shows humility and love.
Most competitive era, most talented era most physically era. Era, when basketball was men’s game. Larry-true GOAT!

Isaiah Thomas had the most vivid war stories of his NBA era.. he recollected every subtle nuances .. the slightest emotions gestures of every great game he has ever played..
Thomas class act and marvelous storyteller

For you to call Isiah a class act you can't possibly be old enough to have seen him play
Still waiting for an all day marathon of clips of Worthy holding Bird by the jersey .
What a humble and respectful man True professional in mind and heart
Love the joy of basketball on Isiah telling his story❤🏀
just look at McHale smiling whenever Isiah puts over the Celtics lol

So much humility, reverence & Celtic respect from Isiah. McHale looks like a stern-but-proud older brother.
I think it's the greatest play of all time.
The wink...right after the fraternal love, the competition is still on and you're the foe.
Larry Bird...For a guy that wasn't considered a great defender,That steal against the pistons was without question the play that defined Larry's career!

It's the play the media shows over and over. So the casual fan or non fan mightve only seen that clip. But he was too good a clutch shooter to ignore that as the defining aspect of Birds game.

@@robmckrobmck5567 I think I was trying to say,That for every thing we knew Larry could do on the court,That ONE play epitomized,Under the circumstances, His career!
i think one of the greatest Larry Bird moments Isaiah sould talk about is the time he "backed" up Rodams comments on Bird. Bird didn't want to be bothered with the "white" guy comments. He just wanted to play ball with no distractions. Not being mean or hateful but didn't Bird " school" Rodman on many occasions?Tit fot tat, Bird was a beast!
That wink is everything lol Zeke is an amazing storyteller
"We knew Larry was gonna get the ball." How many times has that been said? I love the fact that Isiah can tell this story without bitterness and admiration. So respectable. I love Walton's reaction, happy, but not really surprised... "that's Larry & DJ."
Just ridiculous that Isiah was not on the Dream Team. Two rings, team leader . In the 80’s the top 4 guys in the league were Bird , Magic, MJ, and Isiah .

@@robmckrobmck5567 I kinda recall Dr J being more of a factor in the 70’s. But yes, in the early 80’s he was still a force. Won the title in 83. But the second half of the 80’s (the part that was more important in selecting the 92 Dream Team) was all Magic, Bird, Jordan, and Isiah. Those were the BiG 4. No two ways about it . Dr J retired in 87 , or so (didn’t look it up . Might be off by a year ). So he was not a consideration for the Dream Team.

They forgot. They forgot about Larry Bird……Danny Ainge
I remember watching this game on TV when I was a kid. One of the greatest games of any sport I have ever seen. It is not as great as the 1980 USA vs Russia, but it is pretty darn close.
I remember that play and disappointment of my Pistons because they went on and won 2 championships after that. Could have been 3 straight.
Thomas, needs to come by now. One of the most disliked of all players. Love his quote. "he ain't nothing but another good white player".
Isiah is a class act. True sportsman.
ISIAH THOMAS did disrespect Jorden, but MJ did stopped Isiah from being in OYLIMPICS. NOT RIGHT, Thomas was best in his position, second to none...
Ice Cube “I know what you just did”….
The story kills chuck almost as much as Isiah.
Fun to watch Basketball when players actually Cared if they won a game. Before Magic got a million$ a year for 25 years, yes he deservied it. The game changed shortly after, now ya have 25 million$ a year dudes lumbering back and forth up and down the court shooting at a rim, the Arenas are 1/3 full. TV must be losing Billions$ Nobody watches anymore
Isaiah is a class at. The real mistake was by Laimbeer backing up as the ball came instead of stepping forward. Contrary to all fundamentals, not Isaiah’s fault! But he doesn’t point fingers does he?
"If Larry bird was white...he'd be just another great guy" - Isiah Thomas on bird in interview after Thomas choked on his tongue when bird stole his inbounds pass and dj put Thomas and the rest of em away....again.....ain't that right zeke?? Thomas the biggest fugazzi in the nba, that's why mike told him to take a hike.
I thought the Pistons were better than the Celtics. I thought they would have had a 40% chance of beating the Lakers in the Finals.
lol this is cringe isiah trying to make out bird was doing something superhuman lol
This is the guy who said that if bird was black, he would be just an average basketball player. Since the white guy made Isaiah look like a fool, I guess it's ok to tell the story.

@@APhiOGammaPi You can be supportive of your teammates without lying, to claim later to have been joking, I saw the interview, he wasn’t joking. Larry didn’t care; when Thomas called to apologize, Bird handed the phone to his mother since she was the one who was upset about it.
Isiah Thomas is one of the most fake people, I haven't liked him since he agreed with rodman on what he said about Bird being white.
