The stock ESC for the Ascent for me didn't have the drag break and work well especially when on inclines or going downhill. The truck would roll on its own. The gold standard for most people you talk to is the 1080 g2 from Hobbywing. It's great but for me it'll cost over $100cdn to purchase online from Ali and way more to go to hobby shop. I have discovered this ISDT ESC70 and use it before, search my channel for more videos in depth about it. It's less than half the cost. $42cdn on Aliexpress when this video was made. I can buy 2 for less than a 1080. And with the switch plugged in, I can tune my ESC on the fly when out crawling and driving. I just put the esc in crawler mode and brought the reverse throttle curve down, so the truck rolls nice and slow in reverse. I'm very happy! I pulled the switch off and now the ESC turns on itself when you plug in the battery (don't forget to unplug when you are done driving!). I think this is an amazing option for a great price to bring your crawler to the next level! There's a link in the video notes where to snag on from Aliexpress.
