My theory: Borderline personality disorder from the looks of it. Lots of trauma, difficulty trusting, identity conflicts, pushing people away but also being overly dependent on them, etc etc etc it's all over. It also explains that little BDPSM video about Power, and his preoccupation with control generally. BPD isn't necessarily from trauma, but obviously his is (unless his entire career is based on a fictional character of himself). So yeah, he needs people to be super understanding and non judgmental while he gets out all of this self expression shit. Inhibiting or discouraging self expression is a proximate cause of mental illness, so he NEEDS to do this. His music and all this dancing and the whole album look like a gigantic coping mechanism. It's pretty elaborate and ostentatious, but he's a human too and we all need to feel like we belong. BPD is no fucking joke, this shit is the most painful shit you can experience, imo.

I don't think it's a fictional character because I think he's a bit young to have so much of this figured out, so he must have learned it first hand. It makes me sad to think he's seen "too much" but that's not my task.

I just wanna say that his songs are so special. Every word have a meaning and every word have a feeling. He don't just write something an sing it. There is more and it's beautiful. He has his singing talent and he also has the talent to express what he thinks . Many people can't express themselfes in that way and with his music he help people with the same feelings to understand them . Isak's music is so raw and vulnerable, to a level that you rarely find in the music industry today. coming to his older song after listening to his newer ones, so see how much he has opened.
