I’ve never heard a song that related to my last relationship so deeply. The emotional abuse I went through is ridiculous yet I find myself still missing him and loving him. I know what I am talking about because I've been seeking to end my life before the day .its not hope that heal you . its silence and knowing that you are the one whom only you can blame for the anger inside. if you don't experience darkness how do you know the light? so it's ok even though it's far from ok .because the same who change the stone to gold will change your soul.be hurt but smile to your self when you see the mirror.

I'm sorry you went through that. Speaking as another child with a parent who not only didn't, but couldn't love me and never did. Found family in friends, lovers, or whoever else are the people who love us and hopefully, ourselves. I hope you're healing and doing things for yourself now, for you to be proud and love yourself and find those who see that you are more than worthy of love.

I don't know why but the 'still asking him for more' hits me so hard everytime!!

This song is literally one of the saddest songs in this world.

This really cut deep. I feel like the lyrics were directed at me: "You are broken on the floor , and you're crying, crying. He has done this all before - but you're lying, lying, to yourself, that he'll find help, that he will change to someone else. But you're broken on the floor, still, asking him for more." I've left my ex-boyfriend a year ago - but I am still hurting deeply and hoping for him to change. Sometimes, out of nowhere, he would still text me, and I would immediately respond, hoping, that he has changed, that he is doing better. But every single time he disappoints me by just ignoring me again. He is an addict and after trying to help him I realized that you can love a person all you want, you cannot fix or heal them. The whole relationship scarred me and traumatized me. It's hard to let go when you love someone, it's hard to let go of someone when you feel you have to protect them. But in the end, you cannot give up yourself by not giving up on someone who is unwilling or unable to work on themselves.

I understand that. I had this boyfriend, who now I'm glad I'm not with, that cheated on me about 3 or 4 times. I tried to change him into a better person but he just wouldn't stop. He began to hate me, just as your ex did you. He treated me horribly and eventually I left him and went through a worse breakup also relating to the song (I believe I've found my Mr Right this time). I was also traumatized by this situation, as are many like us. In the end, boys are jerks who will always disappoint us for years to come. I hope you feel a lot better now, I know I do. Talk to me if you feel sad, I'll be there eventually! :)

When I first heard this song I immediately thought of my own mother. We lived a man that hurt her and us (her kids) all the time. And every time, no matter what she would always defend him and say he would change. He never did. We had to move out of our hometown to escape him and even now she still talks to him. This song has gotten me through so many nights in those houses and even now that I'm out. I'm so grateful for this song.

To all people thinking this song doesn't apply to them because there isn't physical violence... Psychological violence is just as bad (in another way). Most people don't get why people stay but they haven't experienced it themselves. It's the *dependence* . You feel like you couldn't go without that person, especially if society thinks that you should get along. This makes it so much harder because you know that that one person makes your life a living hell but one bad thought about them makes you feel guilty. This blocks you from talking to anyone even though you wonder how long you can still bare the anger and weight on your shoulders. I know it's hard and I haven't found my way out yet but I hope you do. I believe in you and I know it's hard to believe what I - a random stranger - tells you but you are worth; worth of love, worth of joy, worth of living! Even if no one else does, I believe in you and wish you all the best. Whether you need those words to get strength or whether you want to think about how far you've come...
