This was beautiful. I loved this. Dr. Jennifer Brinkerhoff Platt spoke from the heart. She has a beautiful Spirit. This was very uplifting and I felt I have learned so much from it. I use to be afraid of God years ago when not being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints years ago. I have found him to be a God of love who cares for each one of us. There is so much to learn and it is wonderful that we have this Follow Him Podcast to help out. I would also like to thank Hank Smith and John Bytheway along with Dr. Jennifer Brinkerhoff Platt and the others that helped to put it on.

Thank you all so very much... I was gifted abundantly with the spirit this morning, as a direct result of this particular show.💗 I think it's interesting, that life shapes us differently- I became converted and started this covenant path 2 1/2 years ago... The prophets promise about commitment and spiritual momentum has been astoundingly true for me. I was able to keep up with this discussion, and could have added to it, which to me is incredible, with only a couple years behind me!🙏 If you met me, you might be surprised that I am a devout member of this church! I do not "look the part" and throw people off all the time! Lol but although our life experiences have affected who we are in sometimes drastically different ways, it is incredible to me that we are absolutely speaking the same language. The way we decipher the truth in the scriptures is parallel, the spirit that nourishes and inspires me today is the same... I was reading the parable about the man sowing seeds, and the Spirit spoke to me about the seed that was able to take root in the good ground. My experience in earlier days was not in the best ground so to speak, but the seed has most definitely taken root! I say this to say that I am beyond grateful for all of you, who have probably lived most of your lives learning about, and following the gospel of Jesus Christ. You are my teachers. I respect you. Your roots have matured, and are grounded, and you are helping me grow my own. And although my presentation or the way I speak, or even look may not be the same, I know today, that we are truly part of the same family, and I need that message! It can be a lonely road, coming into the church as part of the gathering... Many of us coming in were not brought up with believing families, or have families of our own. Sometimes even the wards we engage in, seem disinterested or intimidated by the differences we appear to have... But today, I know that it does not matter because we are all part of the same body, trying to prepare the way for the Lord! Hopefully this comment reaches someone it can help as well! Thank you guys so much, you are doing great things❤️🌈🙏 (🌱isaiah 53)😉

I admire you! I was born in and brought up in the church (my parents were converts). I was mostly inactive as a teenager and I 'got in my own way' a lot, mostly through youthful ignorance, naïvety, pride etc. Anyway...I decided to come back to church (always had a basic testimony) and then married in the temple, but several decades later none of my kids are active, and most of my birth family (and my spouse's) are inactive. Many friends and acquaintances have/are falling away and it saddens me so much ...but, the gospel is true, so I'm staying put!! I am telling you this because I hear the wistfulness in your words and I want you to know that however 'different' you feel, you are heard, you are in company. My loneliness is not the same as yours, and vice versa, it's different too; but my goodness I admire you so much! Keep on keeping on, Mother Earth, you sound amazing 💛

I think as we embrace the gospel and are baptized into the church we are all different. I have been a member for 42 years now. Members in the ward would be shocked if they knew the "old me". The gospel saved me! Remember as you grow in the gospel that it is all about becoming like the Savior: leaving the past, that you learned from - good and bad- and growing forward. I think what sometimes feels like indifference is actually people dealing with their own burdens and feeling somewhat isolated themselves. It ebbs and flows. So BE that person reaching out and know that there are times your struggles may cause you to withdraw into yourself. That's why we do the best we can when we can, and hold on to the gospel of Christ.❤

So many things to love! “We have such misunderstandings about the doctrine and gift of repentance. It’s not punishment but liberation; a chance to be expanded and to grow.” And “If it doesn’t align, reinforce, or support the Brethren, I don’t want to do it.” I’m grateful to hear someone feels the same as I do ❤

Like you say Dr. Platt, Isaiah is not to be feared, slow down and enjoy every word, time is never wasted when studying Holy Leaders. I will take these great ideas as I inhale General Conference this coming weekend. Last April I was asking myself what the Presiding Bishop does? This question was answered, the wife asked her husband the same question and he was too. Now I know. Your love of this glorious Gospel is so lively and sweet. I'm rich, for I love living, hearing, and talking about feeling every marvelous marvel of our Lord and those that serve him. Thanks

“Assignment” is an interesting word to use…I wonder…are we living amongst those on this earth we may have been “assigned” to in the pre-mortal realm? I love it. ❤️. Loved this discussion as well as all of the others. Thank you for sharing with us out here in the trenches. 😉

Isaiah 54:14-“. . .thou shalt be far from oppression; for thou shalt not fear: and from terror; for it shall not come near thee.” What a reassurance for these last days where some things are pretty scary! I want to stay by God.

As I have been listening today I have been impressed by the thought that we were all in Heaven together and had the council were the Savior was chosen, we had a war and those of us who fought on The Lord's side and chose Him as our Savior, are the people who have come to this earth. We have lived in a Tealestual world. We have come to this world as children and have grown up here. Our memory of our life in Heaven has been veiled and only on rare occasions do any of us have glimpses from our Heavenly home. What a perfect loving plan our Heavenly Father and our Savior have made for us. They have shown us the way to live here, The Savior Himself, has overcome the world and set a perfect example for us and provide The Atonement for us - the way back home. The Gospel has been given to the people on earth since the beginning. This would have been an impossible task without our loving Heavenly Father and our Savior to help us. My mother's family had not studied The Gospel very much and when my father went on a mission in the 1930's he used The Bible not The Book of Mormon. Things have changed - it's line upon line. I remember some things mom talked about - the fact that she had some experience on a farm. She was impressed with old traditions about things, one being the survival of the fittest, it seems farm experience had really shaped some of her attitudes etc. The fact that animals had their way of dealing with the unwell etc, it's truly harsh, it is that natural man sort of mentality that seems to be part of this Tealestual world. Thank Heaven people, unlike animals can think and feel and can choose to take advantage of opportunities to learn and grow up in The Lord. People can become Celestual. Reading Isaiah slowly and humbly as we have been doing is a great help in overcoming the natural man. Thank you so much for your lessons, this one has been very helpful. It surprisingly reminded me of of what mom said about chickens and how they react to ailments in each other, thank Heaven people can learn to minister to each other and actually people can learn to bring about healing. We know, I believe, as soon as we hear the truth that caring for others is the thing we need to do. We haven't always known how. But it seems to me we have been learning more about that - things as simple as being there and listening and asking questions. Ministering is going to help a lot I do believe. As people improve and The Savior comes again, my understanding is even animals will improve as well. I wish my parents could have understood The Gospel better, it had to have been hard loving with those old traditions.

The Church handbook, now available to everyone is a source of light, knowledge and revelation. Too often it is unread or ignored, or misinterpreted and someone puts in their own interpretation from what is actually written. Why is that?
