I'm 21. I don't even have a credit card. Just a debit card. Currently, I don't think I'd be able to get one anyway because a few months ago, I left my wallet on a public bus and it had my SS card. I don't usually keep my ss card in my wallet but that day I was planning on going to do something that required me to show my actual ss card. So I had to put a block on any future credit-related things. Should probably follow up on that.

They also felt the need to rub in their refusal by telling me at the time, then emailing me, then sending out a paper letter. Just use a debit card now.

Mostly credit has become a way to get you to not see your spending as costing you real money. Money you had to work for. Most of credit is a mind hack, that gets you to spend your future labor on todays whim.

I was a closeted Libertarian as a child. I exhibited 8 of those symptoms. I had friends, though...sometimes lots of them. When I finally came out, everyone was supportive. They said they had always suspected, but loved me anyway. Several unsigned notes in different handwriting were slipped to me, saying their writers were secretly Libertarians, as well and thanking me for having the courage to come out. I wonder how many didn't even have the courage to write it down. How many of my friends didn't even have the courage to admit it to themselves?

As a teenager, I regularly argued with teachers about economics. I'm pretty sure my senior year AP American Government teacher hated me, but I knew how to game all his tests to the point I never studied yet aced every one. I legit did nothing else in that class but group projects (I had a few conservative friends in there) and just generally spent most of the time debating the teacher. Still passed just fine. Sophomore year I had a legit femi-nazi for an English Lit teacher. The department required reading list included Ayn Rand's Anthem, her scathing rebuke of collectivism depicting it as the nightmare dystopia it is. Suffice to say, Ms.GirlPower didn't understand a bit of the book, she was convinced it was about misogyny b/c Ayn Rand (as a women) MUST have been writing about the patriarchy. I shit you not, she was that deluded. That was probably the first time I ever called a teacher 'dumb as a box of rocks' to their face, wasn't the last time tho. I ended up earning the respect of all the staff with actual power, such as the dean, so I got away with LOTS of crap. Sorta used and abused the tactics of the enemy. Nothing quite like walking into the deans office, her giving you a stern look, then closing the door and breaking out laughing cause the prank you pulled on the pedo science teacher was just amazing. It helped that everyone KNEW he was a creeper. I just got a slap on the wrists. Yeah, I've got some pretty trippy stories from my teen years.

My AP Lang Teacher was openly political and wouldn’t hesitate to say her peace on a topic either brought up by accident through reading a speech or just recent news that she’d bring up such as a shooting that occurred. Safe to say there was a fair few times the right orientated students got into a huge let’s say “competitive” debate with the teacher and some of the left orientated students who were as cavalier with their opinions as the teacher was. Best one I remember though was when we had a synthesis project and two of the students who were openly republican decided to do theirs on a couple Tom MacDonald songs “Fake Woke” and I believe “Snowflake.” They had first went to the principle to make sure if anyone had gotten offended during the presentation that they wouldn’t be able to stir shit up at the office and they apparently got the go ahead. Teacher didn’t mind at first, of course she reluctantly did it. Probably the last entertaining part that whole quarter. Stirred up a lot and I just sat there enjoying the chaos.

I caught my son secretly looking up Congress.gov bills, reading them late at night, and then correcting everyone who believed what the media said recently. I sat my son down to tell him, "It's not OK to tell people if they're wrong! The media has that right! They are always right. Believe everything they say... OBEY!'" Sometimes, I wonder... is he playing the act of a media-always-gets-it-right, government-hugging, snobbish Pelosi lover? So far, I have not found any libertarian signs yet.

Reminds of a time in high school when I got there a little late so I had to stop and sit down at a table on my way through the cafeteria to my homeroom class when the announcements came on. Then when they said to stand for Oh Canada I didn't bother and the supervising teacher asked me on the way out why I was the only one who didn't. I told him, "I don't need this totalitarian crap from the school every morning" and he was amused and sent me on my way. (I do like Canada - I have a Canadian flag hanging from my door frame outside - but I despise the tyranny the government is trying to foist on us). I've basically been a libertarian since I was 10 years old. That's when I started breaking rules that I didn't care for or agree with. In my opinion lbertarianism at its most basic is simply following the golden rule.

Before you bang on about "free healthcare" take a look at all the countries that provide so-called "free healthcare" and you'll see a system high jacked by the healthcare workers who are supposed to be the servants of the patients. They ration healthcare, they dictate who can get what, and they are full of malpractice that no one can get redress for.
