Is your brain toilet clogged? Cerebrospinal fluid flow and cervical instability discussion

Фильм және анимация

Ross Hauser, MD explains the brain toilet concept and how blocked cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) flow due to cervical instability and dysstructure can create symptoms of brain fog, mental decline, inability to think clearly, or problem solve, and other difficulties with mental processing. These are some of the findings from cases that we see in our Florida Neck Center.
If you are suffering from mental decline and think that there may be associated with a neck injury or other neck pain condition that you have been diagnosed with, we would be happy to review your case.

TMJ misalignment is also a very important factor in low blood supply to the brain. The trigeminal nerve in particular controls blood flow to the prefrontal cortex. When the jaw is misaligned and the trigeminal nerve is irritated, blood and oxygen supply to the brain is decreased and inflammation, mast cell activation and pain signals increase.

With everyone being so glued to their phones this will literally be the leading cause of most peoples death in the future, even scarier is that these symptoms are on set, someone who has this usually will not experience any sort of discomfort in your neck. They will go to medical doctors who will Waste their time with prescription drugs and treatments of the symptoms.

I read about intracranial hypertension... I have severe cervical stenosis and have had occasional bouts of dizziness, heart palpitations and blood pressure surges. I will be having decompression surgery soon, fortunately. But this is a very important topic - many people are actually being misdiagnosed with things such as panic attacks, anxiety disorders and such - and the problem is all in the cervical spine.

Thanks, Annette. Yes, you're correct. There are many symptoms that can be triggered by cervical spine instability, as it is the superhighway for vital nerves, veins, arteries, etc. that control our autonomic functions and overall feeling of well-being. We see you mentioned elsewhere that you're in Texas and unable to travel here, so we wish you and your medical team all the best in helping you get resolution of your symptoms and stabilize your spine. Theres an air pressure feeling inside my ears and head, it started this year month of january because of a sudden anxiety, depression, fear, hyperventilation, overthinking to trauma. I remember the moment where my panic attack started, I am so scared until the air inside my stomach goes up at the back of my neck, until the air pressure was stock up inside my both ears and back of my head. It affects my mind and emotions. Every time I do yawning, theres an air going out from my ears, to avoid the air stock in my head or ears, I do swallowing and it makes me relieve, I undergo to MRI, and ENT, but all the results are okay and they dont see any problem, but I know that theres an air pressure inside until now. I dont know how or when this air pressure or brain fog will be gone sometimes it affects my thinking and my concentration. Now, I am hoping and living by faith that God will heal me

@@mike85180 Hey Mike, I actually just got back from my second treatment. Overall I'm doing good! The examination was very thorough, and the doctors and staff answered very question I had. The procedure itself is a little bracing, they numb the area and inject while you are still awake, but they monitor you the whole time and adjust and take breaks as needed. I opted for PRP with my Prolo, which I've had many good experiences with, and helps the injured site heal faster. Since my first injection I haven't felt the need to stretch my neck at all and I'm feeling a lot more sturdy in that area. So all in all I'd say the first injection reduced my symptoms and pain by about 25%. Along with treating the ligaments they're also sending me cervical weights to wear in order to treat my military neck. Very Satisfied with my care so far, though I'm by no means out of the woods just yet. Hope that answered your questions!

I have had numerous tests done, but nothing came out. We would want you to do a video on how we can improve this disorder with the help of exercises.

  • @CaringmedicalProlotherapy

    @CaringmedicalProlotherapy

Hi Saif Hussain, Thank you for reaching out and sorry to hear about your symptoms. Good question, but exercises are not used for treating ligaments, they are used for the muscles. There are some physical therapy/exercise videos available on other channels for that type of content. Ligaments can be treated with Prolotherapy which is more the focus of our channel. Unfortunately, what you've described is pretty common that people can go through the traditional testing through a neurologist or orthopedist, etc and find "nothing" and then are dismissed. Maybe you can find an upper cervical chiropractor or other local physical medicine specialist who can do some more in-depth structural examination of your spinal curve and your neck under motion and make some suggestions. Our approach is unique and we look at the body under motion x-ray and other motion testing and then tailor treatment whether that is through curve correction and/or Prolotherapy or other treatment that is warranted. We understand that not everyone can come to our clinic, though, and we hope you're able to find some help closer to home if location is the primary factor in determining your access to medical care. If you are not getting anywhere with your local options and need us in the future, please feel free to reach out to our team to discuss your case in detail. Wish you all the best in navigating your options to get tot he bottom of why you are having the symptoms and how to correct it.

Hi Michael, Thanks for reaching out. Sorry about your neck. In our offices, we work with chiropractors who specialize in upper cervical instability, and pair that with Prolotherapy in some instances. In others, the instability is so bad that we have to do Prolotherapy first because they cannot hold an adjustment and we need to get their ligaments healing first for alignment to stay or adjustments to have that kind of beneficial effect. If things change for you in the future, we'd be happy to review your case. Wish you all the best for now.

My regular dr said I was depressed, bt he also said my bra was causing my bra strap when I had a slap tear, completely torn rotators cuff and detached bicep, ….there is such thing as medical gaslighting….my ortho dr referred me to a neurologist who referred me to a ent then I lost my insurance because I am finally declared disabled from all my back issues, I have bone spurs all over my body that are ripping cartilage, nerves and causing hell. I had a Laminectomy which ended up having 3 operations caused by a Tear in the Dura but it’s down at the levels of L3,4 and 5 I thought they fixed it as the surgeon had sewed and glued it up but the last MRI showed it isn’t leaking like it was but has created a pocket where the fluid is contained now. I am in agony from impinged nerves and muscle wastage in my left leg but to get that fixed it’s right behind the pocket of spinal fluid and I don’t know what to do, I don’t want another operation in fear of the leak starting up and not being able to be controlled but soon I will loose all the muscle on my left leg and the spasms are killing me. Is there a way of getting around this pocket of fluid?

I had /something/ to my C-spine from a whiplash injury (fall) many years ago; imaging never told me what but I showed brainstem migraines for days not long after and got all these weird movement handicaps (could never run again without triggering severe neuro symptoms). I often wake up with facial paralysis and emotional blunting, along with dystonia and pressure in my forehead area and sinuses (not to mention widespread peripheral nerve dysfunction), and can get these symptoms just from lying down on my back. My eyes can also be under high pressure which causes blurred vision, if the skull-neck junction gets too tight or inflammed after lying down. I'm going to get checked for optic nerve inflammation again. Over the years I've developed parkinsonism and suspect frontal lobe dysfunction as well (looks like a dopamine problem). Is there any way to stop this from progressing?! It's only happening when I'm lying down, but this video seems to describe my symptomology pretty well.

Prolotherapy is a regenerative injection technique that introduces small amounts of an irritant solution to the site of painful and degenerated tendon insertions, joints, ligaments, and in adjacent joint spaces during several treatment sessions to promote growth of normal cells and tissues. Most patients will need about 3-6 treatments over the course of 4-6 weeks at a time. We have a lot of resources on our website! www.caringmedical.com/prolotherapy/

Can a cervical instability cause swollen lymph nodes? Ive had a large swollen node on the left side of my neck and a small swollen one on the right. Ive also had neck pain, shoulder pain, and i wake up every morning feeling very dizzy and out of it and it mostly goes away but i still dont feel quite right throughout the day. Ive been tested for lymphoma and other cancers but nothing has shown up. Im just wondering if its too much cerebrospinal fluid pressure being built up from an instability

Hello t.richocereus3577. We are so sorry to hear that you are having so much pain. There are many important structures in the neck such as nerves, arteries, veins, and lymphatics (the system including your lymph nodes). Due to this, instability in this area can cause serious consequences. Dr. Hauser wrote a great article about the different symptoms that can be caused by cervical neck instability. www.caringmedical.com/prolotherapy-news/craniocervical-instability/

My fiancé was anemic and B12 deficient since giving birth. She just hasn’t responded to treatments. And just about a week ago had a bunch of cerebrospinal fluid gush out of her nose. She has not been herself mentally and I’m worried about her. Please reach out to me because the doctors are not being diligent or prompt with anything accept trying to tell her to get vaccinated. We need help fast.

    How do I solve this???

Yup! I’ve had multiple csf leaks and in the last few years, just forget what I’m talking about mid sentence. I was the first in my class in college then uni. I feel so stupid now. I’ve been nicknamed ‘Dory’ My nhs doctor is blaming it on allergies and asking if I’ll get an eye test. Because everything to do with doctors here is online and the doctor didn’t think water dripping out my nose continually was anything abnormal. Time to go private.

Could cervical instability potentially cause visual distortions? My vision constantly expands/retracts (accompanied w/ brainfog) and seems to be in sync with my heartbeat. I've seen many neurologist and haven't come up with an answer yet, but we've never looked at my neck. I have had a neck injury in the past I assumed healed on its own.

@@ajpello2003 hi! So mine was due to cervical instability and my C1-C2 was rotated on my jugulars and blood vessels to the brain. I couldn’t afford prolo but I went to a chiro and got my neck aligned and felt everything drain at once my lymph nodes were so huge from CSF backup. Go to an upper cervical chiro for around 2-3 months, make sure your bones are in alignment and your symptoms will improve dramatically, also make sure you do exercises for your neck to keep lordosis (that C curve we are supposed to have)

@@ajpello2003 and with chiro it’s all about consistency, I felt discouraged maybe my 3rd or 4th adjustment because I thought everything would go away at once. Bones still wanna move out of place at times but try not to crack your neck or anything during the process, but with consistent visits you will feel a world of difference if you have these symptoms

No, we are not part of any insurance networks. If you chose to get treated, we will provide you with a detailed invoice that can be submitted to a private, non-HMO insurance company for possible reimbursement at the “out of network” rate. We cannot, however, guarantee any insurance reimbursement because most insurance company policies only offer pain medication and cortisone, or some physical therapy, for chronic pain treatments.

When I wake up in the morning before I get out of bed, my brain feels sharp and crisp and ready to go, but then I stand up start my morning routine my brain gets very foggy, this typically lasts for 3-4 hours ever day. This has affected my work, relationships and lifestyle. I am in Tampa, do I need a referral to come in and see you?

Hi Jeff, Thank you for sharing and sorry you are experiencing this, but glad you are taking it seriously and trying to get to the bottom of it. We'd be happy to review your case in more detail and possibly see you here for dynamic testing and determine if there is a structural component to your symptoms and determine a treatment plan. Great to hear you are in Tampa. While you do not need a referral, we have a comprehensive review process to make sure that we have a very good understanding of your case prior to scheduling and making travel arrangements, in order to make sure you sound like a good fit for our center.
