Is Vilnius Worth Visiting In The Winter?
I think most people in Lithuania can agree with each other about their hate for winter. The days are shorter, the temperature is lower, and you’ll get a lot of those ugly rainy days before the snow comes. The snow is generally enjoyed at first but then it becomes a mushy mess that becomes a safety hazard when it melts and refreezes again and again. But today I thought I would talk about reasons you might want to visit Vilnius in the wintertime. There probably aren’t as many reasons as other times of the year but there might just be enough to convince visitors to give it a try.

Absolutely worth it to visit!
Can't wait to see this years Christmas trees in Kaunas and Vilnius.
I visited back in January, and the weather was very similar to Michigan winters. I was expecting a Arctic Freeze, considering its the Baltics. I have appreciation for the short, dark days, which people considered to be gloomy. I find somehow them relaxing. I strongly agree on cheaper airfare prices. It was almost half of what I pay in the summer, and I love not having so many people crammed in the airports. Im excited to visit again this January!
And by the way, the Lithuanian word of the day is related to Latin 'hiems' "winter", Sanskrit 'híma', known from Himalaya, and Danish 'gimmer' "one-year-old lamb" [which has survived one winter].
i'm coming to vilnius in january for my exchange, can't wait to check out the light festival :)

Im going lithuania this december ! Cheers from Singapore!
Nice element of a different background track. I'm not sure how it is in recent years, but I remember you could find some cheap flights exactly on New Year's Day or Christmas. That might work for some people, if this is still the case these days.
Beautiful video!
Hello I really enjoyed your video😊❤ Very good capture and thank you for take me there😁😃 Have a good day My Friend 😊 Greetings from Oslo🇧🇻🥰😘
Appreciate the video! 🔔 🔔 Can we hear the bells in Vilnius today? My Lithuanian word of the day: 🌃 ✨✨ 𝑳𝒖𝒎𝒆𝒏 𝑽𝒊𝒍𝒏𝒊𝒖𝒔 ✨✨ 🌃 💞
A lovely video about a great city - well done.
One of the most important ingredient in winter is sauna. Although it's not a national thing like in Finland where is more saunas than people - in Lithuania they are also very popular, there are many saunas in the nature or near lake which you can rent for parties with friends or for romantic weekend with spouse. When you exit sauna to the snow and then enter it back - it's best feeling in the world.

It was quite a national thing before water supply became accessable. Actually in Lithuania it still is.
I will be there in March and I’m so excited about that
I am on video author's side here, good old cold days. Guys, how can you even withstand such hot weathers in sweatshirts, while I sweat like a fool in my tanktop? I will never understand that!
Yeah, I tried it this year. We were there February 14 to March 6. It's definitely a different feel than in the summer months, but I recommend trying it. For my 4th visit, we're going back all of May next year. I like the longer days better I think. More to do.
I am planning to go in late October next year.

Worth to visit Kaunas in winter
winter is only good if we have snow - if not, than it is dark and muddy and colorless - quite depressing. And the snow is not consistent - there are years when it snows only a little and it melts the same day over and over again, and then there are years when we have snow in october, but not in january. snow on christmas, but damp and foggy on new years. my favorite month in winter is febuary - the days are longer and the sky is a bit bluer, and its the month with the biggest chance of having snow imo. And usually it has winter halloween - užgavėnės.
Great video, but what happened to your mic?

Why do many Lithuanians look at up to Jonas Noreika as a national hero which he is not ?
are you kidding me? the rainy season is the best to experience if you are not made of sugar :)

I think Kris just have bad experience with rain in Dark Winter, no thanks to Raincouver. There are also no rain... That being said, still better than what we have now (basically, what he described, but remove everything fun, including the lights - that's Vancouver)
For anyone interested in Liepkalnis remember its a HILL!
