    Toughbilt will not be releasing their rolling drawers until Summer 2024. Ridgid is releasing rolling drawers now. 3 drawer unit in a few weeks They will be the only brand with rolling drawers. Plus, their wheel cart is removable. SKU numbers have already been assigned at Home Depot for the drawer box and the wheel cart. Ridgid 2 drawer and 4 drawer boxes will be released in Q1 2024. So by spring Ridgid will have 2, 3, & 4 drawer rolling stackable units. IMHO TB should have debuted with rolling drawers right out of the gate. That would make them a Packout & Modbox killer

    I love your reviews, This one is exceptionally fantastic...!!! I've Been using the Ridgid 2.0 line, I do like their rolling box, and overall it's a decent system but, the side latches have worn out on some of my boxes. The clips that the side bars clip into are plastic hook design, bound to wear out. I'm definitely switching to ToughBuilt system based on your review. I dig the accessories you have developed for the Packouts, Looking forward to what you come up with for Toughbuilt.

    Sticker tip... once removed, use the sticker itself to dab/press down on the residue... removes in seconds. goo-gone tends to break down the residue, and makes a mess. Using the adhesive from the back of the "removed sticker" is more of a mechanical removal.

    I've been a huge toughbuilt fan for years when I first got the clipteck drill holster. Now every time I go to Lowe's I look for new toughbuilt hand tools. I was super excited when I saw them release their stacktech system and already have one of everything they release and doubles of a few of them. Not being able to open lower boxes so easily or not being able to stack on top the tote and small box is not an issue I have a problem with. I absolutely love them and the only thing I do wish was different would be having the divider in the tote be removable. Not an issue that prevented me from getting them and I can't wait for others to be released and accessories to be released

    You nailed it when you said Milwaukee ignores their customers. They say the they listen to their customer feedback but that has not been my experience unfortunately. The handle is one example now people are modifying their bottom, rolling trunk into a drawer. I’ve said this before about Milwaukee. They seem to be tone, deaf to what’s going on around them.

    A great review....i had to test it out in person. Overall it is a very impressive system though I see the lock/unlock latch a issue since it sticks out and likely will be broken off at some point. A flat finger hole like the on the packout would be a long-term improvement that would match the premium level of this system and products. If they can match the packout options, this is the one. There also needs a higher connection point or a strp to better support the handle and lessen the deflection when moving a stack around - a future WD product for all stacking systems.

    If milwaukee didnt make so many cool m12 and m18 attachments I'd be more prone to buy some stacktech for myself. That being said I did buy stacktech for my friend as a gift because of the ease of use. (Roller box, large box, crate, and two compacts for $284-ish) I see stacktech taking 2nd place very quickly, and I wouldn't be surprised if they eclipse Milwaukee someday, but that would take quite some time and continued improvement. Im very impressed with stacktech and would recommend them over packout unless you want some of the specialty attachments milwaukee offers (me). This is the people's modular toolbox and the only one worth considering other than packout.

I prefer the front handle, like the gas struts, and the internal attachments for bit boxes. But the Toughbilt accessory attachment system is easier to adjust and I already have the Toughbilt modular tool pouches. Plus the TB attachments seem more useful...guess I'm going to have to take a trip to Lowe's to compare.

    Last time I bought a system like this was in 2020 and it was Husky Connect and Packout on the shelves at my local stores. I’ve undertaken far more projects and have many more tools with more to come. I was really surprised to see so many options out there. I mostly am doing DIY home renovations, but also woodworking and mechanic related work. One feature I’m finding missing from many brands is inserts that firmly secure your tools, instead of them piling into a bin. Dewalt and packout so far have the best foam and I like the dewalt insert trays. One thing I want to find is a good system for my sockets and ratchets from various brands. I’ve got everything from snap on to harbor freight and I would like an organizer that accepts universal sockets. For my low use tools, I’m considering the tstak/versa stack tool boxes. They aren’t as large or hefty as the suitcase tool box from tough built (which I was impressed with) but they are smaller. I’ve only gotta hold one tool in some foam and a few bits/adapters/blades. Price point makes low value tool storage in these simple cases appealing.

    Very thorough video. Biggest concern is the weight which is multiplied once you add all your accessories and tools. Packout is already heavy but manageable. Anything more might make me want to leave things out which might not be such a good thing when you need something on the job. This is a big reason why I won’t use the 38in Packout rolling tool chest. • @internalharm

    The stacking of 2 half box issue is the main concern, a design flaw. Once they release the shims to fix it, it should be free. Since the newer box will fix this issue with new design, the shims should be free. ECO offer free drift kits for their snowblower that are older and have drift issue.

    Completely modular base system is a huge game-changer. I want my base unit with wheels to be a drawer, not a lidded case, as most of my gear is lightweight enough that drawers are fine and allow me to access everything without de-stacking. Being able to break up a big stack of drawers to load in my sedan, then lock those all together on wheels for on-the-job movement will be incredible. These also look like they’re avoiding unnecessary geometry. They may be heavier, but I’d be curious what the exterior volume to interior volume ratio might be, because I suspect it’s better than most other systems. I’m in the film/tv industry, and I already want to make custom metal corners for these, but with fittings for my industry: 1/4-20 and 3/8 threaded holes, as well as Arri locator pins.

If it's Milwaukee section everything for Milwaukee under Milwaukee because your first two items are Milwaukee your Third item is rigid or tough systems? I'm sorry I don't care about anything but Milwaukee so that's all I would like to see is just Milwaukee products. My one big thought on the stacking system is that the mechanics are all in the bottom of the box, not the top. This means that if i wanted to design a custom base plate for mounting onto the top, I'm fairly certain it would require at least some spring latch to connect it to the box below. This would make a lot of ideas like buying a separate box and attaching cleats of some sort to the bottom not as easily doable.

  • @JakeWeihe

    @JakeWeihe

    True. I make that point about other boxes in another video but forgot to mention it here. I think 3rd party makers like stack smarter will figure it out. Worse case scenario you'll have to resort to attaching the different base with straps.

    Have been looking into a modular system and this one piqued my interest. The company makes very thoughtful and well made stuff. I hope they are able to actually release and sell all the pieces they have planned. The company is under some serious financial strain so a bankruptcy or forced buyout could curtail the vision they seem to be going for.

    I love the Toughbuilt brand. I have tons of clips and pouches. I have over 50+ DeWalt toughsystem boxes. All of Which have top handles on the large boxes. The B50 box should have a top handle. Even if you used the front handle the contents of the tray inside would dump all over. Using two hands to carry boxes is annoying. I tend to carry more than one box at a time on and off the job site when necessary. Would love to hear your opinion.

    Rigid original design was great, simple, and durable and large handles. I've had my Rigid setup for over 10 years! Only problem is where are their drawer units !!???. Theses Tough Built have a nice latch system , better than sliding a heavy box like Milwaukee. Just wondering if the latch system will last?

  • @rojohe
    @rojohe3 ай бұрын

    ToughBuilt's *replaceable* steel corners and heavier (more durable?) construction is a significant benefit. I like their (IP65) weather seal design. ToughBuilt needs to get rid of all those nuisance stickers. If ToughBuilt goes the top stacking adapter plate route it would be beneficial to incorporate steel (or magnetic) strips into the adapter plate for magnetic parts/disassembly trays. Overall, ToughBuilt off to a great start. The fact that ToughBuilt is (currently) a smaller company should provide an extra advantage when it comes to being more responsive to customers. Lastly, regarding these portable storage systems, I prefer conventional pneumatic or foam-filled rubber tires over all the ‘low-budget’ plastic hub wheels these systems are using, especially when used on jobsites where water and mud can be commonplace.

    I am beyond excited for this set up! And can’t wait to buy into it! Seem far superior to anything else out there even given the issues. A few things I see…. - the rolling box handle. Why does it have to pull out? Why can’t it collapse all the way down like suitcase luggage? Then I don’t have to take it out and put it in… -the ammo box tray versus the large box tray. Definitely a detractors they aren’t the same size. No, it’s likely I won’t cross load them often but it will happen. Why are they different? Why not be the same? -the tool tote. A comment I’ve seen else where I agree with…why nothing for the clip tech like a rail hubs? -I love the dewalt tote that is a zippered bag that it’s like a duffle bag for hand tools locks into the toughsystem 2.0. I want to see a version of that! -when will the Lowe’s exclusive end? I have a Lowe’s 1.5 hours north and one the same south…too far away. When will this be available at Home Depot or my local building materials supplier?
