this was exactly how my father behaved, right down to kidnapping my brother and I because he couldn't control my mother's every move anymore, he sure as hell wasn't gonna lose that control over his children that easily. he started poisoning my food with dairy, a thing I have been allergic to since the day I was born, in an attempt to continue controlling my mother. you don't have to hit a child to inflict permanent terror. breaking their belongings because they didn't do exactly what you said is 100% violence. getting so angry you break your target's material possessions is a violent act that leaves their victim just as afraid for their life as they would be if they had been beaten. people underestimate the impact of psychological warfare, especially in a familial setting. this exact kind of man left me, my mother, and both of my brothers with C-PTSD that we still struggle with. I will never know who I was supposed to be, who I could've been, because my father robbed me of normal childhood development using just his words and my broken toys. psychological abuse is just as impactful and morally reprehensible as physical or verbal abuse, but unfortunately this is a very accurate portrayal of how prosecuting this kind of abuse goes down in court

@@HeronCoyote1234 I'm doing much better now with the help of therapy, medication, and the most loving and supportive partner I could've ever hoped for. I've made great strides in being less immediately reactionary to perceived criticism and in allowing myself to make mistakes and just be stupid sometimes. I still don't trust food that I didn't personally prepare but my partner and I both have celiac disease now anyway so I don't have to face that fear just yet 😅 having 500 miles of distance and having not seen my father in five years also helps! as hard as it is to break away from the only thing you've ever known, you really have to completely separate yourself from that source of trauma and anxiety or you won't ever be pulled out of that constant fight or flight response. I wouldn't necessarily say I'm grateful for how he raised me or that I wouldn't go back and change things if I could, but I am incredibly grateful for the life I've made for myself and for the people in it ❤️

I hope the scene where McCoy cross-examines the second wife is uploaded, such a great scene where she realizes that she merely exists as a placeholder with no personality traits, friends of her own or familial contact; just as his wife and his children’s new mother because the first mother dared to challenge his terror-fueled “parenting”.

I love this episode of L&O. The ex wife seeing his pic when Brisco finds her at the funeral of the initial victim. The victim was pushed off the subway platform or into oncoming traffic, i think. The dad, i think the actor is jay sanders? He went on to be the captain on criminal intent, for about a season. After being in an episode of criminal intent where goren had him tearing up his garage looking for evidence, in a previous C.I. episode. The stepmother's actress played in a trilogy of tv movies from the 90s that starred rue McClanahan from golden girls, kristy mcnicholls from empty nest, and pat Duffy from dallas/step by step. Daughter of the bride, baby of the bride, mother of the bride? The stepmother's testimony and the hand gesture the dad uses trying to control her from his seat is the best! So frightening. 👉🏻👆🏻 Next to Hands Free, this is my 2nd favourite episode.

Why doesn't this channel add clips of criminal intent? There are two law and order channels. One was started by nbc, one by a fan, but nbc aquired it. Now one airs recent clips of "law and order Thursday' with new season 21+ of OG L&O, svu and organized crime. The other, this channel only shows og l&o and old svu clips. No criminal intent? No trial by jury? No chicago?

I said the same thing a long time ago. Apparently it fell on deaf ears. "Criminal Intent" was always my favorite out of the L&O franchise. Love Vincent D'Onofrio. Him & Emmes compliment each others "talents" very well. Alex wasn't just window dressing for the series. And unlike SVU, they didn't turn "CI" into a soap opera. Although I preferred 1-5 seasons in general, season 6 had some incredible episodes too. My favorite "CI" episode of all time is "End Game" from season 6...
