They only made this design because they could cheapen on the glass door, wiring for controls, a drawer with its tubes etc. From a developing standpoint they are evil geniuses

This washing machine has the worst design "ever" because this washing machine has only 4 programmes, even this washing machine does not have 90 degrees or Pre wash. No options like extra rinse, Pre wash, rinse hold or easy iron, or decrease the spin (Spin Variation or 1200-600 if 1200 rpm, 1400-600 if 1400 rpm.)

If I remember correctly, there's also one program when you press two buttons at the same time.

Horrible machines, probably the worst machine ever released. No boilwash so good luck cleaning the tub, no variable spin or temperature, no spin only at 1400rpm, as you said the detergent doesn’t go on the clothes instead goes in the door seal, no display/clock so you know when it’s finished, you can’t see inside the door, no real detergent drawer which personally I would prefer instead of that plastic crap, brushed motor (it’s only because it was it’s flagship I was expecting for it to have an inverter motor) and finally at the end of the day it’s an Indesit.

Not having a variable spin doesn't really effect me as I prefer my washer to spin at its max speed but I do need to have access to 40c 60c and a boilwash

@@danhutchinsonbackup Do you also use dryer? If not, then i think that 800 RPM is enough (depends on if it spins at max. speeds longer than like 1 minute). Of course take this as recommendation. You can do as you please.

@@danhutchinsonbackup Well wont those clothes be crumbled like a paper afterwards? I personally let my full washing machine (6kg) spin at 800 (unless its towels, those go 1000) and then hang them. Of course this will change for me to the end of the year, since im gonna get myself a dryer. Also question, do you think a washing machine drum can easily handle full towels load on 1200 RPM? Im afrad that since they are heavy when they are wet that they are gonna destroy the drum. XD

I've owned this machine for 15 years. İt was the best option for me because it didn't have a see through door or a million programs. With my diagnosis it was a dream come true. İt eventually broke down after 15 years and I bought a modern version from another brand. However it has a bunch of programs and I find it difficult to use.

I remember seeing this machine on a design magazine, back in 2007 when "Ecodesign" was all the rage. I guess Indesit tried to go "eco" by reducing the amount of components and materials, and changing the type of materials based on their carbon foot print (hence they ditched the glass door). Electrolux tried to do the same at least with a fridge, but they also failed!

You would think that would reduce the materials used. But they did have to design and manufacture a whole new door, fill diverter and front cabinet for it all. Interestingly the moon did continue to be made till about 2012. So it didn't do too bad of a run.

At least it's DIFFERENT. I like it when companies basically go Monty Python and say "let's try something different". The same with the Dyson Contra-Rotator. The end result may be crap, but at least they tried - instead of just moving a few buttons around, changing the spin speed from 1200 to 1400, switch the detergent drawer from one side to the other, or w/e they come up with and give it a new model name/number. Think of it in music terms. Bands that spit out one album after another that sound exactly the same (many metal band are notorious for this....!) - it gets so repetitive and boring. I applaud bands who will go new ways. Again, the album may be crap, but I will never ever slam them for trying new stuff.

Id say yes as it has got no boilwash lack of important programmes and there is no way to see in the drum when its working

I think they messed up with this machine! and should of basically replaced that stupid door with a clear one! Defo should have that water jet !!! love that!

mom and dads friend machine had the exact same machine in graphite. the door seal was disgusting. my mom and dad always tell me on how i said (i even remember saying it) “it’s a cool machine, but it’s a bit manky” and they started laughing at me. i was about 6 and they didn’t take me seriously, she is a swimming instructor so any germs being carried from the machines seal could’ve stayed on the clothes couldve been spread into the swimming pool or could cause severe skin allergies/reactions

About the case rusting, I found that happens because of detergent vapors, my LG was rotting pretty bad, I had to take it all apart, sand it down pretty hard, applied antirust, sand it again, then I painted it with spray paint. It is looking brand new now. I wish the front of all washers were made of plastic. It would feel cheap but at least it would never rust on the front

I think they should just have a bit of metal just where the door seal connects to the front cover and just have that metal part connect to the frame. And then a plastic cover over to cover it alll up

Nidec motors can be loud too. In a Zanussi FlexiDose they used Nidec motors and we're very screechy whiny.

@@lahonymanor2927 my zanussi zwt i believe has a similar motor to my indesit iwc. Not sure on the brand but looking at it front on they look similar although the zanussi is quieter and lower pitched dispite both being 1400 rpm washers

Having owned only LG washers for the last 14 years, the sound this ugly, overly basic and crude Indesit Moon makes, makes me think - how do people put up with this kind of noise from a washing machine motor these days, when you can have one thats virtually silent on distribute and spin. Its simply inexcusable that manufacturers are still putting these types of harsh, gratingly whiny brushed motors in machines in this day and age. I know the Moon is an older design now, but brushed motors are still being used in more recent machines. I dont see there being many Moons left out there in working condition any more, most will have become mould traps long ago and rotted out their spiders, and then been junked, which is the best thing for them. I agree these are probably one of the worst designed washing machines of the modern era.

While I agree that brushed motors sound terrible, I still prefer them in cheaper washing machines or if you generally aren’t a fan of the throw away society. Brushed motors are quite serviceable, and their control consists of a triac, some relays and a few minor components only. Inverter motors are a cool thing until the inverter board fails, which occurs quite often and usually after the warranty period. Some inverter boards are dipped in resin, and others are integrated into the motor - which both is a nightmare.

@@honich-eriker I'm not a fan of the throw away society obviously, it's nothing more than needless extremism and discrimination. I don't mind either motors. My Daewoo washer has a very quiet motor and the drum is belt driven... I'm not sure if the motor is brushed. It doesn't sound like a brushed motor anyway.

Look, i own AEG washing machine and i dont get how you can stand LG washing machine motor sound. Imo it tries to be quiet, but it is making quite loud high pitched noise and also when its drum is moving around, even just a bit, it makes ´´clicking´´ like noise, which i find annoying and iritating. Other than that, i think LG is interesting. I still personally choose to use AEG.

If they did a condenser matching dryer, I think that would’ve done well

I'd give this a 4/10, here's the Pros and Cons in my opinion: Pros: Its basic like the Currys Essentials but its a bit tricky to select some programs (wool, silk, cold water rinse), I like the Daily wash 30' wash and wool cycle (distribution thru cycle) Cons: with the original door you cannot see into the machine due to there being no draw at the top and instead its behind on the door and I read about the dispenser going mouldy and the mould was going into the wash 🤢, theres no 90'c cycle neither is there a spin only cycle what I would've done is put a draw at the top, put the logo on the door, made where the logo was two buttons (Spin cycle and Rinse cycle) and made the power button 90'c cycle and to turn it on you press any button and to turn it off press and hold any button for 3 sec. But overall Its a washing machine that I might get if I got a chance (obviously will put a normal door on it)

Despite the dreadful opinions of this machine… we’ve had it since new, used many times daily, never missed a beat, couple of minor wear and tear issues, one was heater element, a few years ago, and a new door seal recently due to age, had a “premium German machine” before the Moon, from an alternative manufacturer and it went bang after 2 years and spent more time broke than working , we must be unlucky with a “Premium brand” and incredibly lucky with the Indesit, these are apparently known For rusting ours is still immaculate after a decade and half. Only issue you have to keep it well cleaned, easy enough remove dispenser every few weeks clean in sink with hot soapy water and it’s ready for another 8 weeks or so, found that soap drawers are just as bad and because they’re Cold fill nowadays.

That is very true. And it did date these by several years. I can forgive the maytag Neptune though for many reasons. Like 1. The dispenser is at the top like normal. 2 the drum is tilted making loading and unloading easy. 3. The door design was from the dryer. And 4. This being not the 1st but one of earliest american made front loaders. And all is forgiven.

I am glad that Indesit never made the Moon again as that machine is completely rubbish. 1 Obviously can’t see in the drum, 2 there are not enough programmes to choose from, 3 you can’t adjust spin speed and temperature, in a way this is the worst machine ever

The fact that you don't have a 90° wash is way worse than that, most people get the washers to clean their clothes, not to watch them, and not gonna lie, it looks kinda modern and different so it definitely catches the eye.

It's best features are the small animal dying in terrible pain spin noise, and the hole in the wash basket

This is the absolute worst washing machine in the world. 1. Fairly Poor Design. 2. No Windows. 3. Detergent Drawer only accessible while door is open. 4. Only Limited Programs Available. 5. Is a sistership of the other worst washing machine 'Hotpoint Aqualtis'. Don't Buy It (Only if they still manufacture them, but not any more.)

@@whichwasher2007 I would definitely up the build quality and instead of the crappy non see through door it should be like a cover so you have the option for see through or not I’d say this should have had a touch screen for programs and the dispenser just at the top of the machine and give it a proper heater Aswell thats more 350 quid this was a machine taken out the sketch board too soon! Forgot to mention a lot more programs and options aswell

Looks like it has a Sole motor, not a Welling motor, Welling motor is much quieter than this motor. And the motor really does sound 100% like Logik, or Beko? I don't really know.

I am surprised, Indesit is one of my favourite brands, but this one was a failure in my opinion. I still cannot understand how you selected the 6 different programmes with just 4 buttons. However, it has one thing which I think is way better than the Haier Series 82 machine we have at home: It is more durable. By the way, at home we also have an Indesit WIXXL 146.

That would have worked fine too. Both as a vented and as a condenser. I would have had. Cotton standard cupboard dry Mixed + mixed = mixed cupboard dry Mixed + cotton = mixed extra dry. Delicates low heat cupboard dry. 30 min + 30min = 30min high heat 30min + delicate = 30 min low heat. Perfect.

If somene gave me 2 options moon or Wil 143 is wil 143 in a heartbeat (love the wil143)

This washer was made in 2007

So basically Worst washer = Indesit Moon Best washer = Gorenje WA65205 (actually my favourite is the AEG 6650)

Isaac Joby John Sorry for the late reply, but yes, you're right. I was meant to say the most technologically advanced washer, not the best. Can you imagine in 2004 having a washer that has 6kg/2000rpm spin + touchscreen + electric drawer (this was never ever seen on any other washer again) + electric door? 2000rpm washers are not even made anymore...It was also built to last...produced in 2004-2007. But my favourite washing machine brand is and always was AEG (the machines produced from 1956-2000). The highest quality washers which I've ever seen were the LAVAMAT Bella/Clara/Regina/Nova/Etc models produced in the 50s through 70s
